Just upgraded from my Scarlett Solo (yes, the one that came with the headphones and mic combo) to the Apollo Solo. What a bitch to setup on my Apple silicon M3 Sonoma, but finally got it working in Logic Pro 11. I'm looking forward to tracking some guitars and vocals soon. The only issue I still have, is that when my macbook boots up, I have to unplug my monitor and SSD (Connected via a USB hub) because the Solo won't fire up if there are other USB ports occupied - I suspect this big boy requires a lot of power and the Thunderbolt 3 has to take priority. not sure yet if this is an iOS or UA/hardware issue. Thanks for your video! Very insightful
Fast question man, im only making elextronic music in ableton, no input instruments recordings, only daw. I have Scarlett 2i2 3rd gen. If I buy apollo solo, there will better quality sound on output to monitors? I mean better than from Scarlett?
So this is like the one case where I would say upgrading wouldn’t improve the sound the out put off both is gonna be pretty similar it’s gonna be up to the quality of your speakers more than the interface
@@yozaph Hmm. And Apollo Twin? Same sound quality at output? I'm wondering whether to leave this scarlet or buy an interface that has better sound quality at the output. Can you advise something?
Good analysis! I have a question...where did you buy your apollo solo, ebay? The price you mentioned was really good but I'm not sure where I should buy it without being scammed ;(. Thank you so much in advance!
Hi thanks for the question! I actually didn't get it online, I looked online for awhile and I would definitely trust one from like reverb or sweetwater, but I got mine from a guitar center in person, I looked for one for a few weeks (I was actually looking for an apollo twin at the time) did test mine at the GC before I bought it to make sure it turned on and everything. I just checked on reverb and there was a bunch from 300-350 but I bet if you kept an eye out for awhile you could find one less than 300
This was one of the biggest selling points for me and what made me obsessed with the Apollo interfaces, I record on an older macbook and I used to have to record vocals completely dry to get good performance bc as soon as I start putting any fx on it will slow down and cause latency or even pauses when trying to record with them turned on, with the Apollo i dont have any problems whatsoever, I use a UAD EQ and compressor in the UAD console so that it's processed on the Apollo before it ever hits your computer, highly recommend this work flow its saved me a lot of pain, hope it works out for you!
So the solo is about 140 for ~170 you could get the uad volt which blows the Scarlett’s out of the water imo, if you’re able to save up closer to 200-300 I would definitely look in to the uad solo, the Scarlett solo will do the job but it will leave you wanting an upgrade later
@@yozaphthanks for your response but I looked where I live and the uad solo is more 300 to 400€ used so way over my budget. The solo g4 is 130€ imo it's the best option since I'm a beginner
Haven’t used the audient myself so can’t say for sure but it looks alright they’re about the same price so it’s up to you me personally I’d go with the volt because I really like UA and have had good experiences with the volt and apollos
I think my biggest issues with the Scarlett is latency sound quality is passable but when you start using a lot of plugins or have a huge project it causes problems

100% I need an idea of the sound to get a good performance
Hello I was leaning to a scarlett solo 4th gen only to play and record guitar.
What would be a better alternative for around the same price ?

@@zekounet Very understandable! I got mine used after looking for awhile, if you're still looking for other alternatives I like the UAD Volt

Heard no big difference in the sound quality tbh. Scarlett is a very good starter UI.

i think the apollo is not at the same league and from my experience the scarlett is not worth a dime or your time.
Absolutely agree Scarlett’s aren’t worth it
