I am happy to announce my new course: Oil Painting for Anybody!!
This charming neighborhood scene is typical of the Santo Spirito district in Florence! Warm afternoon light spills in behind the figures creating a strong pattern of light and shadow. Yes, the light in Italy is unique!

Great painting but also good work with the video and how you included the photo, painting and pallet..

Marla, I think you have outdone your own pastels. This is wonderful and in the same loose, suggestive style. Actually I wish it was a slightly larger painting. Can't believe you did this in the tiny format you did. Have recently switched from Pastel to Oil and find this most interesting.

Beautiful! Love watching how you build the images and shapes to construct the scene.

Thank you Marla, that must have been a wonderful trip. I love the way you captured the light and the conversation between the couple. It makes me wonder what they were saying. When you were applying the paint did you add any medium on your brush before going into the paint. It didn't seem as though you did and I know that it is next to impossible to show everything on camera. Thank again for sharing this.
