@@zanesy6250 True, but I don’t think his Sports Festival victory hit as hard because Todoroki was having his whole thing and didn’t go all out. I like that Bakugo gets to be satisfied with himself here edit: Or rather, it hit but in a different way
@@zanesy6250Bakugo himself does not believe that's counts as it wasn't a "flawless" victory. He wasn't first for the cavalry battle and Todoroki basically let him win.
@@kwenasepuru4604I wouldn’t say he let him win, he was just struggling but, I believe Bakugo would’ve won regardless because his whirlwind wind would’ve drowned out the fire in the final clash.
Says he will come first in the sports festival - Comes first. Says he will beat Deku in 1v1 - Beats Deku in 1v1. Says he will win 4-0 - Slaughters his opponents in 4-0. He isn't overconfident, he is HIM.
As per that second one, Deku's inner monologue in that one, "when I think of the avatar of victory, I don't think of All-Might, I think of you, Kacchan."
@@falsnamae3511well the line is more of(in the dub) is.."There were parts I hated about you, sure..but I could see how amazing you were..All Might was my hero but you were the one actually in my life" and "I can't tell you this to your face ...but in my mind, the image of victory is so tied to you that in those moments, I can't help but imitate you" I love these lines..so It is in brain very clearly
@@Biielfire yeah in Japanese(Sub) it was more of "You had so much I didn't have, you were an amazing person much closer than All Might"..and "this is gross..so I can't tell you to your face..but the image of victory that I have inside me..is of you"
This battle shows why Bakugo has one of my favorite powers in media. The dynamic, explosive movement, the acrobatics and grappling, the massive medium range attacks It’s just COOL
I really do love the *peak* decision of "I'm going to give this kid Spider-man levels of mobility...and of course it's going to come entirely from explosions."
@@Joseph-ky3os I’m glad you said Spider-Man, because that’s exactly who it reminds me of. There’s a sort of sway to it where he has these bursts of speed and then when gravity just barely takes him, he fires off again, and it’s so much like Spider-Man I love trying to think of other powers that could achieve that motion because it’s so satisfying
@@unseenasymptote4976 Just like a well made Spider-Man game needs to really capture the feeling of web slinging but feels so good when you get it, I feel like a game fully centered around getting Bakugo style movement and fighting would be insanely satisfying. It's that particular combination of weightlessness and snap that is just totally killer. Part of this may just be my Spider-Man bias which I fully admit to having but I'm sticking to it!
I love that the other team is scared of letting Deku do pretty much anything. The last team knew Bakugo was strong but didn't think he was a team player. But EVERYONE knows Deku is just as good, if not better than Bakugo and is absolutely a team player and strategist. It's a cool way to show Deku's progress by having other people view him as a threat.
Absolutely!! Lol When Ghost Gal says he's spooky, she's really spot on about him lol BECAUSE Deku is THAT much of a threat, even more so than Kaachan, BECAUSE hes a "Nerd" and Team Player, so absolutely in a Team of Supports, HE'S THAT GUY 🤷lol
16:00 I feel like no one else but me noticed this, but Katsuki doesn’t actually explode Setsuna here, He simply use’s a flash grenade. Another small example of his character growth. Back in the sports festival if he had someone in this position he would have pulled a Ochako Fighy level explosion here, but he didn’t. He only did what was needed
I especially love this episode bc it’s the first one where I could finally visibly recognize and appreciate Bakugo’s development and him as a character. Him taking to heart All Might’s words after his fight with Midoriya at the end of season 3, and implementing what he’s learned without having to sacrifice his personality, has added so much depth to his character. I’m glad I get to genuinely enjoy him as a character now, knowing to what point his path has taken him, and I can’t wait to see where the story takes him next!
This battle really shows a difference between a team leader and a person leading and expecting everyone to follow. Until recently, Bakugo was the latter, and while his strategies may have worked out, it caused the resentment of his classmates and the group dynamics weren't great. Here he was acting like an actual leader, still rough around the edges, but actually trying to be a part of the team and taking his classmates' opinions into account.
The thing class b doesn't get about Bakugo is that he is a living explosion and you do not control an explosion, you can only direct its blast. And class 1a running as support is the best way to direct that blast optimally
This was my favorite of these matches. Bakugo literally showed why he's such a beast and will be one of the top heroes after he graduates. He's so powerful, fast, and capable and combined with how he has grown to be able to actually work with his team it led to this total victory. As a hero he can almost certainly be a contender for #1.
Bakugou, moreso than Shoto, has always been Endeavor's mirror. Even when All-Might was #1 on the charts, Endeavor had more rescues, more saves, more "hero" work done than All-Might (comes naturally with All-Might only being able to work an hour or two a day), it was actually only his personality holding him back, though he thought it was the showmanship of being infinitely powerful that was the obstruction. Lord Explosion Murder falls into the same pit versus Deku here. Everyone knows he's probably the most competent person in their class or at least competing for it, but they also all universally respect Deku more.
Honestly, Bakugo shows some good strategic thinking in this episode. Often, people think of strategy as a series of plans and backup plans, but that needs a lot of thinking and communication in advance, and heavily relies on what knowledge you have at the time of planning. When you have minimal time, information, and/or ability to communicate, setting up a system that allows each member of the team to react on the fly while still working together as a cohesive unit is often a better investment than coming up with backup plans upon backup plans.
The power of character development is strong with Bakugo Also just imagine the impact of first getting spun around with explosions speeding up the spin, to then getting tossed at a building, like damn that looked cool
I loved Montana's comparison to the sports festival! In both cases, Bakugo ended up with victory, but he only felt good about it when he took the time to save people rather than just focus on winning
I wonder how Bakugo would feel if he learned his match lasted one episode while Deku's lasted three. 🤔 Would he be angry at the less screentime, or boastful that he won faster?
He is underrated in this episode. He showed great observation and analysis and provided an opening for Bakugo to take out the star player from the other team.
Also did you anyone notice that none of the 4 students that got into UA with recommendations won the teams of the creation girl and lizard girl both got swept 4-0 and Todoroki and the Mud guy tied but they were both unconscious at the end
Class B Defense Team Setsuna Tokage Hero Name: Lizardy Quirk: Lizard Tail Splitter Grade: D Hero Class: Rescue/Containment/Detective This is bar none, the weirdest quirk in all of MHA. We’ve seen shame, we’ve seen pull out eyeballs, dysfunctional neck, solid air, twist up hallways, lock things in time and space still, and VARIOUS others. But split your body into 50 pieces and independently move every single one of them WITHOUT having much trouble keeping track of an entire battlefield. (I guess she’s TECHNICALLY an environment setter…because she is an environment) THAT is not only impressive and EXACTLY why she’s the intelligence recommendations student of Class B (same type of class as Momo.) This is not only a crazy power, but finding ANYTHING to power her up is just nuts. She as a SINGLE person can completely surround you, she can take and react to Bakugo explosions, and she can still arm herself with weapons and other aspects. Apparently whole arm makes shockwaves when it’s put together for super punches. But the thing that throws me off more than ANYTHING about her quirk is her body function as a whole. How does her blood flow? How does she breathe?! HOW DO POOP?! She breaks EVERY human body rule there is. Skeletal system, nervous system, digestive system, respiratory system, muscular system, and SO many others. Not a SINGLE one makes sense in this girl. SHE FREAKING FLIES AND REGENERATES HER BODY. HOW DOES SHE DO THAT?! WHAT THE HECK IS THIS POWER?! She is BROKEN simply because there is next to NO way to figure out how her body works. (Would electricity even be a problem for her?! How does her body send signals to itself?!) Sero is a freaking genius to figure out as much as he did. She’s a SUPER GENIUS to keep track of all of this at once. She does make me wonder how strong she is WITHOUT splitting herself up, and if she can just FLY no conditions met for that. I can’t even IMAGINE what equipment she would need. She can literally have some kind of blaster at a distance and blades up close at the same time. Her versatility ABSOLUTELY rivals Momo’s honesty because of how little her power makes sense. She’s compared to a lizard so she must be weak to ice and cold if I’m going to guess. If she can have her costume change colors she’s even MORE likely to catch you off guard with camouflage. I…am genuinely at a loss for this one. I’ll just quote Yugioh abridged and say this girl says “Screw the rules, I have green hair.” In previous arcs she would have been CRAZY if she were active. She probably should have just WON the obstacle race. (She DEFINITELY held back the most of the Class B people who did in the race) In the cavalry battle she honestly could have carried her team even when frozen and just floated around grabbing headbands unless ice REALLY messes her up. And on the bracket itself she probably would have done pretty solid too. She probably was among the 1st to get out of the provisional license 1st round, but she was completely off the grid for the camp attack despite being VERY helpful there. Maybe she got gassed out? Kojiro Bondo Hero Name: Plamo Quirk: Cemedine Grade: C to B Hero Class: Containment Ok I won’t deny we didn’t see enough of him to get a good scope of his range and overall coverage of his abilities. He COULD be a B grade because he could just dump out his guts based on what we saw. And based on what he did, that MADE him a C grade he covered buildings worth of distance, there’s DEFINITELY potential. For equipment he could get some literal glue guns for better range. But this is the spot where I stop complimenting him on potential. He is BAR NONE the worst performer of all of Class B today. All 20 kids. He could REALLY shake up how he functions with his quirk depending how he dries his glue, but on the physical front. Just a DUMPSTER fire. He doesn’t seem to know how to run, he IMMEDIATELY taps out when pinned, and he’s a REALLY big guy. He SHOULD be much more beefy based on his body size, but he just…doesn’t. He did one thing well, ran, failed to run away, got tackled and tapped out. He stood no chance in this fight honestly. He needs to SERIOUSLY get physically active. And I just don’t see how his quirk will be used for anything BUT containment. Even if he really weaponized hot glue, it would just be better to GLUE people. I don’t see it being any good for rescue. MAYBE vibration recon if he uses it like webbing. There’s just NOT a lot to work with for him. I only found one moment where he covered Monoma in the cavalry battle and fused Bakugo’s team to the ground briefly. Didn’t seem like his team was meant to do anything BUT use Bondo. Especially with Manga as the back horse of the 3. Togaru Kamakiri Hero Name: Jack Mantis Quirk: Razor Sharp Grade: C Hero Class: Combat We have a blade user! Don’t see too many of these guys in MHA! He can cut through building foundations with ease, he has reflexes that keep up with Bakugo, he is pretty impressive! I see he also favors stabbing walls to keep himself in place to regain his footing pretty fast. He’s a pretty solid speedster and he really has good awareness of his surroundings. However, there is a great deal he should work on. I find it weird he actively AVOIDS close combat. He keeps his distance almost the whole battle and doesn’t want head on confrontation. A SWORD user. Getting close to Bakugo IS dangerous but being close also makes it hard for him to unleash full blasts. Not gonna lie, I think they’ve been keeping him from being a sword master with his quirk to avoid him hurting his classmates. And that’s DEFINITELY meant to be his thing. Sword fighters have to be in close range. Even if he can shoot his blades that’s not enough to dedicate to long range. Even if he can make WINGS out of his blades it’s not enough long range. MAYBE if he could do moves like AFO and the weird finger stretches he really liked against All-Might in season 3 would be enough justification. (The glowing tendrils he made.) He would REALLY have to stretch those blades. So I think his training might be a bit more incomplete compared to a few of his classmates because they have to be better than him so he doesn’t hurt them as he does the major mastery part of his quirk. Which is a shame. He’ll probably be a late bloomer in skill level, but based on what we’ve seen, he definitely can keep up. The lil Scyther is pretty impressive with speed and accuracy. Don’t know how I’d equip him. He IS the equipment. (He COULD possibly arm other teammates with swords) And armor seems bad for his speed focus. He was with Pony in their 2 person team as the short range for their basic short range/long range combo. Yosetsu Awase Hero Name: Welder (how this guy is not called Blacksmith is beyond me) Quirk: Weld Grade: F Hero Class: Containment (and LOOKING like Combat) On the technical front, this is the 2nd worst quirk only above Anivoice. It’s OFTEN a double if not TRIPLE contact quirk to fully weld objects together depending on what he’s doing. That is SO MANY points of contact it should make him completely unviable because that is ABYSMAL. And yet…he’s also the fastest person in Class B. Without question. No one is close. He apparently works at his family’s factory and has a TON of practice with his quirk. And it shows. His little weldcraft move is such a small part of the fight you don’t have time to think about it. He made inbetween 2-3 DOZEN POINTS OF ACCURATE CONTACT IN LESS THAN A SECOND ON COMPLETELY DIFFERENT SPOTS ON BAKUGO’S BODY TO PIN A FLYING BAKUGO IN PLACE. COMPLETELY. BAKUGO COULD NOT ESCAPE WITHOUT SATO. THIS IS RIGHT UP THERE WITH INASA YOARASHI’S 360 PERFECT SHOTS OVER A CITY BLOCK WHIRLWIND IN SEASON 3 ON SKILL AND ACCURACY LEVEL. Obviously Inasa has him beat since he’s ABOVE Todoroki in power usage, but this just blew me out of the water. Awase is proof even the most unviable of quirks can get absolutely INSANE if they find the right application. If he can weld, I hope he can go full Blacksmith a smelt stuff too. It’s not impossible for this to become more viable. He’s also wearing full ARMOR in this fight too. A tanky speedster is a rare combo. He can be crazy in the long term too. Because he also raises more questions than answers. He’ll never lose his weapons and can make sure no one else does too. I think a large 2 handed hammer should be his weapon of choice both for close combat but also easy attachment to other surfaces he hits. I don’t remember them covering how he DEACTIVATES his quirk but that could be a SOLID way to get projectiles too. He TOUCHES you and you can’t escape him. So REALLY easy containment moves. And he can anchor himself to the ground really easy if his target tries to just get away carrying him. I wonder if he can melt surfaces mid welding to reshape them too. Theres POTENTIAL. He likely LITERALLY held his team together for the cavalry battle carrying team Tetsu. (He likely did NOTHING else because he was on the same team as 3 of the strongest Class B fighters.) He also was a pretty major player at the camp attack fusing the tracker to the Nomu that LEAD to the big AFO battle. And he saved Momo from the same Nomu carrying her fused to him. This is the defense team of Class B since they spend this entire fight basically doing hit and run and trying to stay back from Bakugo trying to get him to be impatient and lose control. And they ABSOLUTELY could’ve pulled that off. But once they were figured out, there was nothing else to fall back on because everyone on this team is VERY technical.
For Awase, he is able to deactivate his weld on command, since he was attached then unattached to momo in the forest camp. This could help with mobility such as wall running or crawling. As for points of contact, i dont think he needs to literally touch the places where two objects will be attached. As seen with the tracker on the nomu, he was touching the nomu and the other side of the tracker, but it still welded to it. As for improvement, spreading the effect of Weld like Rock Locks Deadbolt would be great since it can work on organic material. As for other applications, rescue does seem possible, since he could weld together structures and supports. Heck, he didnt even scratch the surface of healing. Open wounds? Just weld it together to stop the bleeding.
For Bondo, why not train his quirk to instantly dry the glue into hard constructs. Dried glue isnt sticky and becomes pretty hard. That makes it better for defense, offense, and rescue, not just containment. He already changes the property of his glue, why not make it hard or rubbery and not just sticky. Heck, maybe have a glue armor type of move. Make his costume so that his glue doesnt work on himself. Minetas costume already has that feature.
You brought up Awase's clutch save back at the training camp, where he kept Momo alive and stuck her tracker onto that Nomu. Apparently, after that experience, Awase developed a little bit of a crush on Class A's VP. 😏
@@Kaempfdog kamakiri reminds me of the webtoon Jungle Juice. Mha/tokyo ghoul but just bug powers. Different insect human had different abilities manifest. Anyways, why not copy what the blade guy kirishima faced in season 4 and use the blades to propel off the ground for higher jumps. He should so think of having his own fighting style like ojiro, as well as study different blades and how to attack with them in different parts of his body. If he can break off blades from himself, why not throwing daggers. He should also have a bladed form that makes him more aerodynamic
@@tobofu5978 the deactivation being as Awase wants is huge. As for the tracker, he was touching both the Nomu and the tracker so I wouldn’t be surprised if it homes in on the closest touching surface. Possible healing is MASSIVE. And spread is as usual a big jump for anything.
Class A Balanced Team Katsuki Bakugo Hero Name: King Explosion Murder no wait Lord Explosion Murder, Dog, Bad Dog, Stupid Dog, Hey you, YOU THERE, GET OUT LEAVE IT DROP IT, Big Rat, Small Pig, Rat Face, Butt Nugget, - For Brains…but nothing really stuck. Sooooo TBD. (Name the movie I referenced in there.) Quirk: Explosion Grade: S (story demanded.) Hero Class: Combat, Combat, more Combat/Detective/Containment (still in extra classes for rescue) This kid puts himself under all the same pressures as Deku’s OFA training. Perfection is unattainable. BUT what is attainable is the best of the best. Complete victory. And MAN the precision of his flight, combat, and tracking everything his teammates try to communicate in what must be literal split seconds of decisions is nothing short of astonishing. He said he got stronger so there is a very good chance he does actually match Deku’s new 8% level since Deku forced his body to the next level fighting Overhaul. (I saw no sonic booms around Bakugo’s movements that often surround Deku when he fights at 20% so it’s too soon to say the 20% level except MAYBE the gauntlet blasts but not likely) As for his quirk, as I’m sure you can imagine he has a TON of potential. He has 3 facets of his quirk at his disposal. The explosion, the shockwave, and the wind current. And between his twirling missile techniques, and just how unshackled he is under any given circumstance, AND just how instinctive and balanced he is truly demonstrate how much potential he REALLY has. He DOES have a big minefield of potential to unlock. Since nitroglycerin is his sweat in his palms, it must be his sweat overall. And that widens his arsenal a LOT with that in mind. Hands free flight, and can keep anyone back if they get close much easier. We’ve seen interesting moments like him sweating on people so Todoroki can cause a delayed blast with him heating it up. Perhaps he can find ways to do that on his own. He’s already testing that with personal grenades to give to his teammates. He can’t fully curve or shape shots but he can scatter, condense, and he seemed to be workshopping some kind of chain move against Deku in Season 3. It’s hard to really extend what he does already but a few ideas I’ve come up with are maybe he can make a field for himself to cause him to sweat more and get his quirk buffs faster by letting a mist be extended without igniting. Like a humidifier of his sweat. Perhaps he can have devices that heat up enough to cause the explosion in places not in line where his hands are pointed for unpredictability. I think boxing style is the best martial art he can pick up. And each and every point he focuses catapults him. I think his ideal flight method would be like Korra in the finale of book 3. Blasting from his feet and hands simultaneously and only letting go in the places he needs to since he’s so good at spinning moves already. Might as well capitalize on that. That being said, he can’t completely shake his weaknesses unlike Todoroki and the other S-tiers I haven’t brought up. Which means he will always have the super nasty recoil of popping sweat glands that can seriously mess him up pushing himself too hard. (Hence the story demand) Hanta Sero Hero Name: Cellophane Quirk: Tape Grade: D Hero Class: Containment/Rescue Now he is absolutely the biggest Spider-Man reference at this juncture in the show. But he DOES lack what makes Spider-Man so broken. No spider sense, no sticking to walls, not a science super genius, but he does have web slinging down pat. He really hasn’t gotten the chance to perform in ANY of the training arcs OR the villain encounters. He won a single race right before final exams, made some cool snares in the provisional license exam and made…ONE brace (and scored highly for the rescue test) but that’s honestly it. Well that and proved he has a fantastic sense of style in the dorm room decorating episode. We know he’s as fast as Deku at 5% of his 8% stockpile level when he runs as fast as Deku and that makes him 92 mph from that point. And he’s swinging around keeping up with Bakugo as much as he can and that’s no small feat. He finds himself stuck at multiple points unable to get moves in from the environment being too busy to attack in. He has to be a much more major strategist in order to thrive. He’s starting to get it with how he figures out Tokage…which is DEFINITELY a massive props moment just based on that quirk, and he’s not going to mindlessly make tape trap he can he can find. They aren’t always applicable. I think he SHOULD aim to get equips that let him walk on walls so he can make much more unexpected traps and much less easy to predict movement. It’s all strategy here. Maybe he can get more shooters for his suit too. I’d also have him not just make traps but slingshots and walkways for his tape to provide greater support for his classmates to find better ways to get around and out of messes. And that could also help him launch other weapons too. I mean I assume his tape is only sticky on one side a lot of the time so he can have more utilization for the non sticky sides. I’d also wonder if he can make his tape clear for when he DOES make traps so people are less likely to see them. For gear I’d have ways for him to use vibrations of his tape like a spider uses it and can even use it to communicate with others like Morse code. You’ll find a lot of his potential just looking at what Spider-Man does. Kyoka Jiro Hero Name: Earphone Jack Quirk: Earphone Jack Grade: A Hero Class: Rescue/Detective (but an easy case to be made for her to have all 4 classes. She focuses harder on 2.) This is a quirk a LOT of people sleep on. She’s no slouch. She’s one of the few that ACTUALLY got to counter the teacher she faced. And it looks like her sound blasts are going to be stronger than Present Mic’s since she can completely bust rock and metal ALREADY. And we’ve seen Present Mic blast across an entire forest, and it literally went across what is EASILY the size of a city district. Vibrations, sound, wind, it’s all of it. Her scouting is the best of the class, and just based on how good her long range is now, I have no doubt this girl can get to city level. And it disrupts your internal functioning too. It’s freaking called heartbeat surround. She has the force to knock off molecularly welded armor, cause long range ground reshaping, and her moves are almost ALWAYS fast knockouts of opponents. She does still COMPLETELY lack melee and her mobility has never been very good, and her quirk has a VERY strong and hard to overcome sensory overload weakness. Which is likely something she can’t overcome as her whole path is making her moves even HIGHER sensory boosting. I think if she got instrument weapons, she could boost both long and short range. (I’d love her to swing a guitar like an ACTUAL axe so she can combine her love of music and her hero work. Be a rock star hero. But she also didn’t seem to be too interested in combining her hobby and career. But she ABSOLUTELY could) I wonder if she have her boots instead of being speaker attacks like in early seasons be sensors while she runs so she doesn’t have the issue of simultaneous mobility as her scouting. And for something REALLY big she could have a straight up sonic cannon she can amplify. Sonic attacks are a STRONG weapon. And she’s VERY difficult to counter her specialties without someone of a very similar style of specialties as her. Rikido Sato Hero Name: Sugar Man Quirk: Sugar Rush Grade: C Hero Class: Combat We got another brawler and at 1st I thought his development was more or less done. I just couldn’t see what path he could take to get better. I had to sit down and see if there was anything he could do. Well one big thing for him is I straight up didn’t see him consume sugar for this match at all. Meaning his natural speed and strength WITHOUT sugar consumption is getting PRETTY serious to be shattering metal surfaces, and he was PRETTY confident in being able to completely hold what must be several tons of pipework falling on them from the big glue trap. And even though he does have a cognitive recoil he’s never seemed to be one of the brawlers that doesn’t think. He is however the most stagnant person in all of Class A. So I knew I’d have to work a bit harder on his improvements. He’s OBVIOUSLY built to be a wrestler type of fighter and I remember someone once upon a time gave me a literal list of renamed wrestling moves from other wrestlers that Sato could use. Which I thought was AMAZING. (Thanks a million Tobofu. You rock!) I also realized for variety that different sugars likely have various different effects on him. Some likely boost his speed more than power, some could give him MUCH greater power and tankier, but make him lack speed, and heck some could make him smarter but more frail and slower. I base this off of the IQ girl from the provisional license exam. Her quirk was based on tea brand. And they all had a wide range of effect. There may be ones that are ABSOLUTELY better than others, but it doesn’t mean that the others are not applicable depending the circumstance. The same should apply to Sato. Chances are the balanced power and speed boost from regular sugar should be the best, but who is to say it wouldn’t be better to weigh into one over the other? For equipment I’d straight up have him use like sugar smoke bombs or something of that variety. Blinding others while boosting himself. He can have more use from gauntlets like many brawlers. I’d also like to see him have some kind of move that involves jello for mobility by bouncing off it or something. He might be the quite LITERAL most forgettable character of Class A, having no major moment of his own to stand on at all, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t deserve attention. The guy is still quite powerful.
Sato Supermoves -GumDropkick -Lollipop Lariat -Candy Crush (a bear hug) -Sugar Bomb (a powerbomb) -Tart Tackle -Rocky Road (hits the ground so hard that it shakes, causing opponents to lose footing) -Waffle Press (diving crossbody) -Chiffon Chop -Sugar Overdose(his last resort, similar to recipro turbo but with strength. He consumes way more sugar, this time he is 10 times stronger, his brain function still gets decreased, but now he has consumed so much sugar that he is in a hyper mode where he attacks on pure instinct similar to Beast. All his other super moves are also Overdosed. After this he passes out)
Its funny you mentioned sugar smoke bombs, because some wrestlers have a move where they shoot a mist out of their mouths to blind the opponent. Its usually from a capsule they break in their mouths and spit it out. Why not a sugary version of that, gives him a boost and shoots the mist to blind them
@@HaydrogenBombXD I was considering name dropping his chosen hero name to use lack of belief of his choice, but I’m happy I thought of that quote instead
So here we have the character Kamakiri who’s hero name is Jack Mantis, he is a green insectiod looking hero who can create blades for cutting from his body. Now in the manga/anime Black Clover there is a character called Jack the Ripper, he is the captain of the Green Mantis’ who uses slash magic a kind of magic that allows him to generate insect like blades from his arms and cut through most things….coincidence?!?
@@jharoddreonb1473 potentially all I know is this is the 2nd time (and not the last) where a character in MHA directly resembles a character from another manga/anime
19:50 love that Monoma called Bakugo "compatriot"..not like " fellow hero course student" or even "school mate"..no no..the only thing is that they are both from the same country..not even city..
Thinking about real-life non-combat applications of superpowers is usually a can of worms best left unopened, but Lizard Tail Splitter could probably have a very helpful, lucrative future as a living organ donor, presuming the parts that stop moving don't disappear.
There are of course only so many songs that can be made for a series but there are particular times that a song gets reused that I absolutely *love* and this has one of them. The music that kicks in right after the explanation of the weld quirk is the same one that's used when Kirishima jumps in to hold of Rappa the second time in the spear and shield fight. And it's *such a heroic* track. There's no other way to describe it. I will always associate the song with that moment but this scene deserves its use which can be hard to say when it's associated with such a peak moment.
As the series goes on you can tell exactly when Bakugo respects each of his classmates when he changes from using nicknames and vague descriptions to using their names.
It's either an oversight in the translation or Vlad doesn't consider Kendo's a perfect match cause they barely won and were kinda hurt at the end, despite being a 4-0 win as well
They had the chance for a nice little reference in giving Setsuna "Buggy" as her hero name. On the other hand... Check Mantis is such an awesome name! 😂
"How has no one died" is the best way too describe this show. because if this wasn't a kid show they are absolutly supposed to die after few of these stunts. Hell episode 8 should have killed either midoriya or bakugo if midoriya hit at him.
I don't know If It has something to being a kid show since in jjk megumi got kikced throuhg a hole building in EP 5 and survived without injuries.I believe It dependa on the characters in said situations and the way the author writes.

Bakugo is basically constantly talking himself up and being all "I'm the best and I'm amazing and super strong!" And he's doing it cause he's right. Bakugo is INCREDIBLY skilled and he may well work harder than anyone else in class, my man is rivaling DEKU for sheer effort in developing every facet of his hero skill set.
Ok now because this is the only round that’s not 2 episodes, of course there was a subject big enough I needed to address at the same time as the 8 character profile. A certain SOMEONE’S character that’s been PRETTY quiet through season 4. Bakugo. (I’m going to brace for impact as I intentionally step on this fandom landmine) Now I’m sure this subject will come up today so I’ll bring up Bakugo’s soft side. And I’ve been HAMMERING at anytime the guy gives Deku crap throughout the show. For all intents and purposes the fandom has decided that Deku and Bakugo have all but completely made up at this point and Bakugo is going with some kind of Tsundere schtick for with his newfound secret bestie. (Sighhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. The extra h’s are needed, and I will audibly empty my lungs to commit to that.) If you pay attention you can see who he provides that schtick to, and there ARE plenty of people he can and WILL provide that to. For starters, his team this episode. He fully expects them to cover him with little to no communication and they never went over any signals. Yet they all were moving in layered tandem effortlessly and Bakugo can PRETEND to be pure tough guy but he was having the absolute time of his life this ENTIRE match. And when All-Might told him he gave him chills, you can TELL how much that meant to him by the silence. (There is some teenage girl Jonas Brother’s screaming going on up there as far as I’m concerned) He is pretty genuinely supportive of Kirishima at this point and he doesn’t really hold that back to the fullest anymore and also has a pretty clear soft spot for Kaminari too. There’s also the running pattern of when he truly respects your strength he will go from some kind of nickname to calling you by name. He did this for Kirishima in season 2, he did this to Uraraka in their match and the two of them still remain VERY close in power. Based on personality, there are two people that Bakugo will struggle a LOT with getting along with going forward. One is Iida. Mr I need my pencil at a perfect parallel angle with my desk and is in genuine crisis when he’s the only one standing telling people to sit and is horrified when he’s the only one not in the single file line. They have kinda proven time and time again their mindsets are…shall we say NOT in alignment. The other…is Deku. It’s STILL Deku. I’ve gone lengths to show what is at the base of Deku and Bakugo’s rivalry isn’t the start of a new friendship but Bakugo’s VERY SPECIFIC accommodation to All-Might. When you look at Bakugo’s patterns there’s a few things Bakugo has taken off the board while talking to Deku. He no longer insults Deku’s “useless power” and he no longer looks for every excuse possible to just WHACK Deku. Let’s see how we can apply that into just how chummy these two are this episode. Hmmmm. The instant, the ABSOLUTE INSTANT Deku talks he COMPLETELY snaps out of his silent joy from All-Might praise to scream at him. Then he refers to his competition with OFA very seriously as he feels like he’s displayed himself in a way that competes with the chosen one as that is what interests him, and THEN goes back to shouting insults at Deku. (To Bakugo, this guy is such a loser he STILL managed to lose with the single most indestructible power on the planet, and Deku informed him that he hasn’t improved too much since…even though his power has SKYROCKETED since that fight) Deku accommodates this by trying to prove him wrong, but he’s going up against someone DELIBERATELY trying to avert his gaze from any improvement of his to ANYTHING personal. He has been uninvolved in the Overhaul raid, and All-Might’s extra training so he is treating him as he intends to after their rematch in season 3. And there’s a BIG reason I can’t say Bakugo has made leaps and bounds in improvement between the two of them SPECIFICALLY. That conversation about Deku’s progress all 2 SENTENCES is ALL the communication that has occurred between the two of them since that rematch, and there’s a blank all the way until THIS arc where he starts by REFUSING to let Deku even talk about his hero costume with him. And THEN brings up this is where he lectures them sneaking off alone while All-Might provides Deku personal lessons and training. (So that’s 2 sentences exchanged over a SEASON AND A HALF. And the majority is STILL INSULTS.) There has been absolutely no development of endearment as there has LITERALLY been no place in the show for that to develop SINCE that rematch. And I can tell you now, IT WAS NOT THERE in that season 3 episode. (S3E23 in case you’ve forgotten) Also does anyone think he means “hero” or “I can do it” when he calls him Deku? Because THAT complication remains. Only Uraraka knows the true meaning of his hero name and I REALLY doubt Bakugo has changed his approach about the name even WHEN the name officially changed meaning for Deku. He’s still calling him “worthless” every moment he can. Deku is an absolute anomaly to those Bakugo has secret endearment for through his tough guy act. And we’ve been shown MANY times what that pattern is and he really doesn’t stray from it at any point in the series. Which is EXACTLY how I know Deku does not reside in Bakugo’s secret boat of approval. I said in season 3 that Bakugo more than anything accommodates All-Might and literally goes as far out of his way as possible to NOT accommodate Deku on a personal level and declares war that not even a chosen one will stop his climb and desire to be the #1 Hero. That declaration wouldn’t have been different for anyone else, but Deku being the chosen one SPECIFICALLY was one of the biggest causes of his mental breakdowns as Bakugo simply DOES not understand All-Might’s choice, but DOES respect All-Might AND his choice. And that’s enough for him to go along with this. But let’s not make this about how far he’s come from that decision that night. The needle NEVER MOVED. Unlike with quirks and offtime we aren’t meant to put together offscreen development when shown 2 different but structurally the same feats occur. That goes QUADRUPLE for main characters. And for Deku on a personal level? These conversations where he’s been QUIETLY insulting him might as well be nothing. Because he can’t stop even in these important OFA conversations HE WANTS TO BE APART OF. That’s why Deku is USED to this. He just found his way to bite back a little and temper the storm ONCE. And got the crap beaten out of him for it. (Epically but still that fight was all Bakugo forcing aggression on Deku) For his rise to being All-Might’s successor? This addition is an overall net positive. One of the most important lines as a description of their relationship. “Out of my way!” “I’m not in your way so what does that even mean?” Bakugo CONTINUES to show large aggression to someone he perceives in his way, but the reality is he never really was. And I HAVE to keep bringing this up. Now after all of this let me be VERY clear. I REALLY enjoy Bakugo. He’s hilarious, I love and acknowledge his development, how he works off others and his GREAT complications that make him such a complex character. He has his group of people in the Class he DEFINITELY enjoys spending time with and he himself gets more accommodating with others as time goes on from children, to people he competes with and a variety of pros he DEFINITELY has a soft spot for. But I see people fill in the gaps FAR too easily that because of his improvements, that extends to Deku and Bakugo with no drawback. Accommodating and working together are two VERY different things. And I just have to show JUST how long and rocky the road bully/victim to something GENUINELY healthy truly is. Their rivalry is STILL toxic.
I can't wait to hear your thoughts on Bakugo throughout season six, especially at the end. Like how Montana is with Endeavor, this is a developing we see play out throughout the entire series.
It's so weird to me bc i can acknowledge bakugo's growth and conviction, but still, i can't like him, i just don't feel anything towards him other than im happy that he's respecting izuku now (manga reader) but even then, i just don't like him. At least now i can watch him and not get annoyed or angry when he's on the screen, but I don't actually care, still is great that he got an internal growth tho i don't like his attitude
I Low key think that if horokoshi had gone through with it, that alone would’ve made the final war a lot better. Spoiler Bakugo’s death could’ve gave deku so much character development and it low key would’ve been a good ending to bakugo
You don’t have to like him he’s an acquired taste. If people give you a hard time because of that they are just not realizing that he’s an a**hole to anyone who’s not confident and doesn’t show strength in character. He’s my favorite character in the series. I like him because he’s blunt and an endearing asshole reminds me of my best friend. I like that he’s pretty much a gag character who’s also a main character as well. Aside from my love for the character, not liking him is also valid as with a lot of characters.
@@spacemonkeygaming925 Spoiler. Meh. I really love how the story wrapped up, so I don't mind the fake out. Bakugo still has a lot of room to grow, cutting his story short would have been a shame.

Ah yes. When everyone starts to acknowledge that Bakugo has grown as a character
yep well well well
It’s always funny going back and seeing Bakugo’s character growth. Going from thinking he’s extra or annoying to just laughing when he yells “DIE”
This battle shows why Bakugo has one of my favorite powers in media. The dynamic, explosive movement, the acrobatics and grappling, the massive medium range attacks
It’s just COOL

@@Joseph-ky3os I’m glad you said Spider-Man, because that’s exactly who it reminds me of. There’s a sort of sway to it where he has these bursts of speed and then when gravity just barely takes him, he fires off again, and it’s so much like Spider-Man
I love trying to think of other powers that could achieve that motion because it’s so satisfying
@@unseenasymptote4976 Just like a well made Spider-Man game needs to really capture the feeling of web slinging but feels so good when you get it, I feel like a game fully centered around getting Bakugo style movement and fighting would be insanely satisfying.
Yeah I love they acknowledge that
Absolutely!!

I feel like no one else but me noticed this, but Katsuki doesn’t actually explode Setsuna here, He simply use’s a flash grenade. Another small example of his character growth. Back in the sports festival if he had someone in this position he would have pulled a Ochako Fighy level explosion here, but he didn’t. He only did what was needed
Not necessarily, he only used his high level explosions because Ochako was that big of a threat. As per her meteor shower.
I’m now realizing how much of Monoma’s plan rested on Bakugo being a jerk like before. I won’t lie, that’s pretty funny
I feel like such a proud parent watching Bakugo this episode 🥺🥺🧡💥
what Bakugo did to class B should be rated +18 i mean damn.
This battle really shows a difference between a team leader and a person leading and expecting everyone to follow. Until recently, Bakugo was the latter, and while his strategies may have worked out, it caused the resentment of his classmates and the group dynamics weren't great. Here he was acting like an actual leader, still rough around the edges, but actually trying to be a part of the team and taking his classmates' opinions into account.
i absolutely love this episode, shows sm of bakugo’s character development
I love the dub but I miss the sub line "Are you telling me Bakugou has had character development?!"
Bakugou unlocked Teamwork!
The power of character development is strong with Bakugo
Also just imagine the impact of first getting spun around with explosions speeding up the spin, to then getting tossed at a building, like damn that looked cool
I loved Montana's comparison to the sports festival! In both cases, Bakugo ended up with victory, but he only felt good about it when he took the time to save people rather than just focus on winning
I wonder how Bakugo would feel if he learned his match lasted one episode while Deku's lasted three. 🤔
Would he be angry at the less screentime, or boastful that he won faster?
Clearly boasting. Shows how much better he is.
Bakugo's match lasted Half an episode, not even a full one
Ngl Tyrant would be a solid hero name for Bakugo. Encapsulates the death murder edgelord explosion king thing while still rolling off the tongue.
I like the one he ends up with more because of symbolism IYKYK. But that is a great option.
Bakugo is awesome but we gotta talk about Sero, this guy is a troll, the guy was laughing watching girl about be blown up by his trap.

This is bar none, the weirdest quirk in all of MHA. I’ll just quote Yugioh abridged and say this girl says “Screw the rules, I have green hair.”
In previous arcs she would have been CRAZY if she were active.
Kojiro Bondo
Hero Name: Plamo
Quirk: Cemedine
Grade: C to B
Hero Class: Containment
Ok I won’t deny we didn’t see enough of him to get a good scope of his range and overall coverage of his abilities.
Togaru Kamakiri
Hero Name: Jack Mantis
Quirk: Razor Sharp
Grade: C
Hero Class: Combat
We have a blade user!
Yosetsu Awase
Hero Name: Welder (how this guy is not called Blacksmith is beyond me)
Quirk: Weld
Grade: F
Hero Class: Containment (and LOOKING like Combat)
On the technical front, this is the 2nd worst quirk only above Anivoice.

(Hence the story demand)

Hero Name: Cellophane
Quirk: Tape

Hero Class: Containment/Rescue
Now he is absolutely the biggest Spider-Man reference at this juncture in the show.
Kyoka Jiro
Hero Name: Earphone Jack
Quirk: Earphone Jack
Grade: A
Hero Class: Rescue/Detective (but an easy case to be made for her to have all 4 classes. She focuses harder on 2.)
This is a quirk a LOT of people sleep on.
Rikido Sato
Hero Name: Sugar Man
Quirk: Sugar Rush
Grade: C
Hero Class: Combat
We got another brawler and at 1st I thought his development was more or less done.
Sato Supermoves
-GumDropkick
-Lollipop Lariat
-Candy Crush (a bear hug)
-Sugar Bomb (a powerbomb)
-Tart Tackle
-Rocky Road (hits the ground so hard that it shakes, causing opponents to lose footing)
-Waffle Press (diving crossbody)
-Chiffon Chop
-Sugar Overdose(his last resort, similar to recipro turbo but with strength.

19:50 love that Monoma called Bakugo "compatriot"..not like " fellow hero course student" or even "school mate"..no no..the only thing is that they are both from the same country..not even city..
This also shows what happens when 1-A doesn’t hold back 😂 cause you knew bakugo was not gonna hold back
Saving someone is a big deal for Bakugo...yes...but like accepting others saving him and learning to depend on others is a bigger deal...
I'm glad to see the cat's giving Kenny some attention this episode. Dad needs love to.
I would’ve added a Kamehameha sound so quickly😂😂 15:49
Thinking about real-life non-combat applications of superpowers is usually a can of worms best left unopened, but Lizard Tail Splitter could probably have a very helpful, lucrative future as a living organ donor, presuming the parts that stop moving don't disappear.
And Deku could spin a turbine, providing life-saving electrical power for millions of people!

Anyone know why Vlad calls this win the first perfect (4-0) victory of the day? Team Kendo had a perfect victory against Team Yaoyorozu.
It's either an oversight in the translation or Vlad doesn't consider Kendo's a perfect match cause they barely won and were kinda hurt at the end, despite being a 4-0 win as well
19:10 I am HOLLERING. XD
Monoma saying everyone is a side character for others, interesting.
The best episode of the arc
Funny enough, the weirdest moment this episode is the dub having deku call kacchan, bakugo for some reason
Why do I feel at the end of MHA Bakugo will self destruct or become a nuke.

I know it's not relevant to the video, but would you consider reacting to JoJo's Bizarre Adventure? I think that series has one of the most underrated dubs, and barely anyone reacts to it in dub.
And for one thing, the show is made to be seen in Japanese. Most memes are more successful in Japanese. Heck, I myself am planning to watch JoJo in Japanese because it's mean to be seen in Japanese.
Maybe, but these two do not watch anime in Japanese. And having watched JoJo in both Japanese and English, it is NOT significantly better in Japanese.
@@critica77y77I know, I'm not trying to add fuel to the Dub vs Sub war. I'm simply stating my opinion. That said, I'm sure they would watch it dub and it can be everyone's first exposure to it. Heck, I watched the Komi-San dub with low expectations and it was better than I imagined.
Bakugo is basically constantly talking himself up and being all "I'm the best and I'm amazing and super strong!"
And he's doing it cause he's right. Bakugo is INCREDIBLY skilled and he may well work harder than anyone else in class, my man is rivaling DEKU for sheer effort in developing every facet of his hero skill set.
Wonder if they’ll ever watch Bleach
Ok now because this is the only round that’s not 2 episodes, of course there was a subject big enough I needed to address at the same time as the 8 character profile. A certain SOMEONE’S character that’s been PRETTY quiet through season 4. Bakugo. (I’m going to brace for impact as I intentionally step on this fandom landmine)
Now I’m sure this subject will come up today so I’ll bring up Bakugo’s soft side. The extra h’s are needed, and I will audibly empty my lungs to commit to that.)
If you pay attention you can see who he provides that schtick to, and there ARE plenty of people he can and WILL provide that to.
I’ve gone lengths to show what is at the base of Deku and Bakugo’s rivalry isn’t the start of a new friendship but Bakugo’s VERY
SPECIFIC accommodation to All-Might.
(S3E23 in case you’ve forgotten)
Also does anyone think he means “hero” or “I can do it” when he calls him Deku?
“Out of my way!”
“I’m not in your way so what does that even mean?”
Bakugo CONTINUES to show large aggression to someone he perceives in his way, but the reality is he never really was.
Like how Montana is with Endeavor, this is a developing we see play out throughout the entire series.
weee
It's so weird to me bc i can acknowledge bakugo's growth and conviction, but still, i can't like him, i just don't feel anything towards him other than im happy that he's respecting izuku now (manga reader) but even then, i just don't like him.
At least now i can watch him and not get annoyed or angry when he's on the screen, but I don't actually care, still is great that he got an internal growth tho i don't like his attitude
I Low key think that if horokoshi had gone through with it, that alone would’ve made the final war a lot better. Spoiler
Bakugo’s death could’ve gave deku so much character development and it low key would’ve been a good ending to bakugo

Meh. I really love how the story wrapped up, so I don't mind the fake out. Bakugo still has a lot of room to grow, cutting his story short would have been a shame.
