    There is a little valve on the passenger side fuel rail that will release the fuel system pressure. That needs to be done first so you don't get a face full of fuel removing lines which should be done before you remove the bolts.

  • @zumadale
    @zumadale 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    Always easier to leave the filter assembly bolted on while removing lines...its held in place that way and not flopping all over. Use lube on the lines when installing the new one...just pop them easily in place...easy as pie.

    Should you be able to blow through the filter for these Jeep’s since there is a pressure regulator built in it?

    Would it also be good to relive the fuel pressure using the shrader valve?

    My 04 Jeep grande Cherokee straight 6 is stalling only when gas is being added. There is no hesitation while starting or driving. I pull up to the gas pump start pumping gas it will stall and have to crank a couple times before it restarts. then I don't have another problem with it until I get gas again. Help!!!!!

    • @HomeOwnerRepair
      @HomeOwnerRepair  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You should turn the vehicle off while pumping gas into it.

    • @trinahardy5000
      @trinahardy5000 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HomeOwnerRepair ya tried that, it doesn't want to start after a few cranks it will and again not another problem with it until I get gas again

    I just subscribed to your channel I have a question I have a 03 grand Cherokee Laredo and I went to do the fuel filter and the hard-line you explained in your video gave me problems and the clip busted inside the line How do I get a replacement line?

    • @HomeOwnerRepair
      @HomeOwnerRepair  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you can’t get the clip out of the line with a pair of needle nose pliers, you may be able to get a replacement line at the dealer.

    It looks like the frame could be cleaned up and oiled.
    It looks like it could use some new Springs.
    You did a good job on the filter change!

    I’ve replaced mine but now the car won’t turn on. I primed it a bunch of times. I heard there might be air in the system so I released the pressure through the valve, and it still doesn’t turn on. I don’t know what to do now 😩

    All parts stores list a FUEL FILTER...separate from PRESSURE REGULATOR! The fuel filters are cheaper for some reason...I think the filter only ones are the noisy ones! Wonder why OReillys...Autozone and NAPA all list two different filters...one called a regulator...the other...just a filter?
    My fuel pressure was over 60psi...until I got a pressure regulator one installed! Now the pressure is within specs and no whining.
    If you install an after market filter/regulator...it pays to hook up a fuel pressure gauge during each oil change to make sure the fuel pressure is within specs! Mine was 60psi plus...it whined like crazy on cold mornings.....at 60psi my injectors were dumping extra fuel into the engine and coating the exhaust pipe with black soot...not good!

      Yea I ordered the OMIX 17718.06 Fuel Filter for 99-04 from quadratech which looked exactly like the one used in this video. Only one of the bolts lined up and there's no rubber washers around the bolt like on my original. I installed it and everything was fine until a few days later and starting hearing the whistle/droning niose. I called quadratech and the guy told me that this company and the filter jeep uses from the factory and wasn't aware of the problem.
      I then ordered the cheaper Crown Automotive 52100283AG filter which specifically states that it is for model years 02-04. Mine is an 02 so I hoping this one fixes the problem.
