THAT CHASER PLANE IS BEING FLOWN BY MY SON.... TROY ASHER..... YES. I AM A PROUD PROUD, MOM.....:)
is he still a pilot for them?
Marco According to his linked-in page he is now director of flight operations at NASA as of about a month ago after being a test pilot for 10 years. Congrats! 🎉
Awesome Mom! hehe It's so good! I hope your family is safe lately in this pandemic. best wishes to you all. what a great video.. one of my all time favs. My father worked for NASA and I adore their projects.
Chris WG woah what was your fathers position in nasa??
@@mr.2gr33dy7 Worked on the LRV , oddly around my birth date which was neat to find out later. I am still trying to get the slides (pics) of the testing they did in the desert of the LRV. Cool stuff! It's so sad for my father lately, besides my mother having Cancer.. all of his old military/NASA buddies are passing away and their wives as well. My parents stayed friends with these people for so long.. it's so sad to watch this happen. Seems a piece of my fathers heart is removed daily with each passing. Thanks for asking. Cheers and stay safe brother.
I was teaching 1st grade when this happened. I remember that I kept my class outside after our lunch was over. No way were we gonna be inside my classroom and miss this! Our principal came over our PA system and told us that the shuttle had been sighted over the Coliseum and was headed our way. My school was a little over 4 miles away. I’ll never forget just how low they were flying. It was exciting, gorgeous, and it made me so proud! But my lasting memory was something one of my little 1st graders yelled. “MISS LUNA, IT’S THE MOMMY WITH THE BABIES!” 😂 This was made cuter by the fact that Anthony was the youngest in our class. He yelled that out in the cutest babyish voice. 🥰
I was in middle school when this happened, my teacher let us run out the class as we were watching it live on TV. I agree it was a beautiful thing to see
LMAO I love this
I remember hearing the roar of those engines faintly for 1 second and then suddenly it gets louder I immediately ran out of my house and looked up an then I saw that BIG ASS PLANE carrying the space shuttle Endeavor on it's back. That is 1 of the greatest moments to see with my own eyes. I will never forget that moment.👍👍
Damn i’ll never forget this moment this flew over my school at ritter elementary I remember the 2 fighter jets beside bot of it’s sides too
Flew by mine too. Santa Monica Boulevard Community Charter School.
Same here, mark keppel elementary
this was so epic! people will never really comprehend how massive this whole thing was! . space shuttle! missions! astronauts! research! NASA! A jet liner caring it on its back! flying it through the country! moving it through a city to a museum! where its been for 10 years! now ready to upright it and making an epic display! wow I can only watch. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
When I saw the Endeavour fly over my house here in Norwalk. It was such an inspiring moment that for some reason... I almost cried. No joke! It's amazing what humanity has accomplished.
Thank you NASA for an amazing experience.
Flew over my elementary school, ill never forget that day!

Ahhh man. I remember, I was in 2nd grade at recess in school and while I was just playing outside I see this fly right past my school. It flew by 3 times (I lived 15 mins give or take a few from the Hollywood sign which it was flying over). This experience changed me. I was already into space and stuff but this encouraged me a lot more to get into it. One of my favorite experiences from when I was younger. I’m now gonna be a sophomore on high school !
I saw it too when I was in 3rd grade. It lit a spark in me that showed me my passion for space and engineering. In august I will be attending the Georgia Institute of Technology pursuing a major in Aerospace engineering.
@@bigpoop3073 oh wow dude that’s sick. Congrats on the acceptance to Georgia Tech and good luck on future endeavors!
I have a shot of The Griffith Observatory with this flying over. The observatory was jam packed with people. LA was celebrating the day. Good stuff, NASA.
Haha this is awesome I was in middle school when this happened, everyone ran out during the middle of class to see it fly over.
I remember when it fly over my apartment building it was awesome 👏
I live in australia, but feel lucky this happened and i got to see this from Anaheim....i still can remember how good it looked like from a movie or something
I was at Griffith Observatory and tourist from all over the world just happen to be there for the fly over. This one man from Germany started to wipe away tears. It was such an amazing experience
Thanks for posting this wonderful video.
Very happy to have the Endeavour back in Los Angeles with the families that spent their lives building her!
Thanks to Ames for posting this fun video!
I've lived in LA all my life and knew we had loads of smog but damn!! The shots from 9:16-9:41 really put it into perspective.
I flew to L.A. from Puerto Rico in 1970 to visit my sister. Back then, the smog was so bad that it made your eyes sting really bad and tear up. You could barely open them during the middle of the day. In 1984 Smog Checks went under effect for cars models older than 1976. If it hadn’t been for that the smog would be so bad that it would probably be harder to breathe than it is already. I remember a college class in which a teacher told us that if we’d just punch a hole big enough in the San Gabriel Mountains the smog would have a way out and wouldn’t just sit trapped over L.A. 🤷🏼♀️
11 years laters it’s much better.
The weather was not your friend that day... whoever filmed this. Had it been a clear day, sunny, and green it would have been amazing!
My goodness that was incredible footage. I absolutely loved every minute of it. You almost get the feeling of being right there inside of the chase plane. Thank you so much for sharing this with all of us.
Great footage of a monument in flight. Would have loved to view the low pass at LAX live!
I still get chills watching this. An emotional day for sure...just this past January the California Science Center finally has the Endeavour back in it's vertical launch position.
One of the coolest videos I have ever seen!
I think it is one of the worst things we could have done is can the shuttle program. THIS WAS SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL AND AMAZING!
I remember when they flew right over my elementary school lol, I was 6 years old just eating some chicken nuggets during lunch and I see that huge plane flying with the shuttle and the 2 jets escorting it. I’ll never forget that moment.
Same here. I was in 2nd grade. Went to mark keppel elementary and saw that while I was at recess
so great video! Los Angeles look so big in the sunny of southern california
Aerial funeral for the beast that served man well.
Amazing!!!
What a marvel this is. My sons and I seen the fly-by from the Marin Headlands, we seen this beauty fly over the Golden Gate Bridge. That day was the only day that either of my kids ever missed a school day . Totally worth it.
It flew over my school and we all disregarded the rules running from lunch to see it from our field. When he said 'that's a nice stadium.' I paused and could see the general area of my home.
Beautiful footage, thank you!
I could watch this on a loop all day!
Just wonderful!
I was hanging out underneath the flight path as it buzzed LAX about 4 times that day. Each time the crowds scattered about would erupt in cheers and enthusiasm. everyone was proud that afternoon.
Man I remember back in elementary school in 6th grade my teacher would take the class to a field trip up the hill to watch the final flight of the space shuttle boy good memories.
probably one of the best videos i have EVER seen!!
The Space Shuttle and Los Angeles, a very special moment for me to see this. Goodbye Shuttle program, I will always love the stories.
Holy crap I never realized how close to the highway planes get when landing there! That would be epic to see first hand! lol
Beautiful !!!
Purely for show and the commemorative video being put together. That's why they flew by so many landmarks and why they (the camera plane) were making sure to get the framing of the 747 & Shuttle and the local landmarks so nicely.
Awesome!!! Wish i lived in America to have seen it with my own eyes 😃 i loved all the shuttles. Just mind blowing to think it went up in space and then came back down like a brick and landed safely 👏🏻👍🏻
Simply Awesome !!!!!!
Thank you .........
I know all the places flown over .
Even coming down the coast. Thanks again for the super footage.
Congratulations Sherryann63 on having your son flying the chase airplane. I know what it is to have a child make a fine accomplishment about which you can really truly be proud. Hope you have many more happy moments like this one. Respectfully,
Fantastic. Thanks for the ride.
Excellent job by the folks at Dryden. I hope they make all this footage available on DVD.
That is awesome Sherry.
So utterly amazing.
Love the view of Mugu and my childhood playground along PCH to Malibu.
JUST GREAT, COULD NOT HAVE ASKED FOR A BETTER VIDEO, ACTUALLY SAW MY CAR IN THE PARKING LOT OF HOLLYWOOD RACETRACK WHERE I WAS TAKING PHOTOS AS HE WAS ON FINAL TO 25R AT LAX.....GREAT JOB F18
one of the things on my bucket list was to watch a space shuttle launch...Daym!
Finally a year has past by since the space shuttle went over california
Absolutely extraordinary.
One of the best vids I have seen. Very nice.
Looks amazing
Thank you NASA!
Great video so scenic!
What a great sight, I wish I had been there to see it fly by.
It was fun to watch this in Hollywood if only because I worked on the original 747 team in Renton in 65-66.
What an awesome vid! Lovef every minute of it!!
Great video. Thanks for sharing with us.
Just gorgeous!!!
The space program is never a waste of money. The advances that have come from NASA are not countless, but incredible in number.
I worked personally on all space shuttles post Challenger.....Very proud and sad at the same time. An end of an era.....
This is AWESOME!
Just fantastic video. I could'nt see it from the South Pacific but this more than makes up for the experience. This truly has WOW factor.
It's like they are glued to the T38! What formation flying!
Real fine video.
Beautiful.....
Anyone else remember this being flown over their elementary school??
Yes!!! I was in 2nd grade and went to Mark Keppel
i miss these 2 aircrafts
I'm just so incredible blessed to see Endeavour at Ellington Field AND go aboard her with Jim Johnston. Once on board, I met the entire crew. Wow. Everyone was just so kind and welcoming not minding at all that I was in shock to be a part of NASA's history in the making. My bucket list went over the top that day. To include all of Rogue Social tweeps, thank you all. It was a great team being with them too.
I remember staying home that day from school just to see the shuttle fly right over my apartment it was about id 200-300 feet off the ground it was surely a sight to behold
9 years late but I remember being in the 3rd grade and seeing this thing land at LAX, we were having lunch at the time and all I remembered was everyone running to go see the space shuttle being carried,we all ran to get a “closer” look at it 😂 but just seeing that thing being carried was awesome
great video
Great Video
This flow over my town. Unfortunately, I was in school that day. At least the endeavor is only 30 miles away. So I guess that makes up for me missing the fly-over. I live in SoCal so it's awesome to have an orbiter here!
A job well done.
nice footage!
Very nice,loved it.
Excellent point. Thank you.
So awesome
Incredible TY
Amazing
Farewell Endeavor. I saw her pass right over my high school. Damn near spilled my Mocha....A beautiful sight, she was.
Endeavour flew about 100 feet above our house shortly after 9:50 minutes in the film after it flew over the Rose Bowl, made a left turn, and headed for the airport. The film is cut as it's making a left turn. We had goose bumps and a lump in the throat, glad to be an American and witness this. Someday we'll make it to the museum downtown.

i just seen the space shuttle today and its HUGEE!!
عندما أشاهد هذا الفيديو أشعر بالفخر و كأنني من يقود تلك الطائرة التي تحمل ذلك المكوك إنه لمشهد رائع
BEST tax dollars i've ever spent. Thank You!
At 12:00 you can hear the conversation with the ATC: "Cleared for low approach". It means they approach as normal, but going around intentionally missing contact. It's usually done as an instrument check or as a "rehearsal" for landing.
when they first introduced the shuttle they released a soft cover booklet explaning the subsequent use of the space shuttle, what the srb's were.ezternal tank, etc, etc, etc.
So cool, I remember seeing it from arroyo grande and then got to un maintenance on the penny press machine for a few years and would get free entry into the museum to see it. Best part was "testing" the machine and giving free pressed pennies to everyone
Great Video. Better from the Air than the ground.
I was in my fifth grade class right on the coast there when this happened, we heard a lot of cheering from outside and walked out with the rest of the school. right about 13:10. everyone went crazy as it flew right over us, so awesome.
I remember watching the flyover.
wow so awesome
Awesome!
I love at 1:58 how one of the pilots or someone says "man I wish this was live." because that would be super cool.
Kick ass video!
I had a look at your photos, they're great. I also love your astrophotography pictures they are really imrepessive.
how does this not have more views yet?!
They Should gave Unlocked the Shuttle from the Jet and did a back flip and dump the Shuttle in the Santa Monica Bay!!
The SCA is registered as N905NA and usually goes by the callsign NASA 905. Due to the interest in the mission it filed under a military callsign so it couldnt be tracked and dropped the zero, hence the "ASTRO 95 heavy" callsign.
That would be the ride of a lifetime! I have the Shuttle software for FSX and have flown a few 100 hours of sim time in the shuttle, would be the coolest thing to ride in real life.
I met one of the F-18 pilots at the LA Air Show back in 2014.
