Theory on making this dual action.
Make the "ledge" on where the rubberband on the blade sits, a bit smaller so you can put another "ledge" in the back of the blade. Then attach another rubberbrand.
Then pluck another hole, in the back of the blade where its fully extended thus
other rubber band is stretched but is caught in place cuz of the second hole on the blade.
PS i think the no string action to activate the blade is very cool

Its a great build, nice idea, but there are a couple of small issues. I have problems with the materials used, you could make it much more sturdy for little money. Forget that part, its just for show anyway. BUT to get the max out of that you need to be able to do a open hand palm strike. Eject the blade, tilt fingers up as much they can, make a eagle claw and strike the palms to the attackers head. If the rig is built in rawhide with a sturdy blade this would actually be very effective, the little size is amazing.

There's only one thing that's keeping this hidden blade design from being perfect: Retractability.
you can't complain something like that sir if you don't even know how to make one. :) It's just that things differ, and if you want better you must strive it yourself stop depending on others rather on internet for something that is beyond not your expectations...

If you want to make this look more realistic than cardboard if ur going to make this then maybe buy a wrist holder (dunno what it's called) it's for when people who have broken their arm get their arm out of a cast but it isn't fully healed yet or is still weak (my friend has one) it's kinda like a glove that only goes halfway on the thumb
It has straps or Velcro at the back which would be good for slotting the popsicle blade in
Or you could use a refil blade of a Stanley knife to make it real

Quick tip: if you are going to build this for a movie as I did, dont use cardbord for the vambrace, I used an old shin pad and painted it and changed the Velcro. straps to old lether belts with one buckle for each.
Trust me it works a treat.

Use a rubber and attach it in the back to make it retract by itself but make sure the power of the rubber infront when it goes out is powerful enough to fight back the back rubber and as long as the switch is pressed, The blade is out but when the switch is not pressed, The blade is retracted because of the rubber
