I predicted the last 20 minutes. I said we will abandon everything that has worked for us and make it chaotic. And the truth is, after Casemiro, Bruno Fernandes is the most guilty of this.
We didn’t stop playing football. There are two teams playing, one at home. You can’t expect domination for 90 minutes away from home in the PL or any other league in England.
Game and result aside, I think some of the criticism levelled at some of our players is ridiculously over the top. Garnacho was unlucky to hit the bar and if he’d have scored today, would’ve been talked up as the player of the match. I personally think he looks better from the start from the right wing instead of the left, but the way people write him off after a slightly ineffective game is ridiculous. He’s a kid, games like today happen. He should’ve come off after an hour. Same goes for Hojlund; they were his first minutes of the season off the back of an injury and I’m seeing people online tear into him. Give him a few games to actually get his feet under the desk again - he is also a kid! Whether Ten Hag is the man or not, the facts are that this is a young attack. They will be streaky. That’s what you get from young players and that’s clearly what INEOS wants, so this is the norm for the next few years. For me, the game against Palace should’ve been put to bed earlier, but Bruno was especially poor (again) and Ten Hag’s decision to swap Zirkzee for Rashford was baffling and killed us.
Same issues into our 3rd season under this manager. Zero goal difference and a mid-table position. Getting out-coached by younger, less experienced managers, with much smaller budgets and by managers who are newer to both the league and their clubs. Villa, Chelsea, Brighton and Forrest all have younger, less experienced managers and are all just in the door with their clubs. All managers have won more games, have a better goal difference and sit higher in the league than Utd. Slot just in the door with the scousers completely schooled Ten Hag, at Old Trafford, in only his 3rd game as Liverpool mamager!!! When is enough enough? I gurantee that after 19 league games we'll still be midtable and zero goal difference again.
Getting there. United look massively better than last season. But they’re not the finished article yet. If they can start scoring, and they should have scored in this game, then it will all fall into place. But they’re attacking better, defending better, doing their set pieces better. Second half wasn’t as good, but personnel changes showed the importance of Zirkzee. He’s a lynchpin of this side already. If anything, it might have to be him and Hojlund, with Fernandes in danger of being dropped. He’s well off it. But look, United are on an upward trajectory, it’s pretty obvious. Results will follow. Third clean sheet in a row by the way.
If Bruno is our "main man", he has to get his shit together. He's now back to either over-complicating or giving easy balls away. Rodri, McAllister, Ødegaard... These guys deliver! I think it's time to start looking who does the same for us.
Bruno is very different to other No.10's They also hold their position and retain possession. Bruno it seems every ball must be the killer ball and its turned over on countless occasions or today it was 34 times
Rashy should have started as then we have a 3 top three of combination players (garna got in zirkkzees way at one point) also him coming off the bench hungry works so well. Need to start Ugarte with mainoo so mainoo can help build the play and I like the mount idea, it's not what we wanted but hopefully it'll come and Erik will see the light
After two seasons and six games we should expect more than this. Great managers get results within weeks, especially with a good squad. And we have a very good squad. What's more, we had an impeccable summer window and we have a top-notch club organization doing all the right things. Ten Hag simply doesn't cut it.
Maybe not but it could easily have been 3-0 to United at half time. It was better than last visit to Palace. I didn't agree with starting X1 or substitutions but we must look at things at next international break not game by game
I can’t stand how non of the attackers will use their weak foot and do that dogshit outside of the boot thing. Garnacho and Bruno are the biggest culprits. Should be fucking ashamed if you can’t use both feet as a professional
First half we were excellent but not taking our chances came back to bite us. Zirkzee and Erikson have been key to our football style. Second half we lost the control and the subs reverted the game to prior years football where we play against a low block and cant break it down so we just play long ball and lose it. Worrying how when we take one player off alone we fall apart
This is on ten hag. Absolutely clueless. Same old story. Play 45min, get figured out, terrible subs like usual, still dont create clear cut chances. Palace had better clear cut chances then we did. No improvement since the first season. He needs to go
Rashford out of form for one year continues to be selected. Then starts to score & is rested! Rashford should have started. Garnacho & Amad done well from bench when coming on.
@brianogorman7752 100%. Ten hag then sets him up to fail, bringing him on as a st with our 3 best creative players coming off. An inform rashford is our best attacker. If rashford missed the chances garnacho did the amount of abuse he would receive. I feel like amad and rashford atm are our main starting wingers. Garnacho gets in good positions, him and bruno were stunting alot of good attacking play with turnovers and taking too long on the ball.
This is definitely going early and i think that a lot of people will disagree, but i really think the signing of Ugarte is INEOS big transfer mistake in terms of identity of the team. Both times he has played for us so far, he doesnt seem to show for the ball off the defenders and it is forcing Martinez and De Ligt to try something different. There was a moment in todays game where Lisandro literally had to point to where Ugarte should be to receive the pass. I cant imagine any of the big teams having someone who is ball shy in such an important position
Don't let the ten hag inners get to you James, they're zealots! Surely Christian goes to the 10 next game? Also I wonder if Zirkzee could play that role? His one touch is actually unplayable.
if ineos are looking at the playing style then that's the best we played so far, if Erik can sustain this throughout the season then we shouldn't have a problem. My issue is that there are teams already establishing a clear pattern of play that keeps being repeated in a game. I am not saying we not doing this but at times it does look like we panic or the pressure is too much. i AM ERIK in but i did question his decisions at times, ergate got bought to be dm put him in the line-up, we got Tottenham and villa next and we could potentially lose both, and then we behind. like I said I'm behind the manager but he's doing things that I start to question him a little bit, just hoping for a good season because looking at how the other teams are playing they seem up to speed. What do you think reds?
Whilst I am really annoyed with the result; James for 75 Minutes we were great. I don't agree with the game of two halves literally. I could potentially see a game of two halves of the second half ONLY. Utd should have won. Palace were awful. Your post match analysis was purely based on emotion that we should have won rather then take a step back. Utd were doing a LOT of the right things. The shooting - that will improve. I can't blame ETH on this one. The game model worked. No team ever plays 90 minutes of domination. The opposition at some point will have an attack. Bruno was poor but he will play himself back into form. He always does. I think ETH will eventually work out the right combination such as below I think Rashford and Amad work well with Zirkzee against low blocks with Bruno behind. Likewise with if you replace Rashford with Garnacho. Rashford, Hojlund and Garnacho work well against a high line with Bruno Behind. I think that front three would work best vs Spurs and Villa. The subs ETH should perhaps have played yesterday was; Mount for Eriksen. Hojlund for Amad Casemiro for Bruno Finished the game with a 4-2-2-2 Onana Mazraoui, De Light, Martinez, Dalot Mainoo, Casemiro Zirkzee, Mount Rashford, Hojlund That would have had pace on the break and line-breaking passes from Mainoo, Casemiro, Mount and Zirkzee. It won't have had the fast pace of Bruno as this was against a proper low block.
Was a very good first half, but second half it reverted back to same old United under Ten Hag. Hoofball, and poor in game management. Should have had 3 points today.
It feels like we're too dependent on Zirk in attack because after he got subbed out, our attacking dynamics became worse. Feels like our dependency on Martial all over again. We became direct like last season and our attacking edge became dull with each sub. We need to fix that. We dominated but we didn't use that domination in possession well. Eriksen was essential to this dominance, he's been brilliant in the past 2 games. Onana has been awesome again. It kinda feels we were lucky because of his saves but it's Definitely 2 points lost.
How is it saying we had no big chances second half. Bruno had a one on one he tried to hit outside of the foot?? Do people not watch the games and blindly believe this nonsense??

You can disagree with me all you want, it’s just opinions, but to me that shows a huge misunderstanding by ten hag of why we were doing well and what works.
Clear?
We just failed to beat a team that lost 80m worth of talent, with one that gained 200m worth. That's progress?

I predicted the last 20 minutes. I said we will abandon everything that has worked for us and make it chaotic.
And the truth is, after Casemiro, Bruno Fernandes is the most guilty of this.
Everything you’re saying here is absolutely spot on
Problem is and has been for three years, that Utd do not score enough goals. We have over 50 odd league goals for each of the last three years
United are creating the chances & played some good stuff. You need to convert the chances when you are on top. Simple
Not enough firepower. @@brianogorman7752
Bruno needs benching, end of
Bruno is never getting dropped in the prem unfortunately
De ligt was great
He was!
Agreed with most all of this.
Bruno has to be dropped
Good stuff not just getting carried away
Love to see people waking up this Bruno myth. Hes a shocking footballer and always has been
If Bruno is our "main man", he has to get his shit together.
Zirkzee and Maz look fantastic signings, Zirkzee movement and link up play is awesome, come on Ruud, work with him, and get him scoring
Can't believe we got Maz for that price
I can’t stand how non of the attackers will use their weak foot and do that dogshit outside of the boot thing. Garnacho and Bruno are the biggest culprits. Should be fucking ashamed if you can’t use both feet as a professional
First half we were excellent but not taking our chances came back to bite us. Zirkzee and Erikson have been key to our football style. Second half we lost the control and the subs reverted the game to prior years football where we play against a low block and cant break it down so we just play long ball and lose it. Worrying how when we take one player off alone we fall apart
Palace took of their sticker for a midfielder that is exactly where the game changed
This is on ten hag. Absolutely clueless. Same old story. Play 45min, get figured out, terrible subs like usual, still dont create clear cut chances. Palace had better clear cut chances then we did. No improvement since the first season. He needs to go
💯
He will be very important when playing high level opposition so the midfield doesn't get overrun.
united played well, its one of those days where former players(henderson) suddenly became prime buffon, shouldve scored 2 goals in the first half
I disagree United have not been clinical against decent teams this season
I really wanna see ugarte Mainoo eriksen/mount start the next game in the midfield
Don't let the ten hag inners get to you James, they're zealots!
Surely Christian goes to the 10 next game? Also I wonder if Zirkzee could play that role? His one touch is actually unplayable.
Zirkzee is completely different to Hojlund so in theory can play together. But only when chasing the game and needing a goal.
We played well in both halves but that rashford sub was horrific rashford should have came on for a winger in last five minutes
if ineos are looking at the playing style then that's the best we played so far, if Erik can sustain this throughout the season then we shouldn't have a problem.
I think ETH will eventually work out the right combination such as below
I think Rashford and Amad work well with Zirkzee against low blocks with Bruno behind. Likewise with if you replace Rashford with Garnacho.
Rashford, Hojlund and Garnacho work well against a high line with Bruno Behind. I think that front three would work best vs Spurs and Villa.
The subs ETH should perhaps have played yesterday was;
Mount for Eriksen.
Hojlund for Amad
Casemiro for Bruno
Finished the game with a 4-2-2-2
Onana
Mazraoui, De Light, Martinez, Dalot
Mainoo, Casemiro
Zirkzee, Mount
Rashford, Hojlund
That would have had pace on the break and line-breaking passes from Mainoo, Casemiro, Mount and Zirkzee. It won't have had the fast pace of Bruno as this was against a proper low block.
Was a very good first half, but second half it reverted back to same old United under Ten Hag. Hoofball, and poor in game management. Should have had 3 points today.
Agreed.
It's always glass half empty with you..
Ten Hag is not the man to take us forward, and players like Bruno and Rashford are holding Utd back. This is why we cannot kick on
It feels like we're too dependent on Zirk in attack because after he got subbed out, our attacking dynamics became worse.
I thought Onana should have parried the first shot wide of the goal in his double save. Parries back into the middle too often
@@Breezy_Runs I agree ,it can be worrying seeing him do that.

Frustrating result yes but at no point in that game was Palace better than United.
Had to turn this off half way through, the tactical analysis was so shrill and panicky.
Bruno need to fix up
We will never win anything major or ever be consistent with that number 8 of ours playing
How is it saying we had no big chances second half. Bruno had a one on one he tried to hit outside of the foot?? Do people not watch the games and blindly believe this nonsense??
Amad was hopeless
This was far too emotional response to the game. Sorry James, love your content. But feels like you missed on this one pal.

It’s clearly a structural and instructional issue rather than individual issue. Finishing is, failing to complete through balls is, but having not way to break down a team to create a chance is a ten Hag issue not a Bruno issue.
Quickly turning into the united stand.

Ineos stop wasting our time move eth on
You would never have played Eriksen James. Be honest. Ten Hag picked him and he’s been our best player this week and you’re acting like Ten Hag doesn’t have a clue. You’d play Ugarte who looks way off it
Pre match I also had concerns Eroksen starting 3 matches in one week. But he was the most influential in the first half & should have been 3-1 @ HT
Why did you ignore the momentum bar? It blatantly shows we were the better team for more than the 45 mins you claim.
Erik has lowered standards so much that having a half-decent 45 minutes against one of the worst teams in the league is now something to be celebrated. Those substitutions were an absolute disgrace and in the end we were lucky to come away with a point. But hey, it wasn't 4-0 again so it must be progress, right.
We played teams in the PL with 1 point and 2 points since Pool and made it very difficult and apparently I’m just an agenda merchant for being worried 😂
Spot on James. Bruno is too lacking in physicality to play in a top team. He's indulged & I have no faith in Ten Hag, who rates Anthony, in building a team that doesnt include him.
To say it was all poor is quite negative and appalling, the second half subs were bad but to just gloss over any positives we could see in the game is very much you with your agenda glassses on James, there's positives to take but no highlight the bad only because it is better for you (BTW the manager didn't get sacked likr you kept saying)😉
The manager hasn't been sacked yet!!! Only a matter of time. Ten Hag doesn't know how to utilize these players to get the best out of them.
@menamegaza7201 it was a joke to state he has been wrong on his insider information, and secondly if he gets sacked so be it for the reasons of having an unsustainable model coming back when he's trying to win but to flat out lower the good and exacerbate the bad is downright insulting to anyone that watches and analyses this game
