Gulf Coast, Mississippi, inland about 14 miles and am overrun with crazy ants. Professional exterminator refunded me saying they couldn't get rid of them. Would love to know what chemical or brand of ant bait would help. The get into my water well electric box and stop my pump. Any help would sure be appreciated!
Maxforce Quantum is the bait he was referring to. As for pesticide sprays that are designed to be slow acting enough to allow for a transfer effect, Alpine WSG is a great product. Advion WDG is also one that was used in testing for these ants. There are others, but these are a great starting point.
Apparently it's not just Southern states to be affected. The colonies seem to be winter tolerant if this happens to be the same species: th-cam.com/video/oCD5dIxB8uc/w-d-xo.html Have those living on an easement strip away from any buildings for over two years. The part of NE Illinois near Wisconsin. At least it's nice to know they can't sting. (Other native ants are also formic species.) But do they ever come pouring out any time I mow that part of the lawn. None of the other ants behave like that or at least to that level.
Woud love to see a war between this tawny crazy ants versus argentine ants. I wonder who would win...
