A lot of dps are gaining the capabilities to implant their weaknesses. However most of them doesn’t reduce the elemental damage resist. So fighting against naturally element weak enemies are still easier.

One thing that should probably be mentioned is that implanting a weakness by itself doesn't remove an enemy's resistance to damage types it isn't originally weak to. Firefly can break any enemy in the game, but she will still deal reduced damage to enemies that aren't weak to fire.
Totally agree, I long for Firefly to be playable in combat in his first form and then he becomes SAM. Because it's weird to me that he has a sword and has really good effects, buts literally just a decoration.
I don't hate their decision of splitting up Firefly(Overworld) and Sam(Combat) but I would have love to see Firefly swinging that sword around in combat lol

One thing that I think is wierd is that there are elemental bosses but some of those elemental bosses don't have resistance to their own element, and even those with elemental resistance the damage reduction is so small that it doesn't matter. The way to make us pull other dps for different elements is making the elemental resistance higher but not too high so that it's doable with the wrong element but really easy to kill enemy if hitting the weakness. Another idea that I got for an enemy that Star Rail doesn't have is the classic enemy that supports the other enemies by being their shield, and they could make it so we need to match weakness to completely nullify the shielder, or something like that
Hoyo got a lot of options to choose from. I just hope they slow down a bit with their character releases because I need a break to reaccumulate some jades :(
It does seem that units the rely on doing most or all there damage from breaking like boothill and Firefly get base kit weakness implants to help with playstyle because lets be honest if they didnt being forced to use silver wolf or have to take a difrent team and not use them would suck. And as several others have pointed out just because you can implant there type weakness doesnt reduce there normal resistance to that damage type.
I do agree that the weakness implant is more of a utility to help Firefly proc her playstyle(part of her kit revolves around weakness broken enemies) so anything extra from the weakness implant is a win in my book 👍

If the numbers don't change drastically, yes. She had her base damage nerfed, the defense shred removed and her multiplier halved. So critfly damage is down by something like 70% from the previous version. It's pretty much a meme build now. You can still clear MOC12 if you stack multiple supports, but it would be like taking breakfly in there without Harmony MC.
Something I noticed with Acheron and I suspect will be the same with Boothill and Firefly, is that even though they will be able to reduce enemies toughness through weakness implants, that doesnt mean that the enemy will always have the same reduced Resistance. Enemies that dont have shock weakness take way less damage from Acheron. Im pretty sure even though Firefly can add a fire weakness, her damage will still suffer because those enemies will still have a higher Fire Res. So the break damage might be the same in hers and Boothills case but all the other damage will suffer, and in Firefly's case that is not insignificant
In my opinion, Firefly's weakness implant facilitates her ability to weakness break any enemies since a good portion of her damage comes from breaking toughness bars. Anything more that results from the weakness implant is a plus in my book.
Firefly is very nice to me Especially since she does have her own superbreak in her kit, besides ive already built a semi premier team for her with all 200+ BE... so yes im pulling

insted of elemental coverage they are selling in playstyles like follow up and break etc and people will summon for example acheron is stronger then jade but people will get jade due to them not being in the same play style.

I saw a firefly vid with her fighting Sam. Yes, FF doesnt do much with his weakness being locked BUT after boss Sam eneterd Secondary Combustion and opens his weakness, Sam gets shredded fast
Firefly's talent giving basically 50% energy at the start of battle is a godsend. She can transform in her first turn just like that. Almost 0 downtime.
I already have plans on how i plan to building mine and probably going experiment with my own characters what works best for me when i get her (without hmc cuz im way to lazy to farm out his eidolons/build him tbh plus i use preservation path way more) i may have go for raum mei but that depends if summons are kind to me
You might slowly accumulate the Watchmaker set when you do your weekly Echo of War(Latest Stage). Who knows if you might get lucky and roll a god tier watchmaker piece!!!
Gonna be honest I'm quite glad that HMC is fireflies best in slot, I currently do not have much characters that benefit much from superbreak nor break effect buffs. (Main damage dealers are jingliu and dan heng imbibitor lunae) HMC is a great character, just don't really have anywhere to use em.
Aaah but i can’t chose this is way to hard to chose for new players. I have aventurine but that’s not enough sustain and fu is out, i lack dps. I hesitate between boothill firefly and jade. I already have topaz whos fire unit, but i suck at pure fiction. Boothill is bad for pure fiction. Jade is goat for pure fiction and FF is good at pure fiction. Who would you guys pick ? I know i need to like units, id say i love both boothill for cowboy design and story. And FF for the mecha design mostly. Send help.
I'm number 1 advocate for pulling on characters that you like design wise. Slight bias here but between the 3 DPS, I believe Firefly is the better option for newer players. The reason is because she can excel in both single target damage and multi target damage so you can use her for any end game content regardless of AoE or Single target stages.
Those three right now are her best teammates but if Firefly's final numbers allows her to quickly weakness break enemies without any external help, then we could get away with not running those 3 supports.

If you see yourself using Firefly for the foreseeable future than getting her E1 isn't a bad idea. Gallagher(With Eidolons) is shaping up to be one of the best sustain character for Firefly. If he somehow ends up being on Firefly's banner then you could consider going for Firefly copies. On the other side of the coin, Fu Xuan is better than Gallagher in all other scenarios/teams so she has a bigger payoff than extra copies of Firefly. This is a rough spot to be in. I personally suggest waiting for the Livestream which should be up while Fu Xuan's banner is still live. We'll know the feature 4 stars on Firefly's banner in the Livestream. If no Gallagher than I lean towards Fu Xuan since she brings way more to the table than E1 Firefly.
when it comes to no transformation, i wish that her basic attack in the overworld was a quick transform into sam. it'd make the switch a bit less jarring (but then again her skill does it anyways) overall its a nitpick, but i just wanna punch people in the face with a mech. also, her E2 is more reminiscent of seele than DHIL since her extra turn counts if she either kills or breaks an enemy. poor, poor seele.
there's just one problem with firefly: her lightcone options are kinda pants. you can give her aeon, sure, and it works well enough, but i'd rather let my aeon stay on my daniel and then if you don't have her signature and weren't lucky enough to pull enough copies of the misha lightcone your only option is to give her any cone that gives at least some ATK.which is better than nothing but still blows
Her kit is so different from your standard DPS that no current destruction LC fits her that well. Maybe they'll give us a bone and drop an event LC suitable for Firefly in 2.3
Wont The moles welcome you be very very good on her? 24% atk for any action every turn (tho I dont know if the mischief stacks on that LC have a limit), and she gets so many turns by get self with the v3 buffs too, benefits her capless Atk=BE trace so much. Well that's only if the lc does have a limit for the stacks tho, havent tested it yet.
@robilala2135 the moles cap at 3 stacks, with every stack being granted after you use an ability of a certain type to deal dmg for the FIRST time. Which means that: 1) you'd have to use her basic at least once, which you dont want to do 2)you will never be able to get the 3d stack, as her ult doesnt deal damage itself 48% atk is still better than most of the alternatives but you need s5 moles for that
tl;dr, most toughness locking enemies are either super easy to deal with or boss type mobs so you won't see them often. as the game ages, they'll introduce more scenarios where some dps will shine over others so people will pull on the new units. Right now all limited 5* can clear moc12, some with more investment than others. thing with the lock toughness mechanic is, the two elites we have that do that (Aurumaton Gatekeeper and the Soda Gorilla) only do it after it has taken a mix of 3 skill and ults to the face and after the 2nd turn they take respectively. if firefly manages to break them before that time, they can't activate their lock, which is really easy to do with how much spd and the toughness break increase RM skill gives. the only enemy as of now that Firefly greatly suffers from is the Sam boss itself (and yanqing). it locks toughness the moment he spawns and only opens it when in 2ndary Combustion state. Even then you can break him pretty easily when he is in 2ndary Combustion, but until then you're just biding time regening ults and sp in the meantime. Additionally, Sam has a 20% res to all elements he isn't innately weak to. Against him, I would advise not taking FF and using any other dps, like a follow-up team with ratio as main dps, as that works well against him. In any case, all dps have scenarios were they won't work nearly as well as their competition, or scenarios like that will appear as the game ages and mihoyo forces fans out of their comfort zone to pull on the new fancy dps to clear the content. If you're not easily swayed by FOMO tho, you'll be fine.
Agreed with you. It's probably in their best interest to favor a certain playstyle for specific fights. Not just for pushing new characters but to keep the game fresh. I still think that eventually they will drop a new end game content that requires 3 teams instead of the usual 2. This could, in theory, get veteran players to have more of an incentive to pull for newer characters.
She implants weakness, but doesnt lower the res, which means her damage would still be weaker with non fire weak enemies, it's still going to be brute forcing, but just allows her to function.

People not liking Firefly being reliant on Harmony MC is purely because it's a new archetype and there aren't other supports yet. Firefly being best buddies with the guaranteed free character, and being able to take advantage of defense shred still like Pela is nice. The F2P Friendly team potential for like, Firefly, Harmony MC, Gallagher, and Pela/Tingyun would be really nice. Hopefully in the near future we'll see a 4* Harmony Character that acts as "We have Ruan Mei at home", especially with leaks claiming that Ruan Mei's rerun will run at the same time as Firefly, and not every F2P player is going to be able to get both before the banners end.

people dont like firefly being reliant on harmony mc is because its just bad design. Having a limited 5 star that only works in 1 specific team and 1 specific unit is just so boring, doesent matter if that unit is free. Half of the fun of this game is experimenting weird teams and builds and its always cool if a character has something outside of their bis niche team or whatever. Also lets not forget that the main character will get new paths in the future, potentially being much stronger than the harmony one and basically forcing him into some other team so unless firefly gets another support that can enable superbreak she could lose a lot of value. But tbf they will probably release another 5 star superbreak support since it will make them a lot of money and they are trying their hardest to make firefly the best dps in the game.

Yes, we probably will get a limited 5* that does Super Break and hopefully a 4* that acts as a Bargain Bin Ruan Mei. it just needs to be fleshed out in the future. Not every Support can be Blanket good like Bronya and Sparkle, and not every DPS can be viable in half the archetypes like Boothill. Which is why I will continue to state that the problem that Firefly is reliant on Harmony MC is because it's a brand new archetype and there are no other supports yet, not that it's bad design.
About that entrance thing i have the same wish and i had an awesome fix. In HSR no character has an "entrance" animation, so the transform thing i think it will be imposible (and would make battles to slow to start )BUT, imagine using your technique and the start of the battle is just SAM using the Supernova Overload move to start it, that would be so fking cool.(And they can slightly change it to include a quick transformation or something)
May be a foregone conclusion since her beta kit is basically close to finalize but I really hope they surprise all of us with a new animation. I'm 100% on that hopium LOL
Crit fly has always been kind of cope. No conversion to CV, no CV traces, etcetera. Before V3, you COULD try Critfly or Hybrid but it was a lot of effort for a worse damage output since she has no built in Crit in her kit. After V3 though, Critfly stonks sank to the depths of Penacony’s Memoria singularity thing.
Before V3, I did not want to join either side regardless since it's not unheard of for Hoyo to have drastic changes during the Beta. After V3, it's as you said, BreakFly is the bona fide only way to build her and my FOMO on Ruan Mei a couple of months ago is the correct decision after all lol.

Personally, I'm skipping Firefly mainly because my account will absolutely suffer if I pull for another DPS. I'm also skipping because I've already pull for both Robin and Topaz. The latter I completely lucked out on the 50/50. For now, I'm skipping until that rumored Acheron's BiS Foxian character is released. I have roughly 20 pulls saved and hopefully will have enough to cover a 50/50 loss. Ideally, E0S1 is my goal but we'll just see what his kit is
i think, acheron does care about the weakness, is true that she deals toughness dmg regardless of the weakness but its a low dmg to the toughness bar, bothil and ff for me are in another category, their kit are design to deal break and super break dmg, so in order to they to function they need to get the enemy break first, so if they dont have a weakness to break they would became useless in force cenarios, i think myhoyo knows that, and to not make this characters extramally nich to a certain element type of break they decided to give them a way to implent so they can break any enemy, but keep in mind that bothil for example when he implant the weakness he do not take a way the elemental resistence like silver wolf does, so i can imagine that ff wont do it as well, thats a way to kind of balance this characters, so even when they implant a weakness they wont be able to do the dmg they would if they hit a character that already have that weakness, u feel me?

About gacha games treating players well, the Honaki series of games have always been pretty decent lmao. But yeah, they're probably going to balance it out with either the amount of weakness that can be broken. Since acheron doesn't shave as much off of non lightning weak enemies. And boothill has to be locked into one enemy to get maximum weakness break efficency.
My safe bet would be that they'll start adding enemies with multiple toughness bars like the latest Echo of War Boss. Between Firefly, HMC, Ruan Mei and Gallagher, one bar is going to disappear.
Let me address some of your points. Implanting weakness does not remove the inherent element resistance that the enemy has so in general it's still worse to brute force and I've heard they are increasing resistances in some cases. Still, it's possible that FF is stronger than some other dps even off-element. Gallagher is significantly better than Bronya or Sparkle for an E0 FF and provides healing. His toughness damage is too valuable. Bronya needs E1 FF to have enough SP. Toughness locking can be an issue but for the current enemies it's very easy to bypass. For example you can nuke Yanqing before he can even summon his swords and Sam disables it after one turn.
Brute force is more of a convivence than efficiency. I totally agree that Firefly may not be as efficient against non fire enemies but her kit gives her the possibility to take on non fire enemies. I don't expect Firefly to be able to out perform other DPS when she's off-element but if she can still clear it fast enough, that's a win in my book.
Although it is a gacha game, I dreamed of a game that promised a little difficulty thanks to its turn-based structure. But it gets easier every day. Its just wait your turn and start skill spamming. Increasing the health of the enemies in each patch does not add a challenging but fun experience to the game. They are just walls of flesh. Im enjoying this game rn but i cant guarantee what i think in the future.

It sure is. Relatively cheap team to build as well. HMC is free. Gallagher is kind of free since we've had a couple of 4 star selector events that had him as one of the choices.
silverwolf could probably replace gallagher, especially for single target only issue with sw with ff is that you would want to land sw fire implant before ff implant, but other than that the massive defense down can be a big boost (and the small speed decrease can also help maintain break status for a bit longer) obviously this is only assuming you kill fast enough to not need sustain, but who needs sustain when you break your enemies into purgatory
implant immunity already exists, you cant apply fire weak to someone already fire weak lol what they will have however is weakness hiding, theres already a good deal of bosses with this mechanic and it basically prevents any break character from doing anything

@@GoodestDuckI mean its not happening from the get go she was always Break focused she just wasn't balanced right in her V1 kit allowing CritFly so now that they completely moved away from CritFly I highly Doubt they'll scale back on the BE side of things. Especially since she has SB in her base kit because Crit stats do absolutely nothing to affect SB damage at all.
For me, the problem is that without buffs, she sucks ass compared to the other dps like boothill deals a lot even without supports, acheron deals a crap ton and even the older dps has a higher dmg than firefly so at some point since her multipliers are kinda useless in the first place, she can't scale higher. I am not that knowledgeable about the game, but from what I see, it is as if she is just enabling Harmony MC rather than being the main source of dmg. Well to be fair, I am glad Harmony MC is so good.
If I remember correctly, some mathematicians have already done the math on her V3 Beta numbers and she hits HARD. I'm also surprised that they made Harmony MC this good as a free character. When Hoyo wants to be generous, they don't hold back with their generosity.
acheron does need supports however and every character will gain a ton of value from supports also her damage is just straight up meta tier in her current state, no clue where you got your sources of ff's damage ff teams are comparable to boothill teams and acheron teams

the weakness implant is good but its not like silverwolf weakness implant.SW weakness implant include resistance reduction.FF and boothill is not.
In my opinion, Firefly's weakness implant facilitates her ability to weakness break any enemies since a good portion of her damage comes from breaking toughness bars. Anything more that results from the weakness implant is a plus in my book.
Firefly is very nice to me Especially since she does have her own superbreak in her kit, besides ive already built a semi premier team for her with all 200+ BE... so yes im pulling

insted of elemental coverage they are selling in playstyles like follow up and break etc and people will summon for example acheron is stronger then jade but people will get jade due to them not being in the same play style.

I saw a firefly vid with her fighting Sam. Yes, FF doesnt do much with his weakness being locked BUT after boss Sam eneterd Secondary Combustion and opens his weakness, Sam gets shredded fast
Firefly's talent giving basically 50% energy at the start of battle is a godsend. She can transform in her first turn just like that. Almost 0 downtime.

I already have plans on how i plan to building mine and probably going experiment with my own characters what works best for me when i get her (without hmc cuz im way to lazy to farm out his eidolons/build him tbh plus i use preservation path way more) i may have go for raum mei but that depends if summons are kind to me
You might slowly accumulate the Watchmaker set when you do your weekly Echo of War(Latest Stage). Who knows if you might get lucky and roll a god tier watchmaker piece!!!
Gonna be honest I'm quite glad that HMC is fireflies best in slot, I currently do not have much characters that benefit much from superbreak nor break effect buffs.
(Main damage dealers are jingliu and dan heng imbibitor lunae)

HMC is free too and nothing beats free. Except for Yanqing. They can give me an E6 yanqing for free and I won't ever use him 😅
Aaah but i can’t chose this is way to hard to chose for new players. I have aventurine but that’s not enough sustain and fu is out, i lack dps. I hesitate between boothill firefly and jade.
I already have topaz whos fire unit, but i suck at pure fiction. Boothill is bad for pure fiction. Jade is goat for pure fiction and FF is good at pure fiction.
Who would you guys pick ? I know i need to like units, id say i love both boothill for cowboy design and story. And FF for the mecha design mostly. Send help.

Slight bias here but between the 3 DPS, I believe Firefly is the better option for newer players. The reason is because she can excel in both single target damage and multi target damage so you can use her for any end game content regardless of AoE or Single target stages.
Can we have an oppinion of her without hmc/ruan mei/galagar as support i am not planning on wasting time on those 3 sups and they boring
Those three right now are her best teammates but if Firefly's final numbers allows her to quickly weakness break enemies without any external help, then we could get away with not running those 3 supports.

If you see yourself using Firefly for the foreseeable future than getting her E1 isn't a bad idea. Gallagher(With Eidolons) is shaping up to be one of the best sustain character for Firefly. If he somehow ends up being on Firefly's banner then you could consider going for Firefly copies.
On the other side of the coin, Fu Xuan is better than Gallagher in all other scenarios/teams so she has a bigger payoff than extra copies of Firefly.
This is a rough spot to be in. I personally suggest waiting for the Livestream which should be up while Fu Xuan's banner is still live. We'll know the feature 4 stars on Firefly's banner in the Livestream. If no Gallagher than I lean towards Fu Xuan since she brings way more to the table than E1 Firefly.

when it comes to no transformation, i wish that her basic attack in the overworld was a quick transform into sam. it'd make the switch a bit less jarring (but then again her skill does it anyways)
overall its a nitpick, but i just wanna punch people in the face with a mech. also, her E2 is more reminiscent of seele than DHIL since her extra turn counts if she either kills or breaks an enemy. poor, poor seele.

there's just one problem with firefly: her lightcone options are kinda pants. you can give her aeon, sure, and it works well enough, but i'd rather let my aeon stay on my daniel
and then if you don't have her signature and weren't lucky enough to pull enough copies of the misha lightcone your only option is to give her any cone that gives at least some ATK.which is better than nothing but still blows
Her kit is so different from your standard DPS that no current destruction LC fits her that well. Maybe they'll give us a bone and drop an event LC suitable for Firefly in 2.3
Wont The moles welcome you be very very good on her? 24% atk for any action every turn (tho I dont know if the mischief stacks on that LC have a limit), and she gets so many turns by get self with the v3 buffs too, benefits her capless Atk=BE trace so much.
Well that's only if the lc does have a limit for the stacks tho, havent tested it yet.
@robilala2135 the moles cap at 3 stacks, with every stack being granted after you use an ability of a certain type to deal dmg for the FIRST time. Which means that:
1) you'd have to use her basic at least once, which you dont want to do
2)you will never be able to get the 3d stack, as her ult doesnt deal damage itself
48% atk is still better than most of the alternatives but you need s5 moles for that

The implant issue can be easily solved by making enemies having high resistance against elements they’re not originally weak to.
This reminds me that Silverwolf's implant actually modifies enemy's resistances as well. If only Firefly had that effect as well :(
tl;dr, most toughness locking enemies are either super easy to deal with or boss type mobs so you won't see them often. as the game ages, they'll introduce more scenarios where some dps will shine over others so people will pull on the new units. Right now all limited 5* can clear moc12, some with more investment than others.
thing with the lock toughness mechanic is, the two elites we have that do that (Aurumaton Gatekeeper and the Soda Gorilla) only do it after it has taken a mix of 3 skill and ults to the face and after the 2nd turn they take respectively. if firefly manages to break them before that time, they can't activate their lock, which is really easy to do with how much spd and the toughness break increase RM skill gives.
the only enemy as of now that Firefly greatly suffers from is the Sam boss itself (and yanqing). it locks toughness the moment he spawns and only opens it when in 2ndary Combustion state. Even then you can break him pretty easily when he is in 2ndary Combustion, but until then you're just biding time regening ults and sp in the meantime. Additionally, Sam has a 20% res to all elements he isn't innately weak to. Against him, I would advise not taking FF and using any other dps, like a follow-up team with ratio as main dps, as that works well against him. In any case, all dps have scenarios were they won't work nearly as well as their competition, or scenarios like that will appear as the game ages and mihoyo forces fans out of their comfort zone to pull on the new fancy dps to clear the content. If you're not easily swayed by FOMO tho, you'll be fine.
Agreed with you. It's probably in their best interest to favor a certain playstyle for specific fights. Not just for pushing new characters but to keep the game fresh. I still think that eventually they will drop a new end game content that requires 3 teams instead of the usual 2. This could, in theory, get veteran players to have more of an incentive to pull for newer characters.

She implants weakness, but doesnt lower the res, which means her damage would still be weaker with non fire weak enemies, it's still going to be brute forcing, but just allows her to function.
super break doesn't include that in the damage calculation tho iirc

People not liking Firefly being reliant on Harmony MC is purely because it's a new archetype and there aren't other supports yet. Firefly being best buddies with the guaranteed free character, and being able to take advantage of defense shred still like Pela is nice. The F2P Friendly team potential for like, Firefly, Harmony MC, Gallagher, and Pela/Tingyun would be really nice. Hopefully in the near future we'll see a 4* Harmony Character that acts as "We have Ruan Mei at home", especially with leaks claiming that Ruan Mei's rerun will run at the same time as Firefly, and not every F2P player is going to be able to get both before the banners end.
It's evil of them to release Ruan Mei and Firefly together at the same time 😤

people dont like firefly being reliant on harmony mc is because its just bad design. Having a limited 5 star that only works in 1 specific team and 1 specific unit is just so boring, doesent matter if that unit is free.
Half of the fun of this game is experimenting weird teams and builds and its always cool if a character has something outside of their bis niche team or whatever.
Also lets not forget that the main character will get new paths in the future, potentially being much stronger than the harmony one and basically forcing him into some other team so unless firefly gets another support that can enable superbreak she could lose a lot of value. But tbf they will probably release another 5 star superbreak support since it will make them a lot of money and they are trying their hardest to make firefly the best dps in the game.

Yes, we probably will get a limited 5* that does Super Break and hopefully a 4* that acts as a Bargain Bin Ruan Mei. it just needs to be fleshed out in the future. Not every Support can be Blanket good like Bronya and Sparkle, and not every DPS can be viable in half the archetypes like Boothill.
Which is why I will continue to state that the problem that Firefly is reliant on Harmony MC is because it's a brand new archetype and there are no other supports yet, not that it's bad design.
About that entrance thing i have the same wish and i had an awesome fix.
In HSR no character has an "entrance" animation, so the transform thing i think it will be imposible (and would make battles to slow to start )BUT, imagine using your technique and the start of the battle is just SAM using the Supernova Overload move to start it, that would be so fking cool.(And they can slightly change it to include a quick transformation or something)
I don't mind Sam just kicking someone in the face at the start of the battle LOL

Crit fly has always been kind of cope. No conversion to CV, no CV traces, etcetera. Before V3, you COULD try Critfly or Hybrid but it was a lot of effort for a worse damage output since she has no built in Crit in her kit. After V3 though, Critfly stonks sank to the depths of Penacony’s Memoria singularity thing.
Before V3, I did not want to join either side regardless since it's not unheard of for Hoyo to have drastic changes during the Beta. After V3, it's as you said, BreakFly is the bona fide only way to build her and my FOMO on Ruan Mei a couple of months ago is the correct decision after all lol.

I started playing right after Ruan Mei, so I am hoping to pick her up since she is likely rerunning in 2.3 with Firefly. After that, it is either the rumored Foxian debuffer or my second Five Star Sustain.
Personally, I'm skipping Firefly mainly because my account will absolutely suffer if I pull for another DPS. I'm also skipping because I've already pull for both Robin and Topaz. The latter I completely lucked out on the 50/50.
For now, I'm skipping until that rumored Acheron's BiS Foxian character is released. I have roughly 20 pulls saved and hopefully will have enough to cover a 50/50 loss. Ideally, E0S1 is my goal but we'll just see what his kit is

i think, acheron does care about the weakness, is true that she deals toughness dmg regardless of the weakness but its a low dmg to the toughness bar, bothil and ff for me are in another category, their kit are design to deal break and super break dmg, so in order to they to function they need to get the enemy break first, so if they dont have a weakness to break they would became useless in force cenarios, i think myhoyo knows that, and to not make this characters extramally nich to a certain element type of break they decided to give them a way to implent so they can break any enemy, but keep in mind that bothil for example when he implant the weakness he do not take a way the elemental resistence like silver wolf does, so i can imagine that ff wont do it as well, thats a way to kind of balance this characters, so even when they implant a weakness they wont be able to do the dmg they would if they hit a character that already have that weakness, u feel me?

About gacha games treating players well, the Honaki series of games have always been pretty decent lmao.
But yeah, they're probably going to balance it out with either the amount of weakness that can be broken.
Since acheron doesn't shave as much off of non lightning weak enemies.
And boothill has to be locked into one enemy to get maximum weakness break efficency.
My safe bet would be that they'll start adding enemies with multiple toughness bars like the latest Echo of War Boss. Between Firefly, HMC, Ruan Mei and Gallagher, one bar is going to disappear.
Let me address some of your points. Implanting weakness does not remove the inherent element resistance that the enemy has so in general it's still worse to brute force and I've heard they are increasing resistances in some cases. Still, it's possible that FF is stronger than some other dps even off-element. Gallagher is significantly better than Bronya or Sparkle for an E0 FF and provides healing. His toughness damage is too valuable. Bronya needs E1 FF to have enough SP. Toughness locking can be an issue but for the current enemies it's very easy to bypass. For example you can nuke Yanqing before he can even summon his swords and Sam disables it after one turn.
Brute force is more of a convivence than efficiency. I totally agree that Firefly may not be as efficient against non fire enemies but her kit gives her the possibility to take on non fire enemies. I don't expect Firefly to be able to out perform other DPS when she's off-element but if she can still clear it fast enough, that's a win in my book.

Although it is a gacha game, I dreamed of a game that promised a little difficulty thanks to its turn-based structure. But it gets easier every day. Its just wait your turn and start skill spamming. Increasing the health of the enemies in each patch does not add a challenging but fun experience to the game. They are just walls of flesh. Im enjoying this game rn but i cant guarantee what i think in the future.
I'm confident Hoyo can get the difficulty figured out. They haven’t been shy with adding end game content.

Gallagher is kind of free since we've had a couple of 4 star selector events that had him as one of the choices.
silverwolf could probably replace gallagher, especially for single target
only issue with sw with ff is that you would want to land sw fire implant before ff implant, but other than that the massive defense down can be a big boost (and the small speed decrease can also help maintain break status for a bit longer)
obviously this is only assuming you kill fast enough to not need sustain, but who needs sustain when you break your enemies into purgatory

Jade is pretty hype as well but I think Firefly being Break Focus playstyle is like a shinier toy since we already have a bunch of FUA characters.
For me, the problem is that without buffs, she sucks ass compared to the other dps like boothill deals a lot even without supports, acheron deals a crap ton and even the older dps has a higher dmg than firefly so at some point since her multipliers are kinda useless in the first place, she can't scale higher. I am not that knowledgeable about the game, but from what I see, it is as if she is just enabling Harmony MC rather than being the main source of dmg.
Well to be fair, I am glad Harmony MC is so good.
If I remember correctly, some mathematicians have already done the math on her V3 Beta numbers and she hits HARD. I'm also surprised that they made Harmony MC this good as a free character. When Hoyo wants to be generous, they don't hold back with their generosity.
