Thank you for making this I have a red matrix basically just like the thumbnail it's my first car and I love it so much the only downside is there isn't alot of content out there so when I see something like this it makes me happy !
I have a red 2008 Toyota Matrix Xr. It's the most reliable car I ever had. It has almost 215,000 miles on it and I still trust it on long distance road trips.
Appreciate the video, love it when the Matrix gets attention. My dad had a 2003 or 2004 base model, and was the car I first learned to drive on. Unfortunately before he could hand the keys over to me and get a new car, the dealership drained the oil on purpose while doing completely unrelated maintenance (airbags were being replaced or something like that), and the next morning we woke up to the hear the engine dying from oil starvation. For further context, the dealership kept stuffing our mailbox full of letters to trade in the car for many months before they decided to take matters into their hands. Long story short, I miss that car so much, and I will never forgive that dealership. I just hope that soon I'll be able to find a Matrix to make my every day driver.
I have a 2011 , no repairs yet except brakes. The fold flat back seat was the selling point for me because if necessary I can sleep there. ( I'm 5'8). I love this car and hope I can find an equivalent when the time comes, which I hope won't be anytime soon.
Hey just want to thank you! I after my first accident in November, it was so hard to find a car in good condition with the money the insurance gave me (especially with how inflated the used car market was at that time!). I had my eye on the Toyota matrix, and this video really helped me pull the trigger when I finally found a good deal!
Enjoyed your video! The XRS (2003-2006) only had the automatic in 2003...'04-'06 came with the 6 speed manual only. You have to rev them high to get the advantage of the extra horsepower (and 91 octane is recommended). The official red line on the XRS is 8,200 rpm (some would argue 8,400). I bought an '06 xrs from a family member in 2017, who chose it over the other trim levels because they wanted the extra performance. I'm sure they'd still be driving it, but they just had enough "slamming gears". I'm ok with it, however...Cheers!
Thanks for the input! This being one of my earlier videos, I hadn’t yet mastered the art of researching older vehicles, it’s not the easiest to get in depth accurate information about cars that are almost 20 years old lol. I strive to be better and more accurate every video I make though!
I had a question for you. I have a 03 xr 5 speed manuel that I recently bought. But i dont know if its a awd or fwd. People told me its a awd and some fwd. I hope you can answer my question.
“Sales dipped after the 2009 model year” and “was cancelled after the 2013 model year due to steeply declining sales”. Yes, because Toyota ruined the Matrix starting with the 2009 model - just like General Motors ruined the Pontiac Vibe starting with the 2009 model. I think that was one of the greatest tragedies in automotive history. I also think cars would have developed differently and current cars would be better if the Matrix/Vibe hadn’t been degraded. They would be simpler, more reliable, get better fuel mileage, and be more practical for hauling cargo when needed.
Interesting, everything I can find says the matrix ended in the 2013 model year. Maybe it was a 2013 model sold at the dealer in 2014 so it was just marked in as a 2014?
Am looking for a small 4 cyclinder car 4 door hatchback with good mileage, trying to find a old 1989 Mercury Tracer or mazda 323 for cheap insurance....but I think I found a replacement...I like the styling and overal reliability.
@@jackalproductions2352 It was very fun sounded amazing I missed that car I crashed it but I did save the super charger someday I'm gonna put it back in a matrix
im thinking about getting the 2008 matrix it’s a used car for my first but really iffy about it n have mix feels.. what is everyone opinions on it? Should I go for it? There’s lil things I’m looking for in a car like a backup camera i hear you can install it urself but would I really be able to with that car? I don’t know much about them or cars in general that well so any positive feedback would be really appreciated..😅😊
For the price, I don’t think you can find a more practical and reliable car than the matrix, yes it may lack some tech that you would find in newer cars, but often you learn to live without it. I drive a 2002 and rarely feel the need for a backup camera and other fancy things. If anything it has made me a more competent and aware driver

I have a 2006 Matrix XR, auto. Love it. Here are two downsides. I live in LA so when the temperature gets above 95, the AC starts to lose the battle. I have an excellent mechanic, we keep the ac charged up. Done everything we can to get the max AC but I just accept that the 06 model, the ac they use is just not that strong. Guy I know has an 09 Matrix but his ac is cold when the temp goes above 100 here. The other issue I had, at 60K, one of my engine mounts broke. Couldn't believe it. I am the second owner. I am an old guy so I am a safe driver and rarely ever speed. Previous owner was a senior who used the car to go grocery shopping before she retired to a nursing home. I bought the car at 40k. It is still going strong at 120K now.
Usually cars get better miles per gallon when they drive on the highway rather than in the city where they are constantly stopping and going, that’s why there’s a different value for both types of driving
26 miles per gallon driving in the city and 32 miles per gallon driving on the highway. These are rough estimates. It’s almost never the case in the real world.
I love my 06' Matrix. I got 305k miles, and still a good reliable vehicle.

I owned a 2003 xrs matrix from 2011-2019 very reliable except dat it burns oil a little
