Maybe you change the numbers, so that you set the goals for the next 5 hours, 4 days, 3 Weeks, 2 months, 1 year... It's not the long distance of 5 years, but honestly I can not split up all the longterm stuff, so I would do a "1 year and longer" section
I like that idea! I agree about not splitting up the long term stuff...I think if I did something like this again, I would attempt just 3 categories: short-, mid-, and long-term goals...
Thanks for your review of this concept. I would agree with you, it doesn't seem to really be a workable process, at least the first three because the hourly goals can go on the Daily spread, the two day goals can go on the Weekly or Monthly spread, the 3 week goals can go in the Monthly Task list. So we are down to numbers 4 & 5 which I would probably use a separate page for each. Just my thoughts, but maybe this works well for some and that's what sharing ideas is all about, trying different things until you find what works for you as Ryder always says,
This was very helpful!!! 🤔In addition, i might also do a 12345 alongside. 1 year, 2 6-month halves, 3 months at a time, 4 weeks a month, 5 days a week. Both the forward and the reverse... (I love an experiment😊)
I wouldn't have much short term either. What seems weird about this is that the 2 and 1 change so frequently, so it doesn't make sense to put them next to longer term things.
I had a similar experience with this exercise. The bottom of my spread was pretty empty because, like you, I think in tasks in the short term rather than goals. I refer back to it sporadically but it’s not that useful day to day. I also felt a little unsure about the effectiveness of prioritising so few long term goals. For instance, I have “clear debts” and “lose weight” on my 5 year personal goals, as well as several others. There is no reason not to be working on both at the same time. If I waited to finish one before even thinking about the next, it would take me until retirement age to meet them all! 😂 Ryder specifically says not to revisit your 54321 goals until the initial priorities are complete or irrelevant. I can’t live like that long term. It makes sense for the short and medium term sections but not long term.
I agree. I’ve made my lists but actually didn’t prioritize them from there - I’m using a different way to organize my goals for 2019 because I ran into the same issue! It was definitely a good initial step for brainstorming, but I wasn’t able to go to an implementation stage directly from the exercise 😅
Personally my experience has been that shorter term (1,2) goals get in the way in terms of prioritization. That keeps me from ever getting to my longer term goals. Like I’ll consistently find small goals to do, and procrastinate on ever getting around to mid-longer term goals. It’s something I’ve been trying to fix.
I'm thinking about listing a few long-term goals and after that, the shorter term goals will be the steps leading to that specific long-term goal. That's how it would make more sense to me.

Franziska Bauer I love this idea!! Your idea honestly makes more sense to me in terms of planning and actually achieving goals!

Yeah, at this point, I’m just letting those two categories slide 😅
Same, I see the 1 and 2 like those "what I can do in 2 minutes" spread where it's "wash the dishes" kind of things

Thank you.
Thanks for sharing. Beautiful edition of the book. I'm bookmarking the section to reread, when I can. Edit: yes, it's on the same page.
Thank you for confirming the page!

That does make sense!
really interesting!
It’s not realistic but for short term breaks down a midrange or long term goal in order to work on that goal as often as you can
