Hipster has an interesting side effect of telling you which 3 cards are not in opponent's deck. It could reveal a key card for certain decks, therefore telling you this is not the deck you are facing. In arena it might suggest something like a removal card, which you now know is not in the deck (it could still be generated at some point though).
Unless it only looks at cards currently in the deck, and not cards in hand? Then the information is not quite as complete.
Glad to see that "three different rune DK is boring and not what is being designed for" lasted... checks notes... one expansion
My fear ever since the beginning was that runes were gonna ironically limit deckbuilding. Since each card can only go with a limited number of other cards the decks are gonna have very little variation and practically build themselves once you choose the runes
The flair text on etc is pretty awesome: "This next band features the one and only M.C. Tech on the drums, the fungal king of the keyboard Loatheb, and the showstopping vocal chops of Spellbreaker!"
Another F2P to legend run with this expansion would be ..... music to my ears!
I love how blizzard broke their own design rule with rainbow knight not being an archetype in almost the very next expansion LMAO

Also it not being discoverable is... Questionable. We're going to need some insane 1rune 1+1 rune or 1+1+1 rune requirement cards to justify it as it is.

I thought a card with this requirement would eventually get printed, but waaay later than the second dk expansions, to make "bad 1 rune cards" useful
Someone at Blizz nailed the Death Metal aesthetic for DK. Set theme is actually really sick, hope the cards/meta are up to the style!

I hate that song but I love this joke.
An important note about Hipster. It says "isn't in their deck" not "didn't start in their deck". So if your opponent drew their good spells you can still get them. Making Hipster better as late game value.

ETC is basically Hearthstones answer to MTG's sideboard, which is something I think has been sorely missing for the last 9 years
I like that concept!
Just4fun let's think about some subgenres for the deck archetypes.
mech mage - industrial/hard techno
freeze mage - ambient/chillout
elemental mage - progressive/melodic house
deathrattle rogue - down south rap
evolve shaman - electro swing
murloc shaman - avantgarde jazz
...
Thief rogue is sample-based hip hop.
Freeze mage is chillwave.
Pirate warrior is punk rock.
Silence priest is instrumental pop.
Horsemen warlock is classical quartet.

Mech mage is definitely future riddim dubstep
Pirate rogue is underground hip hop
Aggro Druid with the pirate package is grindcore cause it gives you 2 minute games

The other thing you can do with ETC is put 3 odd cost cards into a Genn Greymane deck in wild.
Or extra copies of cards you like for Reno decks
Or Holy cards in Shadow Priest
or 3 flex cards for your spell DH
or a Theotar for when your win condition gets theotarred.

Ghost Writer is like the perfect arena card for turn 5 damn
But if it is after turn 5, you'll need the perfect mana curve to pull off the effect. If you cant spend all your mana with just 5mana remaining, this effect doesn't work. If you have 6 mana left with no 1mana card, you wouldn't get the effect.
@@colintimothy7016 Still probably pretty good, you can always play it on turn 7 and from turn 8 onwards you’ll likely have the cards to fill the gap. Turn 6 is probably the only awkward turn (except dh)
Remember when Azure Drake got Hall of Famed? Double battlecry Azure Drake with the ability to choose the two cards via Discover. How the power of cards ticks upward over time.
@@07jonesj that’s not really accurate at all. ‘Drake gave you draw of cards you specifically put in your deck, as well as an immediate threat with spell damage.
Ghost Writer is giving you completely random cards, which you can’t play until next turn at the earliest. So completely different 😂

Ive been using etc to select a specific win condition based on gamestate and matchup. Makes my control decks more flexible
Saaame. Is a handy way of expanding the deck without worrying about being stuck with a top heavy or niche hand

Something about the power chord card that I haven't seen anyone talk about is the option to strategically play it without the "finale" to add an enemy minion to your hand. Just a thought

Hipster is actually a really interesting card. If you are facing aggro, it’s seems pretty reliable for hipster to get you a good removal card in most games
Ghost Writer is already giving me angina from the future situations in Arena where Trump is gonna go into a "lul order" feedback loop where he's not sure if he should get the value of discovering two cards, or potentially play the discovered spell for better efficiency that turn, and will of course rope, causing him to not spend 2 mana on a play he thought about at the beginning of the turn if his carpal tunnel and geriatric brain rot were not impeding him in his advanced age.

ETC could also be a great tutor to get a card if you use things like witchwood piper or other selective minion cards. Additionally being able to bounce it with rogue will be insane to keep generating your win condition spell
Played him yesterday with Brann & found out it removes the card you discovered, so the second time around I only had two choices to choose from

So if you discovered this in Shaman, got it to full HP, and had it as the only minion on your board, anyone have any guesses as to what healing Rain would do, since(as far as I've ever been able to tell), it just has the extra heals hit face if nothing else needs it
Pretty sure it’s more plausible for the priest, a class notorious for using other class’ spells, to discover healing rain, but to add to your question, I kinda thought healing rain immediately stopped when nothing needed health.
Edit: Forgot you can probably just evolve into Hedanis, which would be insane if you had healing since he would start at full hp without battlecry
@@InsightReasoning You can also discover Battlecry Minions with Shaman, and while I doubt the deck would be able to pull it off, Freeze Shaman in Wild is capable of stealing cards.
Then there's also Slyvanas to steal things, and it could've been changed since I last ran a deck with it, but I always had to sit through the whole 12 ticks with the extras landing on face whenever I used it on a board missing less then 12 HP
Power chord synchronise plus Pelagos is pretty great.
Etc band manager is insane in even cost control decks in wild. Putting 3 options in it the deck cant run normally is very good.

One thing noted by people commenting on Hipster and one Amalgam band is that Blizzard seems to be brazenly hinting at Monk coming sooner than we'd think because why would the one amalgam band have a pandaren face if pandaren isn't a tribe yet?

Heartbreaker + Wild Pyromancer + A bunch of healing spells seems like a combo. Whether it would be just a meme or more Idk, would depend a lot on what cheap healing spells there are.

It might not be necessary. Rules as written I don’t see a requirement that he needs to be healed from a damaged state, he just needs to be healed past full, so you can just put healing on him.
I literally had to tweet this exact question to the lead dev of the expansion. He confirmed fhat Overheal DOES work on full HP targets.

Climatic Necrotic Explosion feels like the new Ultimate Infestation. Thank god they seem to have learned from that.
Ultimate infestation isn’t even run in any druid decks in wild anymore. Ten mana cards should be broken.

I can see this mostly in Midrange and Control. That being said there is room for 4 mana 4/4 discover as shown by school teacher. Also, it bypasses start of game rules, which kinda sounds important for Shadow priest.

Ghost writer reminds me of Azure Drake back in the day. Everyone played it for a decent body and card draw. This is decent stats with not one but two possible answers. Sure, your deck has cards you know you want, but this fends off fatigue.... except for mill.
Discovering 2 spells is gonna be so much value for nearly any class save for aggressive decks
Honestly the Trump Reviews are the only thing that I actually am excited about Hearthstone Standard since I mostly only play Battlegrounds anymore.

The robot looks the same and is in the same position, but the reference to Goblin blastmage makes more sense text wise.

Void virtuoso with blood bloom will be insane. Compared to the other card that makes your hero immune its 2 less mana. So you can mana cheat a 10 cost spell on turn 5. Thank god Warlock can at most destroy half your deck
One amalgam band is the absolutely the most interesting card. Seeing a pandarian face on that card implies only one thing. The pandarian minion type joining hearthstone in the next year rotation, year of the turtle with return to pandaria!

Amalgams are counted for these types of effects. They always pick to "be" a minion type which is not represented by other minions, meaning each Amalgam you've played will contribute one tick to the Band. Same is true with dual-type minions.
5:15 almost wrong for sure, vampiric blood has never intercated as a lifesteal card with similar effects.

I think it triggers every time you overheal.
I imagine based on the RAW, if you simply heal them while they have full hp, effect would trigger.
