Yep. I tend to use more traits mod, and end up finding that fearful with agoraphobic and all the other panic mods, mixed with a 9 in fitness and in strength, apparently turns project zomboid into doom. "No need to fear the virus or base up if there is no virus left"

Cruising around in a car with everything you need in the trunk is really quite fun. Take what you need from a town and move on. Sometimes try and make a base but the road calls to you once again.

Honestly tho for me personally ; Zombies ; combat and Stealth are a big part of the game and just going to middle of nowhere to make a safe base isn't that fun ; i prefer settling down in more strategic places like in towns outskirts ; near gas stations ; warehouses etc for easy access to survival supplies and traveling around and just clearing out a whole area from Zombies and calling it home is so satisfying ; but of course this is a rpg game and everyone should play it the way they enjoy

My very first base is in a barren house. There were kitchens and baths, but no furniture. I was forced to sleep on the ground for the first few days until I could sucessfully steal a chair from a neighboring house. Almost the entire first floor is boarded up as well. I’m proud to call that place home in the center of Muldraugh.

I made a few fallout shacks all over the place filled them each with a few weeks of canned food and gas then made a farming base way out. Thing I learnt painfully is building a base in a city is going to end in disaster sooner or later the moment one zombie starts pounding on your walls a horde will be attracted.

Oh that problem is multiplied tenfold if you enable enviornmental damage setting (zombies punch doors and windows even when not chasing you)
Speaking from experience, a lot of houses didn't have doors.

The only reason to make a mega base its for respawn sake... I usually make a base on a tiny island on the river and get every canned food i need and a furnace... just to grind levels... then... it is all about loot and set fire pits... just to make safe places... Obviously this is just an end goal with NO RESPAWN activated AND a mod that tells me how many zeds are left...

Basically, it counts the value of every "chunk" in the game and give you a total... In a normal game there is around 80 000 to 100 000 zombies

for anyone whos getting started, spawn at rosewood bc there are less zombies than any other city, the police station has cigs and other resources and the fire station right below the police station has good clothing to prevent bites, durable, weapons, meds, materials, everything
also if you can, barricade the side of the fire station, then you have a zombie proof garden/farm, you can also block off with wood the front door and windows so you can go out form the fence

I did once find a shovel and set up not only farms, but also graves to dump the nearby zeds and turns out one grave can fit 5 zombies. I made like 10 of those for like 13 zombies
