Guys this video is really great. I really appreciate putting the technique into the context of an actual game (like talking about moving towards the shuttle and when the opponent might play a flatter lift etc). So many channels only go over the fundamentals of how to hit it in a drill but it's another thing to apply it to a game in imperfect conditions!

Brilliant video, especially helpful on the jump-out smash, I’ve been rotating my whole body and leaving myself out of position a lot.
My feedback is that the smashing playlist seems to run backwards - it’s running in a reverse order. The video is great, good advice and recommendations for practice.

That’s great to hear, pleased it has helped you with your game.
We don’t think we can affect the order for the playlist, it will keep the newest episode at the top and the oldest at the bottom. Watch from the bottom to top to stay in order for the series.

@@TheBadmintonZoneHQ On youtube studio, in the 'content' tab there will be a playlists tab. Press that, hit the pen icon and you can set the watch order for it. There's a whole bunch of options in there. Sorry for the minor nitpick, its really a great video though, thanks for making it.

@@TheBadmintonZoneHQ Tips to help students who tend to hold the racket too square all the time? I keep repeating instructions re: grips but it must have been a bad habit they picked up in previous years and it takes away all their power.

Put a clean grip on for the video, Dean. Appearance is everything! Look at David's nice shiny fresh orange grip!

Hi, I have played for 5 months and were able to smash with a boom sound and thought I have a decent smash.
But when watch your video, I realize I only did half the job. From the steps where you prepare until the steps where you contact the shuttle, I did exactly like you. However, I am unable to drag my right arm accross my body after smashing
When I smash, my racket usually go so fast, so the momentum make it go downward (with the racket facing outward due to the pronation of my arm). If I want to drag my right arm accross my body, I have to apply less swinging force on the racket so that I can drag it to the left affter contacting with the shuttle which make it feel weaker)
So is it good to just stick to my smashing style or try to drag my arm? Since I see most of my senior drag your arm like you but some doesn't do that.
    Thank you in advanced!

It’s ideally best to have the racket coming across the body, it may help with power but will also help with injury prevention on the shoulder, if it’s just a stick smash then it’s no problem but if you want to use full arm swing when possible we would recommend coming across the body with the follow through.
Thanks for taking the time to write a detailed comment, hope that helps 👍

One area I need to work on is my smash accuracy, Sometimes the shot quality is excellent, but other times it falls short. This video is fantastic!😀
