    ABOUT THIS GAME
    In the space-colony simulation game Oxygen Not Included you'll find that scarcities of oxygen, warmth and sustenance are constant threats to your colony's survival. Guide colonists through the perils of subterranean asteroid living and watch as their population grows until they're not simply surviving, but thriving...
    Just make sure you don't forget to breathe.
    Build Extensive Bases and Discover What it Takes to Survive:
    Everything in your space colony is under your control, from excavation and resource allocation right down to plumbing and power systems. Resources will begin depleting with your first breath, however, so be sure to dig fast if you want to live.
    It's Mind Over Matter with Stress Simulations:
    Keep the psychological impact of survival at bay with fun leisure activities, great accommodations and even better food for your colony. Duplicants each have different and potentially destructive ways of reacting to stress, so be sure to always keep them happy. Whatever the cost.
    Avoid Boiling with Thermodynamics:
    Temperature control is a constant concern in space; too cold and you'll freeze, too hot and you'll fry. Keep tabs on ambient environmental temperatures and your colony's heat production to maintain a nice, cozy atmosphere for your colonists.
    Enhance Efficiency through Complex Gas and Liquid Simulations:
    Create interlocking pipe systems to swiftly deliver fuel and liquid to critical areas of your base. Plan well and be rewarded as your colony transforms into an imperishable, well-oiled machine.
    Take Charge with Power Grid Simulations:
    Choose from a multitude of power sources including coal, hydrogen, natural gas or just plain old elbow grease. Manage power runoff, circuit overloads and meltdowns to keep your colony running smoothly.
    Always Keep Yourself Breathing:
    Enter the Oxygen Overlay and watch air moving through your base in real time. Monitor carbon dioxide accumulation and oversee oxygen generation processes to mold your colony into a veritable deep-space oasis.
    Waste Nothing through Extreme Recycling:
    Make use of every last resource for a base that truly exemplifies efficiency. Recycle waste into precious fuel, process unbreathable gas into air or harness the natural processes of wild creatures for food. If you're clever, you might even be able to run a base off colonist farts.

    can dream jurnals be delivered by auto sweepers and rails? if so, this to really looks like a constant task important enough to run a long transport line there

      They can now. They couldn't in earlier patches though. In my base, the autosweeper is on the right side of the somnium synthesizer.

      No, you're looking at this from the wrong perspective. No heat or chill is ever truly lost. All I'm doing is transferring the chill over to the water, that I can then use to keep the metal tiles cool.

    Metal Volcano: I always use a constantly reseting converyor meter set to 2-4 (depending on average active output of the volcano). Having smaller packages and longer flow makes it easier to dissipate the heat (also useful if metal volcano is in steam room)

    Meep doesn't store as much because you have so many deodorizers he has his hands full just by doing those life support errands, I guess.

    i think it's because there's an arrow up before storing, since it's the last on the list it ends up last in the order of priority. i don't know if the game joins all jobs with the same priority before choosing or if it looks from left to right as rimworld (at least when I used to play it it was like this)

      This is still the logic used, left to right, highest priority for the dupe matching available jobs

    0:49 you're going to dump your molten glass on top of a tile under your sand storage bin, and it's going to flow in front of at least your glass forge. Good job you caught it when you went to start up the glass forge at 1:36
    13:40 If you set the smart battery to low threshold 0%, the jumbo batteries will be at 50% Every 5% on the smart battery is 1KJ stored. So with a setting of 30% low, you're turning the hydrogen generators on about when your smart battery has 6KJ, and your smart battery reaches 95% as you're running the hydrogen generators to produce 70% (14KJ) of the capacity of the smart battery which in turn is only 35% of the jumbo battery's capacity. If you started at 0 power, and no other power source, the smart battery would never top off the jumbo batteries, if you started with the jumbo batteries full the hydrogen generators will be called upon before the jumbo batteries get down to 50%
    Priorities: A commonly misunderstood mechanic. All tasks have a basic priority, in that the AI looks at the chart from left to right for each dupe. [Part of this may be of use to you, but I'm largely explaining for your viewers benefit, so it is less misunderstood]
    Using just the often misunderstood "take item from here to there" tasks
    Life Support (delivering to oxygen producing and water purifying devices - deodorizers, algae terrariums, water sieves, etc)
    Supplying (Delivering to machines not classified as life support but priority - metal refinery, electric grill, build orders, etc )
    Storing (moving supplies into storage locations - storage containers, refrigerators, etc)
    Ignoring all the other job types, assuming all jobs are set to the same priority, and not using proximity A dupe who has all their priorities set even when presented with a construction command needing, say 200kg of ceramic (supply construction material), an algae terrarium needing algae delivered (life support) and a storage container that has room for algae (storing) with 1000kg of algae and 1000kg of ceramic. Again all priorities are set equal for the dupe and the tasks. The dupe should deliver algae to the terrarium, then deliver the ceramic to the construction command, once those tasks are done then start moving the algae and ceramic excess to the storage container.
    The AI looks left to right across the list for the highest duplicant priority task that comes first. Since life support appears first left to right of these, the AI will pick that life support task before the supplying or storing commands. If however you adjust the duplicant's priorities to be up one tick on supplying, though life support comes first it's not the first command found with an increased priority, Basically it looks for the first occurrence of a "maximum priority", if it does not find one, it looks for the first occurrence of "increased priority" again if it doesn't find one, it looks for the first occurrence of "normal priority" and so on. When it finds a task with the highest priority available, with a job of that type available, it will then look at the priority of those jobs that meet the identified parameters (if there are 2 terrariums requesting algae, but one is set to priority 5 the other to priority 2, it will select the priority 5 first. But the construction job needing materials in the above example, even if set to priority 9 will be selected only after both terrariums are no longer requesting the algae.
    Since you have so many deodorizers, which are a life support task, and life support is max priority for Meep, he will keep running to deodorizers in need long before he will get to his tidying or storing.
    When you added Mae to top priority in Storing, their only other top priority was Rocketry. There's no rocketry task to be done at this moment.
    20:00 personally I find the counterflow approach more effective, run the coolant in the opposite direction of the heated material flow, as long as your temperature ranges are managed, it tends to make for a more stable output temperature of both materials. (hot ore on conveyer going Left to Right? the cooling radiant pipe should go right to left through the same tiles. hot ore on conveyers going bottom to top? the cooling radiant pipes should go top to bottom, etc.) Your coldest coolant then hits the coolest of the hot stuff, then the slightly warmer coolant hits the next, and so on. Because you're still cooling with the last crossover tile, but you're forcing the output temperature of what's being cooled to hit progressively cooler coolant. While with it running the same direction, one packet of coolant is running alongside the conveyer it's trying to cool, so the same pipe full of liquid stays alongside the same conveyer full of hot metal.
    It would probably be a good idea to add your filtration mediums to your supply list on the side. If you run out of, or low on them, you're going to have problems when you're asking dupes to supply or life support using filtration medium.

    Don't try tame the aluminium volcano without steam turbines kkkkkkk the cobalt works because of vaccum and the tiles heat faster event with low temperatures, gold is the only one what is easy (low temperature and event more low heat capacity), unless you want sacrifice a lot of cool water/polluted water, then will works fine at least for 1 complete cycle of active/desactive. Some plays I do that, open the metal volcanos with some expressive water, even gold.

    I wonder if a liquid airlock would work in real life too. It obviously can't evaporate in a vacuum, so no water, but maybe some oil. Also, there would need to be a simulated gravity, maybe from centrifugal "force". This is due to the pressure difference of 1 bar and 0 bars (in space) pushing the liquid into space, but a simulated gravity would hold it in place. Lastly, it would need to not diffuse any molecules from the atmosphere in the ship, which I don't know if any oils do

      The problem is security and efficiency concern. Having you life depends on a layer of liquid is quite a risk, plus energy needed to generate a centrifugal force is a waste considering you only need it solely for an airlock. Pumping air in and out for a normal, thick layer of metal doors airlock will most likely use far less energy and much safer.
      Well, once a commercial spacetrip is a widespread thing, maybe that'll really happen. A fancy liquid lock and simulated gravity are probably luxury things consumers gonna like.

      @@DixxyV I agree it would definitely be a risk, so we would need multiple and differing sensors to test for a breach with an actual airlock. I don't think it would be less efficient than a normal airlock though. Once the ship is up to speed (which would be the inefficient part), it wouldn't need to spend any more energy on keeping the liquid airlock functional, since a force can be exerted without using energy (like a rock sitting on a floor). Also, the reason I think this would be viable is the same as in Oni, where no atmosphere is released when the airlock opens, since q perfect vacuum can't be achieved irl, but a perfect liquid seal might be possible. Also, assuming it won't be really slow going through that liquid, it would be much faster than standing in a room that needs to turn into a vacuum.

    Helpful tip: you could use the energy station to tune up the hydrogen generators. The new update also is buggy with tasks
