      Have you tried Absorbine Plus for those bugs. When I lived in the Midwest we used that during the buggy season. It has an order about it that really keeps the bugs out of your face. I used an old hat and rolled it on the brim and it kept the bugs out of my face and eyes. Just a FYI.

      Well, maybe a trifle dorky...but how dorky would you look all spotty with skeeter bites? 😉
      A great day indeed, can't wait to see some slices. The first red jasper reminds me somewhat of the poppy jasper we find here on the Olympic Peninsula.

    That first one was one you could just sit and gaze at forever. Those green jaspers are gifts because they tend to get chewed up by the big currents. Wow,.. I just want to comment on every one you find! That yellow spotted one was fantastic and the dark one was so solid and gorgeous! And you have got to love the gnarly ones with so much character. And then that light one with all of the banding was so bright and uplifting like a beautiful sunrise bringing in the light of a new day. The hidden agate with the blue banded heart was true eye candy. I love those petrified wood knots are agatized or jasperized...nothing better! You are just finding sooo many keepers. Oh so nice! Keep getting out there, MRM. The days are growing shorter and the rocks are calling....seek on...and enjoy those offerings of The Mighty River. I sure did this time. Thanks for sharing. Smiles to ya! It also looks like you, I, and Agate Dad all pulled a similar rock in the same week. We were comparing one from his latest vid to one I found the same day, and then here you come with that one at 2:25 on this video. Kinda cool!

    • @MontanaRockMom
      @MontanaRockMom  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, sometimes I tumble the big ones. However, it's usually to get the rough outer layer off to clean it up a bit. I find I need to get the deeper pits or cracks fixed up by hand or else I don't like the finished product. Sometimes I will even clean up some spots with my Dremel.

    gas prices have come down far enough for me to think about putting together a four person trip up to your river. I have a rancher friend up that way with 2 miles of river access. you have told me previously that you would be interested in participating in an excursion. It would be west of Miles City, approximately 20 miles or so. If you wanted to invite Theo or someone else that would be fine. I would be bringing at least three kayakers with me. (but not more than four) I would count on river conditions from your side, as well as any other advice. (bugs for instance). I believe this part of the river is pretty much pristine. Especially after the flood. This would happen in three to four weeks if it happens at all. I would give this event as a 65% chance of happening. you would increase this to 80% of probability. heh let me know but no worries either way.

      @MontanaRockMom  2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Not sure where the one-lane bridge is. I do, however, know of a one-lane, iron girder bridge in eastern Montana that rockhounds would want to know about. At the east end of the bridge there is a petrified tree stump. I would estimate it's weight to be between 1000-2000. I'm pretty sure of this because 40 years ago my brother and I went to retrieve it and failed. I have never seen a chunk of petrified wood this large anywhere else except at Petrified Forest National Park in Arizona and Florissant Fossil Beds National Park in Colorado. Anyone want to know the location? Just ask. How you're going to get to it and retrieve is your problem 🤔

    Great video! We love the same kind of rocks although I seem to find more petrified wood than agates. Please keep these videos coming.

    Looks like you find big agates in your state. I live in Michigan and have yet to find a real agate. Yours are beautiful.

    All of your thumbnails make me wonder how we live in the same country. And your camera is great!

    I would pay to have a slab of the dark blue montaina agates. It would be perfect for jewelry.

    Thank you so much for sharing and all your hard work to bring all this beauty to us. I don’t get to do much rock hounding myself so it’s really great to see your finds. I would love to be there collecting agates with you you find the most beautiful rocks I have ever seen. Thanks again, love and light and ROCKS!!!
