- It was so cool to visit the Central Airforce Museum in Monino, Russia on the outskirts of Moscow. Seeing the Soviet airplane graveyard with all the experimental Soviet aircrafts of the past. From the world's largest helicopter to the first commercial supersonic airplane the TU-144 (it wasn't the Concorde). This was a highlight of my trip, seeing the best secrets of the Cold War. Airplanes from Tupolove, Sikorsky, Ilyushin, Sukhoi, Yak, Bering and more. The largest Soviet-era aviation museum in the world. If you love airplanes, you have to see this place!
Центральный музей Военно-воздушных сил РФ.
Wow really interesting video, look forward to visiting this museum later in the year. I think the bubble at the back of that plane could have previously been glass and a defensive gun placed there..?
Thanks, it was a highlight of the trip. Interesting idea about the bubble. I was wondering if it was for manually viewing if someone was flying nearby? The plane was really big.
Thank you for documenting this. Difficult to get a perspective of Soviet Air Force History !
5:10 is what’s left of the Bartini Beriev VVA-14.
It was really an interesting video
I believe the plane at 10.18 is a Tupolev Tu-95, but I’m not sure.
You are right, this is really some kind of modification of the Tu-95. All other soviet strategic bombers were powered by turbojet engines, not turbo-prop, like here.
yup just a bear...one of many versions
At 3:35, that’s the TU-4 which is a copy of Boeing B-29 which landed in USSR in 1944.
Awesome 😍
