    Excellent video. Great narration. The F-100 and T-33 are ex French Air Force.

      Thank you very much! Quite a few of those French aircraft seem to have made it over here

    Excellent video Dan and thanks a lot. It's great to see so many examples of aviation history. It's also much appreciated that yourself and others bring them into our homes ( or whatever device ).

      Thank you very much, pleased to bring the sights that these places have to offer for those that enjoy seeing them!

    Thanks, great collection of post war aircraft, a pity they can't be kept under cover,

      I do prefer seeing the aircraft out in the open for a nicer background and also trying to get photos inside a hangar can be difficult, but I appreciate that does mean more conservation work and needing to repaint them!

    I particularly liked the indoor exhibits.

      The collection of trainer aircraft were my favourite, some great schemes there!

    I was lucky enough to see the only Saab J-29 at Coventry yesterday but next year I'm planning on visiting here and seeing the other Swedish jets.
    The collection seems huge here and yet they are planning on expanding more is just crazy.

      I remember seeing the Tunnan too, though it was squeezed in their hangar quite a bit! We are lucky that Britain is pretty good when it comes to aviation museums

    The 1930s Monospar is one that is a unique piece of British aviation history missed in your tour.

      There might have been some exhibits missing, I only had a limited amount of time there

    I made a visit there about 25 years ago.. ish, i think. Highlight was paying an extra 50p for the luxory of climbing into the cockpit of the Vulcan

    • @traveldan1
      @traveldan1  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I would imagine there is so much more to see here today, but you would probably be paying a bit more than just 50p for the Vulcan entry! 😄

    Would love to visit it!! My great uncle Matty was a WWII B-17 pilot, The Mighty Eighth.
    He flew with the RAF early in the war. He was stationed at Chelveston. He died over Bremen during his 3 raid.
    He insisted.
    I found his grave in Belgium 💔
    He was s sweet person, my family never accepted the loss, was too great.

    • @traveldan1
      @traveldan1  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That would be a great reason to visit in honour of your uncle and the service he gave! The aviation museum at Duxford or Hendon would be better to visit for that as they have examples of the Boeing B 17 there

    What a shame so many iconic aircraft at the museum are outside slowly deteriorating. I hope in time facilities will be available to house them all under cover.

    • @traveldan1
      @traveldan1  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The aircraft are well kept at Newark, certainly in better condition than some I've seen at other air museums! Having them housed inside hangars is good, but for photography, a nice blue sky backdrop does look good! 😁

      Yes we at HARS have all our iconic aircraft under cover.

      @@michaelhayden725 Except for the Roulette's Aermacchi on a pole out the front and the 747, haha. I grew up surfing around Kiama and Shellharbour back in the day and remember when the only thing that you were likely to see at Albion Park was the odd Cessna. I think I need a visit to see the completed Southern Cross.

      Yeah, I’m surprised the Blackburn Buccaneer wasn’t kept in a hanger. It looked to be in great condition. In our British climate it won’t stay that way much longer.

  • @wendyharbon7290
    @wendyharbon7290 ปีที่แล้ว

    What about the British Army Rapier Field B or C variant Surface to Air Missile System, in one of the hangars?
    The Rapier System, could be seen in a few background shots, but you over looked it, when talking about the exhibits on display, shame.

    • @traveldan1
      @traveldan1  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't know much about missile systems so just concentrated on the aircraft for this video. I don't think I even got all of them in this video as my phone battery went from 30% charge to nothing without warning towards the end of my trip! 😬
