Blazing Shoal's Mana Value is still 11 if you free-cast it by exiling a 9MV spell so the chances of Counterbalance countering it were... not very high.
Trying to decide if forgetting the phyrexian life loss at 5:30 is just a cute “doesn’t matter versus infect” joke. (Though hierarch beats do come through every once in a while)
1. Great video, I like that you highlight the cards in the screen that are being played 2. Id like to see a review post game about both your thoughts and impressesions of the played decks 3. Id like to see you play a boomer jund list with punishing fire( plus ignoble and bbe and all the boomer cards), because I think that card is 100% safe to unban. Skip on cards that are 0% to be unbanned like deathrite.
Not that Harry’s life total matters but the editor forgot to make him take 2 damage off the mental misstep. Like the card is good but it’s not THAT good. In the video around 9:45 Harry even says “going down to 13” which shows he did take 2 from misstep and it was just the editor that missed it
I like how Harry calls out Carl for being excited over every Ponder in game one, then in game 3 Harry says he has an awesome Ponder, tops a fetch, and shuffles the other two away before his next draw lmao
I guess at one point infect included red shenanigans. Blue/Green infect was my jam back in 2014/2015 before I retired (was really sick of everyone playing Siege Rhino . deck) but my twist was instead of playing serum vision and sleight of hand for draw, i played telling time and Spreading Seas which was slower but they had their uses. Spreading seas was so good against pretty much any deck playing non basic lands because turns out most decks don't want their lands turning into islands (but maybe this was just where I was playing)
Harry cast Path to Exile at the creature. Carl cast Vines of Vastwood in response. Then Harry responded to that with a second Path to Exile. So that second Path resolved before the Vines could.
23:58 dont want to be that guy, but you could argue , that after he fetches he saw the path on top and didnt shuffle the top card away. Nice matches nonetheless. This Format is wild.
was gonna comment the same thing. not sure if I've just been watching too many mtg cheating compilations but I always get a lil sus when I see shuffling like that
Now that Infect creatures all have the Phyrexian subtype and you don't need GG to cast pump spells with Blazing Shoal, wouldn't Cavern of Souls be really good in this Infect deck?
Miracles is a crazy deck, and good thing all the combo pieces are banned. Mental Misstep and Top were even banned in legacy, no way they could be in modern.
Carl, in G3 you knew Harry's hand, why did you play into it putting him into a winning position? Could have been more patient there and let the Path to Exile resolve ;)
I wonder if it was reasonable to splash a stomping ground in case you need to play a blaphemous act. Assuming Harry didn't have a Force, Blas Act could have won the game
they should print a fixed mental mistep like this; {p/u} -> U if it is your opponents first turn, you may insteal pay to 2 life to cast this Im actually probably going to introduce it to my fixed modern format, stay tuned!
These decks were horrible and would lose to any current stock meta deck . This kind of seemed like a waste of time, Sorry. Would rather watch something were a few cards were "unbanned" as a 'what if' series. Can Birthing Pod even function with all the remove in the format? Put an updated Splinter Twin deck through a gauntlet to see if it really is overpowered. Would Uro be that bad if only MS and FotD were banned? Never got to see that scenario without those two cards. Me and tons other people think GSZ and Punishing Fire are joke to be banned still, prove us wrong.
I disagree that these decks are not good. Like I said the list I played won a 100 person online No Ban list modern tournament recently. I think both of these decks are highly competitive and would see a lot of play in a NBL Modern meta, what makes you think they are so bad?
Control sucks. I don't really play paper magic anymore, but if I start seeing counters in Arena, I just concede. If you're not gonna let me play that match, I'll decide neither of us play it.
"Really, is control that boring? But I'm having fun."
That line killed me
12:54
I love this series! The layout of the cards in hand in the corners is just perfect. Thanks so much for all the effort the editors put in.
Blazing Shoal's Mana Value is still 11 if you free-cast it by exiling a 9MV spell so the chances of Counterbalance countering it were... not very high.
Funny how the deck was UW Miracles, but I don't remember seeing any Miracle cards even getting drawn, let alone being cast for their Miracle cost.
Terminus was seen by a Ponder and then shuffled away by Flooded Strand, that's about it
I love the mockumentary style of the video. Please do more like this. ("I love every ponder" got me.)
Will do!
Trying to decide if forgetting the phyrexian life loss at 5:30 is just a cute “doesn’t matter versus infect” joke. (Though hierarch beats do come through every once in a while)
Harry was such a natural in this vid, pls bring him more often if possible.
That is very true, he did very well ! :-)
My man got thanos snapped

The editor aka Carl xd

this one was a blast watching, i would like to see some thopther sword with goblin engineer or any artifact build
Nice format idea, no banned list :)
Also we got infect, that is really nice, i like.
Thank you for the video!
Maybe you would like to do a pauper episode at some point. :-)
No ban list "any format" is so cool! Would like to see the power of Dredge!
Counterbalance.
The card where everyone on one side of the board has fun.
the boring counters, lol
I always like the rebuttal: We're only playing because you want to. Or: Concede at any time.
I guess at one point infect included red shenanigans. Can someone explain to me the interaction during 28:40? Why does Carl's creature get exiled if he has that green spell mking it non-targetable?
Harry cast Path to Exile at the creature. Carl cast Vines of Vastwood in response. Then Harry responded to that with a second Path to Exile. So that second Path resolved before the Vines could.
No banlist Hogaak or KCI Combo would be cool
Your wishes might be granted very soon!
@@CardmarketMagic awesome
This format is a blast
yeeeeeeees infect making a comeback, now we just have to convince wizards!!
Bottoming inkmoth in that first mull makes no sense when it's the only creature the gets around the counters and can't be killed by prismatic ending.
23:58 dont want to be that guy, but you could argue , that after he fetches he saw the path on top and didnt shuffle the top card away. Nice matches nonetheless. This Format is wild.

Nice Video!
If you play this format again, please bring us back to eldrazi winter with colorless eldrazi
Tune in Thursday *wink*
Would love to see someone play no banlist Jund.
Another great vid guys!
Is it a bad thing that I was entertained not just by this entire match but the first game in particular
Love no ban series
Neat!
One question: could Carl have won at 20:15 by animating inkmoth and pitching Worldfire to Blazing Shoal for lethal infect?
That's exactly what he did tho?
Carl! Zombies again! Make it come back from the dead!
i would like to see your guys take on canlander aka Canadian Highlander think it could be fun
Now that Infect creatures all have the Phyrexian subtype and you don't need GG to cast pump spells with Blazing Shoal, wouldn't Cavern of Souls be really good in this Infect deck?
Too many blue and green cards
If you are playing no ban series could you discuss those cards at the end?
God, I forgot how much Mental Misstep sucks. Eff that card. Love the series though! And Card Market videos in general!
Miracles is a crazy deck, and good thing all the combo pieces are banned. Mental Misstep and Top were even banned in legacy, no way they could be in modern.
Harry asking if control is boring xD ohhhh harry haha
I love this paper play so much
Physical magic its Life
That's basically lanturn control with jace. It's horrible and i love it
best modern content ever
Really interesting list for UW…. Not really that great against majority of modern decks but I bet it’s dece against hammer 🤷♂️
I'd like to see Bitterblossom. UB Faeries bring em back please!
Wait a minute.. what happened to the fifth dice??
That shuffle sus
So infect just fully punted playing blighted agent?
You should play couple more turns on the first game. Harry is great. Play Burn
Carl, in G3 you knew Harry's hand, why did you play into it putting him into a winning position? Could have been more patient there and let the Path to Exile resolve ;)
I wonder if it was reasonable to splash a stomping ground in case you need to play a blaphemous act. Assuming Harry didn't have a Force, Blas Act could have won the game
so where i play, rolling 2 and 1 is called Meier, and it wins over everything
It's 'hAllowed' not 'hOllowed' fountain. Great video though!
This is a legacy deck(miracles) vs a modern deck (infect)
I think mental missstep could actually Help the modern Meta at the Moment to slow down all the one Mana heavy decks
Maybe wouldn’t they just run it as well?
Manaless dredge!!!!
they should print a fixed mental mistep like this;
{p/u} -> U
if it is your opponents first turn, you may insteal pay to 2 life to cast this
Im actually probably going to introduce it to my fixed modern format, stay tuned!
Blue needs to be banned
Anytime anyone suggests that Misstep or Top could be unbanned in Modern, I;m going to point them to this video. What awful Magic those cards make.
counterbalance does nothing against blazing shoal due to its being a cmc 11 on the stack.
WG bogles, martyrproc or dirty kitty!
The infect deck is interesting, but it has too many bricks in it
Maybe you could have had a red source to hard cast the act
That would be funny if it paid off :D
His shirt is blue/white
No banlist modern and the first land you fetch is a breeding pool instead of a Tropical Island? :P
Tropical island was never printed in modern and thus it was never legal and never banned.
UW chalice control please
Next time, play any jeskai deck with Geist of Saint Traft pls!
I love Geist but he's very dated and outclassed these days
@@sjdhrjrjejdhdhsh that's exactly the challenge. I wanna see what kind of brew they make. Idk they want to do it or not though haha
That is old school, I can respect it!
Sure is a lot of guessing for a deck that always knows the top card
We stan Carl :)
Play GW Hatebears please 😊
I want to watch UW FarieBlade by Curryvore
Do you have a list, it seems interesting!
