I absolutely love Dimir Control. But no matter what deck was playing, this is the only way to watch. I can see what cards are in hand and cost, great view of board state and a blow up version of the card played to read. Love it

I played a Feather version of the deck, my own version. And while it's nice to have all these cantrips, you need at least 20 creatures, if not 24. Since you can go light on lands, more creatures to target with the cantrips goes a long way.

Sorry, i thaught it existed something like this used yet.
The commentary and level of play in this match is insane. Carl playing against jamin is great and all, but the matches where 2 pros are playing are just on another level. When people say the don´t understand how magic is skillful i show them this match, or the one where toffel just reads through the back of andreas cards in the abzan control vs rakdos vehicles video.
Such great content. Even making pioneer look fun. Think Arne had a field of ruin activation at the end to force shuffle the swiftspear away after the gust, but like that i guess the game stays interesting :)
I think I'm pretty typical when I say, I hate aggro, I hate control, I hate combo, and midrange can have too much value. I think this was an excellent demonstration of that.
32:25 is there a reason he went for the god's willing like that? the hall does not become blue when turned into a creature and god's willing cant name colorless, so is there a reason im not seeing then?
The text on Hall says it "becomes a 7/7 blue Giant creature with ward". So the Gods Willing would indeed prevent it from blocking the swiftspear. It was a tought spot for Simon to be in.

the better way to deal with control decks for aggro decks is to have mana sinks (be it a land creature or an activated ability) or even (less so, tho) cards like homestead courage, i.e. cards that can allow the player to play them more than once [I'm aware that he was playing Homestead Courage!]. Some techs on the spectrum of floodgates help too - Thalia is the golden example of such cards. Unfortunately this is a deck-building thing and Simon's deck stood no chance vs the OG control deck that Arne is using (OG control for me it's basically a deck fully filled with draw and removal, packing as the only threats land creatures and one set of cards that generates them). He needed a very strong curve and at the same time Arne to have very weak opening turns.
702.16. If you're not playing with cards from the sets that contain the guilds, Dimir doesn't mean anything. I could build a UB deck that has absolutely nothing to do with with the "Dimir" guild, so if I told someone I was playing "Dimir" and then proceeded to beat them with an aggro deck, they'd question my mental state.
It's standard amongst magic players to name any deck of the appropriate color combination after that guild. The color combinations usually fit the guild's style anyway. Dimir here is drawing cards and killing things, whislt the boros deck is hitting in for damage. It fits

@@valvadis2360 Yea, the versatility of the tribe is huge. Unfortunately that's also why it isn't quite a tier 1 deck, but damn close.

If you're not playing with cards from the sets that contain the guilds, Dimir doesn't mean anything. I could build a UB deck that has absolutely nothing to do with with the "Dimir" guild, so if I told someone I was playing "Dimir" and then proceeded to beat them with an aggro deck, they'd question my mental state.
It's standard amongst magic players to name any deck of the appropriate color combination after that guild. The color combinations usually fit the guild's style anyway. Dimir here is drawing cards and killing things, whislt the boros deck is hitting in for damage. It fits
