yes, please do another video pricing strategy for phone cases and tumblers. love your videos Taylor. My shop is launching this week and your videos have helped me sooooooo much!
Thank you so much for this video. You are the first POD TH-camr that I have seen tell us how to specifically price our products. Most of them say we have to decide for ourselves.
Pricing definitely should be determined on an individual basis but hopefully this gives a ballpark idea of some strategies that could be used ☺️ I’m glad this helped!
I plan my pricing with a 30% off sale, but i do alternate my sales daily from 25 - 30%. So most days i am making more profit than what i have planned for. And they pay shipping. I used to do only 30% off daily, but have found that it hasn't decreased my sales to alteranate and now i make more money.
Wow! Love the information and format in this video! I too price by sizes and find it works best. I would be interested in seeing totes, phone cases and canvas pricing schemes. Thank you again!
Hi Taylor! Can you please do a video on how to price hoodies and also how to calculate price when you print on the front, back, sleeves etc? Also, do you usually stick with one item per listing or do you do a bulk listing where you sell shirts, sweatshirts, youth shirts in one listing? Thanks so much for being so clear and for the visuals!
Yes definitely! ✍️ made a note of that ☺️ I’ve done both it really just depends on the listing and who it’s marketed towards. I would only create a listing with multiple variations (youth, adult, sweatshirts, etc) if it was meant to be a group type listing for multiple ages. If it’s just one standard design not really intended to be sold in bulk I don’t think it’s worth the time it takes to create listings like that.
I’ve had the same question buzzing around……is it better to sell sweats and hoodies in one shop ….mugs tumblers in another….or slap em all together in one shop
Hi Taylor, I watched the video again and noticed in your profit calculator that you didn’t turn on ads, but in other videos you use and recommend turning on Etsy ads. If you apply Etsy ads, your price point would have to be raised OR you would make significantly less profit, correct?
Subscribed! I must say that I rolled my eyes when I saw the title of this video. As someone else said, there's very little transparency among TH-camrs on pricing or anything else, for that matter. This is the first honest strategy I've seen since getting started w POD. So thank you, Taylor! And keep the Etsy videos coming 🙏🏽😊
I have replied to another comment with this, but I think it's worth mentioning for anyone else reading; running constant sales is classed as marketing fraud under the FTC promotional guide. But this is exactly the issue with Etsy, they only seem to push shops with sales running. And they have conditioned the customer so much now, they expect a constant bargain.
I’m just two weeks into the POD game but have had an Etsy shop for a few years now, this was insanely helpful. Maybe a dumb question, but with your flash sale strategy, are you essentially setting up a new sale each day and just having it run for that day?
Not sure if you have a video on this yet but if you do please link it: 1. Can you walkthrough how you would adjust prices from either Printify or Etsy so that the items in the shop that had been priced without this strategy can all align and be cohesive? 2. I am confused about how discount codes work when running a sale. I know that discounts can be sent to people who have Favorited, Abandoned Cart or Bought previously but I am afraid if I offer those I may be selling my products at too huge a discount to yield a profit so I have avoided it. 3. Thank you for sharing your wisdom and helping people like me who are new to this but are passionate about succeeding so that I can afford a simple and humble life. I know I’ll get there but the past few years have really rocked my ability to pay my bills. I realized I needed to invest in building a business so that I can be more independent and not rely on a company that doesn’t care if I live or die.
Wow Taylor! I loved this. I had my notebook and pen out taking notes. I have difficulty figuring out pricing strategies while figuring in all the variables and fees, along with discounts. I'm an artist and my brain doesn't like math. You explaining how to keep the profit margin at a consistent level while implementing the 20% discount flash sale and sharing some of the shipping cost with the customer made PERFECT sense to my brain. It is the ULTIMATE pricing guide for me, and I thank you for this video and all the experience you share with the POD community that is trying to figure this strange animal called POD out. I would love more pricing strategies like this on other items, one being Comfort Colors Tees and Sweatshirt, and Hoodies maybe. Awesome video!
Exactly what a lot of us needed, you really are a smart business woman! Are there any sites you would recommend besides Etsy, Walmart and MBA (Amazon)? Would love your considered suggestion. Thanks.
Hi!! I just found your channel a couple of days ago and have been binge watching all of your videos. Thank you! You have helped me so much. I have a question, are you running a sale continually? How long are your prices at normal before running another sale? I've been doing some research and it is illegal to run a sale continually the FTC prohibits this practice. It opens yourself up to a lawsuit for fictitious pricing.
Hi Taylor, I've been following your videos and loving them. I have a question.. I am based in the UK. When I put my price on printify US which sell to the US customers, it automatically add the VAT on top. For example, following your pricing strategy: $19.99... On etsy it will show $23.99. With your pricing strategy, is that the price the customers will see? For the UK provider however on Printify since I am not subject to VAT bracket, they don't automatically add the VAT thus the price seems cheaper and I receive more views. Can you advice on this?
Very helpful vid thanks. The only thing I didn't get was your profit calculation on the S-XL gildan. With a 20% discount and etsy premium, isn't the profit more like $15 rather than $8.59? i.e., 35.99 - 13.91 cost - 2.55 shipping diff - 4.43 fees. Apologies if I've misunderstood.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge! It’s appreciated. I’m super confused right now. When I set say a 40% profit on Printify, and then run a 20% sale on Etsy, it’s like Etsy is only actually discounting the price by 5% leaving the sale price way too high. Any insight on that? Also, a respected POD TH-camr like yourself recently did some market research and found that the top selling shops on Etsy run between 40 - 60% off sales. What do you think of that? Thanks again!
Hi Taylor! This is great, thanks! I'm doing a similar strategy, with slightly different numbers, so I'm glad that I wasn't doing it wrong. But! From time to time I forget to start a new sale when the previous one expires, and I keep on having quite a few sales without discount, so I'm often wondering whether I need to run sales at all or not. I found that designs people like they will buy with or without discount (naturally if the price is not outrageous), and on the ones they don't like a discount doesn't help. Regardless, I'll keep on implementing this strategy, I would just like to ask you if you would share your pricing figures for the Gildan 18500 hoodie? :)
Hi Taylor, sorry to put this question here but I can't find which video you mentioned it in. You talk about free shipping vs paid shipping. Which video is that in if you can remember? Do you have a video on that by chance? Thanks and love your videos
Learnt a lot from this video. Thank you! I find the prices that are shown on Printify for Canadian Etsy shop owners is way higher than what you are showing.. I am not talking about the converted Canadian price. The US dollar price is higher. Do you have any tips for people like me who are Canadian Etsy shop owners interested in selling in the US market, using a US supplier to get the same prices as a US Etsy shop owner? Thanks
May I ask you concerning pricing. To have say Prinify to make up a product the base price is expensive so you have to sell at a fairly high price to make profit. I am thinking of shower curtains myself. Thing is you see so many shower curtains selling at a much cheaper price so feel disadvantaged selling say a curtain at $60 when there's curtains sellimg for let's say $20. I've looked at as many POD organisations as possible but they're all roughly the same price to produce. Thanx
Thanks so much for this video! I learned a lot from it. I have a question regarding ordering samples on Printify for ourselves. How can we order multiple samples (from the same printing company) and have them shipped in one package? I just ordered 3 different shirts (samples for myself) and paid 3 separate shipping. Thanks, Taylor!
Great info but.., I must be confused how to price in printify bc with production cost and shipping rates as they are in order to be competitive im seeing my margins without sale events are way too low , around 3-5%!
Hi Taylor - thank you SO much for this video, so so helpful!!! I have a concern that's holding me back - when I see mugs at Target for example, they're just gorgeous, they are oddly shaped (which sells a lot), and their price is just SO low. I always end up not launching mugs because I can't compete with Target prices. How do you go around that? Thank you!!!
Hello Taylor, your information has made me open my shop on Etsy, I'm about to upload my first listing!💣🔥. I'm going to start with t-shirts and I wanted to ask you: I opted for the free shipping mode that Etsy offers after 35usd, what is not clear to me is, what do I do or what should be done with the prices if a customer decides to add another t-shirt to the cart or to get free shipping? An example: they added a size M t-shirt and to complete the free shipping, they added a 2XL t-shirt. Does this mean that with the extra item added my profit margin goes down? Or if a single t-shirt with the 20% discount is 20usd already with shipping and fees, the second t-shirt will not cost the same 20usd, that is, instead of costing the customer 40usd for both t-shirts, it will cost 35? Sorry if it's an absurd question, 😅 but I'm going to sell from another country and I'm trying to figure out the profit margins with the conversion rates. I had to ask you because thanks to you I decided to open my store from Mexico!!🎉❤ Graciaaaaaaas!
Hi Taylor, I’m pretty new on Printify. I got 2 orders and looks like something is not working properly with the currency. I’m in Canada. They charge me in USD the same amount that they charge my buyers in CAD. Do you know if I can talk to somebody in Printify? I haven’t found their customer service phone. Thank you.
Hi Taylor, great vid and info. Do you run the sales all year - everyday…..or wait till a month or so prior to a holiday. Is it weird for customers to return and see the Sale on consistently. Hope I’m making sense 😂
Am I missing the video you refered to in this video? regarding shipping on mutliple items? I would love to see that, I want to do a group listing on mugs and shirts but haven't becuase I'm not sure how to handle the shipping.
I still don't understand how you get the shipping cost lower if printify is charging higher. This is a real pain for me because I do pillows and the 20x20 or higher is $23+ shipping! so ridiculous. Can you explain how you cut that in half? I don't see any option to change the shipping in the pricing section.
For the Gildan 18000 were those prices for only if you had a 20% flash sale ? You mentioned the flash sale for the bele canvas , wasn’t sure if it applied to the gildan as well
I didn’t include that here because not everybody runs ads or opts in for offsite ads. Pricing strategies do have to be adjusted depending on individual circumstance which is why I mentioned pricing is not one size fits all ☺️
No - Etsy will only apply one coupon/sale to an order, whichever one is the higher amount so no double dipping on a sale/coupon. It keeps sellers safe.
Can you PLEASEEE tell me what I should price my comfort colors tshirts if I'm wanting to make at a least $10 profit on them after the 15% for Etsy ads come out?! No matter what I try using all the Etsy calculators is nowhere close! I have been trying to get this down at least a year now and I'm getting so frustrated!
If a customer buys a shirt (MD) and a mug (Spoke), how do you deal with shipping from 2 different companies charging different shipping? Can we set 2 different shipping prices in Etsy for one sale of 2 different items from 2 different print providers? If no, how do we set that up so we are not losing money?
In a shop that offers multiple different products from different providers, it can be best to have free shipping and factor in the cost into your overall price so that this isn’t a concern.
Have you found more success by offering a lower overall price and not providing free shipping, or offering free shipping and charging a higher cost? Typically, I think "Free Shipping" helps you stand out (when not in Etsy), but in Etsy specifically, because literally everyone is running sales a majority of the time, it seems like the main number people look at is the price. Would love to hear your POV!
There is definitely a benefit to standing out, however, sometimes being so different and unique to what others are doing, is not necessarily standing out in a good way. I have found I have higher conversion with listings that have paid shipping and a lower customer facing price rather than putting the shipping cost into the price and offering free shipping. But it also depends on the product type and niche. This is very general advice so I would recommend diving into your research with the niche and product types that you’re pursuing to make a more informed decision. Also, it’s good to test different things.
@ Great, thank you for your advice! I’m going to test out some more lowered priced items and customer paid shipping, depending on the product and I’ll see how that goes. Appreciate your video by the way!
How do you handle the “$35 free shipping” if a buyer orders multiple stuff? I’ve had some orders from group listings of 7+ shirts and if I had the free shipping option on, I would had lost money or just not make any. How do you handle that? Because of course we want to incentive buyers to buy more from us
That’s why I added the disclaimer for pricing strategies and that they really are not ‘one size fits all’ in the sense that not everyone can price their products exactly the same and see the results they’re looking for. If I had a shop specifically geared towards selling group listings I would utilize a completely different pricing strategy.
@@TaylorPOD thank you for replying, I’m very new to Etsy, so I’ve been trying different things, I’ve been selling shirts and mugs for now. I have maybe 3 or 5 group listings, and just one recently took off. But I can’t seem to figure out the free shipping that Etsy offers 😫 that would be so helpful to sell more individual listings.
Taylor, no matter what I put for shipping, ETSY has this HUGE YELLOW banner saying I'm charging too much!! I get so sick of seeing that lol. I charge $3 for the T-shirt and it still say's I charge too much, I'm just curious if it say's that on your $4.75?
Running a flash sale all the time feels like tricking the customers. Is it even legal to do that? Your normal price is never the normal since the percentage off is the normal. Please fix the sound. It is like you are talking inside a box. I like your videos. Keep it up!! ❤
Hopefully will understand my audio better soon! I’ve been trying different mics and trying to improve it. Running sales is a common practice on all e-com platforms (Etsy, Amazon, etc.)
@@TaylorPOD It's actually classed as marketing fraud running constant sales (FTC promotional guidelines.) You can be sued. Will it happen? Probably not, but it's something people are not really aware about.
So basically you set a higher price and run perpetual sales. Is thisautomated through ETSY or just one thing you have to do every day? (I hope to hear your voice through a better mic soon. I guess that you feel it isnt worth investigating in.)
You have to manually set up sales in your shop under the marketing section. I’ve been working on audio as I’ve invested in a few different mics. Sorry if it’s not quite perfect yet but it is something I’ve been working on. ☺️
Love the white board! I’m a very visual learner and it’s easier to see than the shared computer screen.
Im so glad you liked it! I am the same way. I personally love writing things out just for my brain to get it ☺️

great topic, thank you so much!! ❣
Hi Taylor. Always learn so much from your videos. I was under the impression that Etsy frowned upon running a sale everyday.
Im so glad to hear that. Thank you for watching them! And hmmm, I’ve never heard that before. Most shops run a sale strategy!

Yes I only sell in the US.
so how do you run a flash sale? if you set up a sale for 24 hours, does it show the customer how much time is left?
When the items are on sale, can the customers still double some coupon code if they have ones from your shop?
No - Etsy will only apply one coupon/sale to an order, whichever one is the higher amount so no double dipping on a sale/coupon. It keeps sellers safe.
how do you add to the price when printing on front and back?
The production cost would change so I would just account for the change in production cost and aim for the same profit margin.

No matter what I try using all the Etsy calculators is nowhere close! I have been trying to get this down at least a year now and I'm getting so frustrated!
I also go by the sizes and not the colors if that helps any!
Thank you!
Thank youuuuuu🙌🏻
@@TaylorPOD Please do a video on how you would price differently with group listings.
Taylor, no matter what I put for shipping, ETSY has this HUGE YELLOW banner saying I'm charging too much!! I get so sick of seeing that lol. I charge $3 for the T-shirt and it still say's I charge too much, I'm just curious if it say's that on your $4.75?
Yes lol it says that on literally everything. I ignore it :)
I do too lol but I wanted to see if I was alone lol @@TaylorPOD
Do you still offer 35 guaranteed free shipping?
Yes!
@@TaylorPOD Is this spend $35 and get free shipping?
Swimwear please.
