This is fantastic :) glad I looked this up, ever since I was a kid running through forests pretending I was link from ocarina of time I wished I had his sword and shield, I should make one :)
As always. Steve does amazing craftsmanship. Love the wood grain look so much. Harley Quinn wood grain mallet is still my favorite one. I love how it looks to me, like you carved this shield out of a solid log. So great!!!!
Ahhhhh Steve this came out amazing!!! Planning on tackling this build soon so I can see my daughters running around as young Link! Incredible job as always!!
I think your foam is actually the best deal for that thickness(10mm) I've found, so I bought it, and I used it to make the signature piece of my costume, I love it, I also really like that it's grey, it makes everything so much easier
A beautiful build. I love all the organic texture and the build up of paint. What type of clear coat would you put on this to protect the paint for a cosplay prop?
Thanks! I don't usually seal my props because it kills the paint sheen, I let the paint speak for itself. but that is also why I use heavy body acrylics which wear better than lower pigment paints.
Well here in the Midwest nature decides for me because when it’s freezing out I can’t very well spray my Plasti dip. so I usually resort to non toxic alternatives like flexbond and creature cast. This creature cast has the ability to become my favorite with its ease of use and durability
Is creature a flexible primer like plasti dip and flexbond? How bad are the brush strokes when brushed on? I'm also in the Midwest and whether it's freezing or high humidity (always), I can't apply plasti dip.
Yes it’s flexible and a considerably stronger material than flexbond or Plasti dip. Brush strokes will be dependent on how much thickener you add but you could add just a little bit and run it through an airbrush or critter gun. Hope that helps 👍
In 2019 my young nephew was Link and I made his full costume. I bought the sword and repainted to make it look real. But the shield I custom made with floor foam. Turned it with the stencil showing and spayed it dull mental. Gave it a brown boarding with rivets. And for the center emblem, I took a little liberty with it. Looked up how they wrote their alphabet and found the capital L and cut it out of thin foam and painted it green. And gave it battle damaged it as well.
the shield looks great, too bad it'll break after a few hits...i think so at least, i only played breath of the wild on switch, haven't played older titles.
It's the best game series because it's reached legendary status... > I wonder how many people would get this confused with the character from My Hero Academia... (Self-explanatory)

@@SKSProps would you be interested in making something from dark souls? Like the black knight sword?
So good! How do you determine what “sealer” you use from project to project?

@@SKSProps ah! That makes sense. Thanks for clearing that up man, I wanted to make sure I was using the right stuff!
It looks like real wood!
Thanks! I love seeing how far I can push foam to not look like foam!
Steve have you attempted a BOTW style paint job on anything yet? Would love to see that.
Not yet, but I think it would be similar to the DBZ cel shading I did a while back 👍
Oh man what an awesome work! Do you sell it?
Thanks! no i don't sell any of these pieces my goal is to show you how to make them so people can create their own
It looks like a 1000 year old child made it in a forest 👍 Excellent work 👍
@@DollopussD thanks!
@SKSProps do you know where I can get HD foam in the UK?
@@DollopussD for overseas check out poly props or cosplay shop not quite as good as mine but better than floor mats

Ha! Thank you! 🙌🙌
