- In this video, we will be taking some of the copycat pals from palworld, and making them look less like pokemon.
since I couldn't find any palworld concept art on the internet, I will be using my own art style for this one.
We will be going over, fenglope, verdash and direhowl in this one.
Just to make it clear, all of the gameplay footage used in this video, does not belong to me.

Unpopular opinion here.
After being a die hard fan of Pokémon since it came here in 1999, I actually prefer Palworld’s designs. They remind me of the original generation that impacted me so much with its simplicity.
I’m grateful for Palworld as it might give Pokémon the kick up the bum they need to stop releasing, in my opinion, mediocre games.
I also grew up playing pokemon, and I agree with you, it has scene better days, hopefully palworld is the competition that pokemon needs, so that gamefreak starts kicking it up a notch, hell, they sure have the resources for it.
imo new gens have better designs
@@scarfcat4934or just stop with making new generations every 2 or three years. Over 1000 Pokémon, I think we have more than enough to catch them all. And a lot of us already caught them all countless times, even ones not in the dexes in Gen 7.
@@manoftruth0935 that would be nice, but I believe that pokemon has just become to corporate for that, they might just end up beefing up the staff, but I do agree with you, the best solution would probably be, not launching a new game every year, we don't want pokemon to end up like assassin´s creed, or disney.
Palworld's entire "appeal" is that is copies pokemon designs and is mildly edgy. Without their stolen designs, there's no palworld

But they didn't stole the designs. There are like 5 that look alike and most of them are just based on animals which... Are, you know. Real. This video even is a bit stupid calling a Pal "copy" and then proceed to show a picture of a Chinese myth which is exactly like the Pal, so the copy isn't even to Pokémon but to a Chinese myth. The only thing you can argue about is the color palette, but you can go ahead and change it and then the creature looks completely different to what you are comparing it to xd
Then it compares Lycanrock to Direhowl. You know what looks even more like Direhowl than Lycanrock? Wolf Link from Twilight Princess. It's a fucking wolf, like, you can call them lazy, but Gamefreak didn't create wolves.
Couldn't disagree with you more, there's only a few designs that are similar and Pokémon copied thier stuff from other people.
You forget that Pokémon doesn’t own the rights to catching monsters in orb like devices.
Heck, if they copyrighted every creature they made, Pokemon wouldn’t be around today because of all those trademark fees and global red tape.
Pokémon left money on the table in a public area, that’s not theft if it’s willingly left there in the open.
Yes, please don't mind the title, it was just an hyperbole, for shock value, most youtubers use it, and yes I agree with you, pokemon doesn't own the rights to the monster taming genre, now I´m not sure about that last bit, pokemon has a lot of money, why wouldn't they trademark all of their own designs, but even if what palworld did isn't illegal, should have they done it, the way that they did, its a fun game yes, and I really like it, don't get me wrong, but it does kind of degrade game making as an art form, I would say.
@@scarfcat4934 Pokémon couldn’t afford to trademark all their creatures, despite the revenue. They have to be trademarked in every country they sell their games, and that can get very expensive. And the cost it would take to keep them out of public domain is pricey as well. And let’s not forget taxes on everything.
And with over 1000 individual creatures, it’s not smart business.
@@manoftruth0935 that's not how intellectual property ownership or copyright works. Have a good conversation with a lawyer who specializes in copyright.
@@sunla Oh I did years ago. That's how I know Pokemon doesn't copyright every creature. And I have had conversations with people who are financial advisors and economically literates. All in agreement: Pokemon does not have copyright the creature catching genre, nor does it have copyright over every creature.

Some people just find joy in insulting others, and it's completely unwarranted. You did a great job - the designs are nice, it was entertaining to watch, and to hear your logic behind your creative decisions
