      WTF
      I'd say it is due time the dev start looking at institutions, because the way they spread past 1600 is completely bonkers and shouldn't be. African or Indonesian nations shouldn't develop the enlightenment unless the player is directly involved in it. The fact it still hasn't been addressed during all of these years is concerning

      @Aloe Vera the revolutions in Europe were not some gold mines Europeans "got lucky" to stumble into, so it's not like the same ideas of Enlightenment could've been developed "by luck" in any other place. It's not about alt history as it's more about historical revisionism. It's grossly offensive to Europe's contribution to our modern world. People should grow up and accept the fact that the freethinking and progressive minds resided in the western world, not in fucking Indonesia.

    The biggest issue I've had with Revolutionary mechanics so far came in my Kingdom of God run. There's essentially nothing that you, the Pope, can do to realistically interact with the revolution beyond crushing the Revolutionary target over and over again. It nearly ruined my empire as the Revolutionary Ideas in a province can't really be interacted with, you don't get any of the reactionary options or modifiers, and you can never go Revolutionary yourself. It's very frustrating and I feel like as one of the few nations in the game who can never, under any circumstances, go Revolutionary there should be some kind of option that allows you to at least interact with the events.

    • @theArab__
      @theArab__ 4 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      I mean, the revolutionary Papal States would have to completely change tag.

    • @andrewreid7582
      @andrewreid7582 4 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Likewise. Just sort of ruined the end of my campaign. The revolution was present in like 56% of my country increasing min autonomy to 55 in all affected provinces with just no way to lower them. Maybe I misunderstood something. But basically just had to deal with a much weaker empire for the last 70ish years of campaign. Constantly dismantling revolutions only to see the nation flip back before end of truce timer.

      I know I'm 3 years late and you probably quit EU4 but the real solution is, get better at excommunicating your neighbors and just winning wars. The Papal States are one of the easiest catholic nations to expand with. You should have no problem owning half of Western Europe by 1650. Take Venetia ASAP, then Border gore straight to the Gold mines in Hungary, Austria, and Castile. Expansion should be trivial once you dominate the regional powers near you.

      Imo it will more likely spawn if your country is the most troublesome. Like having so many wars and rebellions recently. Unrest i think is a factor too. It was the case with me as Russia and Prussia (i had the highest absolutism as both, but still). It's good to be revolutionary when you are a blobbing nation like both, but not so great when you are not looking to blob.

    What do you do if you spawn the revolution center and don't want to go revolutionary. I wasted thirty years in game because I was a huge Germany and had to disband half my fleet and army because all my provinces were so autonomous and it took an eternity just for it to occupy all my provinces. I just had to sit and wait and become something I didnt even want. I didn't feel like I had any ability to combat it and because of the autonomy I just lost 30 years.

    I found a way how to max crownland as much as possible. If you give to the estates privilegia to get their loyality equilibrium over 50 %, you can wait until loyality will reach 50 % and then seize their land and repeat it until the crownland is high. You should be able to reach 80% crownland long time before the Age of Absolutism. The privilegia are easy to revoke (in worst case scenario you can use agenda to increase their loyality.
    But of course, the privilegia that you choose shouldn't lower your crownland.

  • @Tan-co9nn
    @Tan-co9nn 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    ->played as Austria and enacted "the revoke privilegia", with around 70+ of princes(vassal), colonies, client state and PU.
    ->before the enactment of "renevatio imperii" to form Rome Empire, i was driven by curiosity to complete the "crush the revolution" mission trees and embrace revolution.
    Outcome
    - became revolutionary Austria,
    -HRE dismantled. 80% of my princes subject get liberty desire of more than 50%, so they wont be active during wartime, (However, the liberty desire of colonies, client state and PU stay normal )
    also, it is interesting to note that my disloyal subjects did not start any independent war against me until the end of the game.
    -Diplomatic relation skyrocketed (70+/5), diplomatic points -999 until the end of game.
    -->finished the game with broken heart

    I'm not really convinced the new Revolution mechanics are challenging, or flavoury, enough. In my opinion, the Revolution should be a direct and natural reaction to absolutism (and also to the power of the nobility and clergy). Therefore, the Revolution should be a direct challenge to any blob and WC run, and WC/blob players should be scared as shit of it and try to opress the Revolution in order to achieve their goals. Conversely, players embracing the advent of the Revolution to flavour up/upend the late game should get their flavour, but at a serious cost to the stability of their nation.
    Right now, it seems to easy for absolutist countries to avoid the Revolution altogether, or to simply embrace the Revolution and using its modifiers to continue WC/blob. Also, i wonder if there is enough flavour by being a rev republic/empire? I do like the 'spread revolution' cb and the 'center of the revolution', good ideas. But it seems it needs to spread faster, and also multiple centers of the revolution would help (perhaps max 1 on each continent?), spawning in absolutist countries.
    What do you guys think?

      Imperial Authority gain is currently bugged to shit. Apparently the ai has been able to revoke the privilegia within the 1st century regularly. Any ai bordering the empire can now join if they have a high enough opinion of Austria (or maybe the other way around?) and are small enough. And the Emperor gets PLUS 10 for each little OPM that joins. No scale on gain based on dev or anything.

    I went to war with a revolutionary minor looking to peace out with spread the revolution as offered tribute but it wouldn't allow me since only the home of the revolution and the revolutionary target can spread the revolution. I guess not all revolutionaries can spread. you should probably correct that on your next video.

    • @dardade3277
      @dardade3277 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      the Extended Timeline mod is up to date for 1.30.x, apparently its an easy mod for the modmaker to update. The mod extends the playable timeline from 2AD-9999AD and adds unique nations, new buildings, a much longer tech tree, along with map changes to remove wasteland. Some people get crashes and/or buggy wonky behavior ingame (i.e: personally in my Extended Timeline MP game, I could see the Toltecs on the map while playing as Holland in the 1200s). Supposedly performance is better as long as you stick roughly to the default playable years though, so if you're planning on playing from the 1444 start date and just keep going beyond the 1800s, you should have few problems.

    • @dardade3277
      @dardade3277 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@dirtyjack6300 It does change up gameplay pretty significantly. I think it's necessary because otherwise there wouldn't be any techs / institutions / new building tiers post end-date. I'm not too sure how the mod affects the default playable years, but it'd certainly be a noticeable effect. If you really want the *full* experience of a post end-date game, you can port your EU4 save game into Victoria2, which picks up where eu4 leaves off, though I've never tried that and as I understand it the port isn't very well balanced, since both games focus on different features (i.e: I think religion is much less important in Vic2).

    • @andrewreid7582
      @andrewreid7582 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You have to be allies with or have occupied (during the war) the capitals of: the emperor and all the electors. Remember you can’t declare war with a member of the HRE if you are already at war with the emperor. So if you want to dismantle the empire make sure when you declare war that it’s going to bring in every elector you aren’t an ally of. Don’t worry if your allied electors won’t join the war with you. It’s enough to just have a standing alliance. Once you are occupying all the capitals click the HRE page and dismantle the empire.
