So. The rundown:
The Red Trailer was completely animated by the series creator, Monty Oum, who choreographed the shows fights for the first two volumes (seasons). Sadly, Monty passed away between Volumes 2 and 3 due to an allergic reaction and now his friends and coworkers keep the series going. Nine seasons in and just waiting for news on season 10.
The music for this show is done by the Williams family. Jeff Williams mostly wrote the music, and his daughter, Casey Lee, does the majority of the vocals. Jeff, of course, comes in for any male vocals. This father daughter duo were killer, though Casey took over writing the music when her dad retired after season 8. Casey was also only around 13 when she sang for these trailers.
For anyone curious, Blake’s weapon is called a ballistic variant chain scythe. It’s a katana that collapses into a gun on a ribbon, and the sheathe doubles as a cleaver.
Yang’s trailer is my favorite (I’m a sucker for hand to hand combat) and I think it’s a nice touch that the music goes through club remixes of the other trailer songs before ending on a remix of Yang’s own theme.
Fun fact: Each character is based on a fairytale/legend/story.
If this show does end up being one you react to now, it’d probably be worth considering pairing up some episodes because Volume 1 is made up of a lot of 5-6 minute two parters and that would make for some short videos otherwise. This is mostly due to the show starting out with a budget of whatever they could find between the couch cushions, animating in Poser, and only having a staff of about ten animators.
Also be aware of after credit scenes for finale episodes.
And last but not least, each Volume has a soundtrack. If that wouldn’t be too much, reaction vids to those would be super fun (FlyntofRwby makes some excellent lyric vids). But I’d understand if you’d rather listen to those on your own time. Either way, I’d recommend checking them out.

Honestly would be worth considering reacting to the movie version maybe in 2-3 parts. (The whole volume 1 is 2.5-3 hours long if I remember correctly)
I would absolutely love for this series to continue on TH-cam, I will wait eagerly every single week for new reactions lol. I love RWBY with my whole heart, and I know Elijah will too just based on her love for The Owl House and She Ra. She very clearly loves good character-driven stories and with RWBY if you like the characters (easy to do) you'll love the show!

@HarukoHoshiko Considering RT is shutdown I don’t think they have any say about copyright anymore. Which is why it’s probably good she is editing her reactions because as of now we don’t know what the rules are with RWBY reactions. Viz nor CRWBY have released anything to that affect yet.

As far as I’m aware, RWBY has always been creator-friendly, and others have been able to put unedited reactions online.

In the wake of the recent RoosterTeeth shutdown and Viz acquiring the rights to RWBY, if she does go through with this show then Elijah will likely be posting fully edited-down reactions, as she always has done out of safety for her channel. @SwordTune I mean I guess rwby specifically as the shows company rooster teeth shut down a few months ago and only recently have we been told who owns rwby now (viz media) and as usual the next volume for rwby is pretty up in the air so as a fandom we're in hiatus mode until we know volume 10 is greenlit

@@crimsonxero5924@DeadLog except it was thought of. They've talked about this. They were planned from early volume 1 production. We have an actual stream clip where it slipped out and Monty was there. Blake's old design can be found online, she was going to be a calico with multi colored eyes. They changed her and yang to match neither weiss or ruby had that happen, they have stayed relatively the same in design from their early ideas. I mean the opening trailer was obvious they were planned. "black the BEAST" "yellow BEAUTY" those were their defining traits monty and crew planned for when they only had the red trailer planned. They had no models done, and weren't even sure they were making the show when the red trailer was done by monty. It was the proof of concept, but by that point they had come up with the change in them being together already. There's so much pre planned content im rwby, I guess stuff seasons ahead all the time. Red, White, Black, and Yellow are the four colours taught in alchemy. The four in balance are said to make a perfect philosopher stone. Ruby's semblance is taking molecules apart, and putting them back together which she uses for super speed but for sure it's more complicated than that and Penny mentions that in volume 8. In songs starting in volume one, they frequently mention lightning, which in alchemy is the core power to fuel a philosopher stone and to even create one. A philosopher stone is a perfect element that solves problems by defying the way the system os Science works by doing impossible feats. So, the songs referencing lightning is a reference to creating a philosopher stone, a perfect all problem solving element which is the balance of red, white, black and yellow. So, team rwby, in balance, with the right energy passing through them can solve the problems ofbthe show and break the natural cycle by impossible odds, that's something I got just from understanding alchemy from volume 1, the show is full, has always been full of this stuff, don't discredit how much symbolism is in the show, monty loved symbolism and said as much. It's very evident the show has always continued that concept. Joan of Arc slew an innocent woman and it stained the sword and broke, which was seen as a sign of her sin. This is what happens in volume 8, this is a reference. Joan of acr was also not a fighter, simply a leader, she had no battle prowess but was a tactical fighter only by the end of her life. This is a reoccurring thing in rwby as well. It's really not a show that doesn't have small details, a lot of plot is moved around and changed as they get to seasons, but the details is something that shouldn't be thrown away by simple concepts of "not planned" details are for sure what has been planned the most in advance. A song in volume 3 tells a whole bunch of the story of volume 8 including the fall, showing that the structure of that part remained even if different ideas were added in at production.

The Black and Yellow trailers being longer is less that they're more important, and more that they used them to help build up plots for the show, the Red and White trailers were mainly to just to show off their action
More that Monty out did the first two entirely on his own. He pitched the show to his bosses at RT by making the red trailer.

You could also argue that it's easier to get a feel for Ruby and Weiss's strengths and weaknesses solo. Can't see some of what Blake carries with her without giving her a companion to work off of, and Yang, well... I don't want to put any kind of spoiler in comments to this video but that scenario was very well chosen in several ways. Far better than hunting monsters or fending off street crime.
well, white DOES show off quite a bit, like how she got her scar, her exhibition fight (the knight fight is apparently like a schnee benchmark exam for fighters)

As for why Blake cut the train connection, the guy in red said he was gonna set some e plosive charges. When Blake asked about the trains crew, he replied with “What about them?” He was gonna blow shit up, and let the crew die in the explosion.
That would probably land better if they showed a couple crew members at any point, even just them running or hiding and taking cover. Since we only saw robots, it's kinda hard to feel any weight behind that
I havent seen it mentioned yet, but Remnant(the name of this world) was created during a lunch meeting from an unfolded ketchup stain. And during that same meeting, Summer Rose was also created and summarily killed off.

Share the videos on social media, friends etc (fandom spaces, with people that will watch the reactions). Engage by comenting, leaving a like and it might be of use too if we retweet, like and comment whenever she posts that a new episode is out. The FNDM is known for being extremely supportive when it comes to reactions and especially new reactors so I'm sure that if by any chances they don't know who Elijah is, once they start watching her videos they'd absolutely love her ♡
Plus! She has covered some great series too so If it was me dicovering her channel through RWBY, i'd be content to binge watch other reactions of other series that she has on her channel!

you hit the nail right on the head with the red riding hood comparison! nearly every character in this series is based on a figure from fairy tales, folklore, mythology, literature, etc. sometimes it’s just their design, other times it’s themes and story beats as well

I _really_ want her take on *The Relationship.* With all the hype, argument, flak, and discussion its generated over the years, I've never heard a commenter of her openly stated "persuasion" give any sort of definitive review/analysis.

i have truly wanted you to react to RWBY for years. i am so glad you’re considering picking up this show. i PRAY you do what you can in order to let this show be the youtube series you watch. i adore this show with my heart and soul and some things just get better with every volume.
I'm really excited about having another Rwby reactor. Two things, no spoilers:
1. Don't worry about the low angle, this is the one anime-like show that doesn't sexualise their characters.
2. Blake's voice actor is the same voice actor for BlackSwan from Star Rail, you've already watched her dancing with Acheron the other day.
Although, she didn’t seem to be complaining about the angle😉
The show doesn’t need to sexualize the characters… the world will do that anyway (statistically, this fandom is very dedicated among fandoms to making fanworks, and A LOT of them are horny)

If there's one musical piece I feel is synonymous and iconic to RWBY, its the opening part of Red like Roses part 1, which is the song from the red trailer.
This show only gets better. The soundtrack is phenomenal even after watching and listening to the songs for years. Pay attention to the lyrics if you can, major clues regarding characters and story are given through the songs
With foreknowledge, you liking Blake's voice so much tickles me GREATLY. Would love to see you watch more of the series.
I really hope she reacts to each volume's (season's) soundtracks whenever she completes them as well. The lyrics in each song add a lot to the characters and story. Also, there is a particular song in Vol. 4 I really want her to see. No spoilers from me, but if you are a fellow RWBY fan, you'll know which one I'm talking about.
Personally, and I say this with respect, that she should listen to them in her own spare time, it’s only fair and not overstretch demands.

i think she was actually 12-13 at this time as she's 25 now making her 14 when volume 1 aired and 13 when the red trailer aired so when she recorded she probably was 12-13 possibly younger, regardless shes incredibly talented

For the record (on the chance you didn't rewatch the trailer), Blake left Adam because, partway in her trailer, Adam told Blake to take care of something that would harm anyone on board. When she asks "What about the crewmembers?" with concern, Adam simply replies "What about them?" without empathy.
She left because his hopes are becoming her burden (something she's not okay with) and decides to seek freedom (like the quote at the beginning of her trailer).

Since you like Blake her Voice Actor is ARRYN ZECH (who also voices BLACK SWAN from the game Honkai Star Rail). She is a great voice actor.
Blake was my gay awakening and her voice was definitely a part of that, so hearing Elijah admiring her voice was a full circle moment haha!!

Something that is easy to miss about Blake's trailer is that her partner in this trailer, Adam, says after finding their target that he'd set the charges to blow it up. After, Blake asks, "What about the crew members?", and Adam says, "What about them?" This leads to Blake separating the train cars and leaving Adam at the end of the trailer. I know someone may have already explained this in another comment, but I figured I'd still write this just in case no one had yet, plus it may help the algorithm. Hope you're having a great day!

Being an American who has military and weaponry as one of their hyperfixations, I surprisingly didn't know this until a few months ago.

Well, Elijah, welcome to RWBY. Created by Monty Oum (1981 - 2015). Written by Monty’s best friends, Miles Luna and Kerry Shawcross. Songs performed, produced, mixed, and vocalized by Casey Lee Williams and her father, Jeff Williams, publisher of Jeff WilliamsMusic (ASCAP).
Almost every character is based on a fairy tale, mythology, history, pop culture, etc., but are not one-to-one replicas. We’re gonna meet a character based on Cinderella later down the road, but she’s Cinderella if she snapped under the abuse her step-family put her through and went rogue.
When the show was first starting, the voice cast consisted of mostly Rooster Teeth employees and members of Achievement Hunter before eventually being able to hire actual voice actors, alongside other internet content creators.
The “Red” Trailer introduces Ruby Rose, based on Little Red Riding Hood, and voiced by Achievement Hunter’s Lindsay Jones.
The “White” Trailer introduces Weiss Schnee, based on Snow White, and voiced by receptionist Kara Eberle. Not in this trailer, though. Weiss’ singing vocals done by Casey Lee Williams.
The “Black” Trailer introduces Blake Belladonna, based on Beauty and the Beast, and voiced by Arryn Zech.
The “Yellow” Trailer introduces Yang Xiao Long, based on Goldilocks, and voiced by Rooster Teeth podcast regular and pun master Barbara Dunkelman.
Blake’s trailer also introduces Adam Taurus, whose inspiration I can’t reveal yet, but voiced by Garrett Hunter.
Yang’s trailer also introduces Hei “Junior” Xiong, based on Baby Bear, and voiced by Achievement Hunter’s Jack Pattillo, and twins Miltia and Melanie Malachite, based on Rose-Red and Snow-White (not to be confused with Weiss’ inspiration), and both voiced by Maggie Tominey.
Also introduced in these trailers are the Creatures of Grimm. Named after the Brothers Grimm, they are creatures of destruction that do not possess a soul. Each type of Grimm is based on a different animal (Ruby faces a bunch of wolf-like Beowolves).

As far as the trailers go, all are canon except the Red trailer. The Red trailer was produced as a proof of concept, which was insanely popular. And absolute kudos on picking up on the Red Riding Hood theme. Every character in this show is based on some fairy tale or story. I don't want to spoil any due to story implications, but feel free to speculate as you go.

I hope Elijah watches all 9 volumes and doesn’t let herself get bogged down by some of the fans who tend to try to get reactors to stop at 5… especially the anti-bee crowd.
And I love that she called Yang a golden retriever, and is a big fan of Blake as well.
Everyone I’ve seen discover RWBY late, with no volume gaps or head canons left to fester, has liked it.
Hopefully she doesn't get blinded by the Bumblebee fans either though.

@@Mr.Inktail some of us can be a little much, but I have faith that Elijah will pick up on things herself like she did with Piltover’s Finest. Granted it’s a slow burn and early stuff is very subtle.

I never ended up finishing RWBY, and with RT closing down this seems like the perfect time to revisit this series with you. Its a very unique indie animation that i really hope we get to watch together on youtube!!

Tell me something. I've never seen RWBY but from some reviews and video essays it seems disappointing and somewhat of a slog to watch. Is the story any good? What is the appeal?
@@SwordTune RWBY has its ups and downs to be sure, but as someone who’s been a fan for 10 years I say that the positives outweigh the negatives. It’s got really good action scenes, fun characters and cool lore, and it kind of reads like somebody’s passion project come to life. Quite honestly, even the parts that are widely disliked, are still somewhat good. In the “so bad it’s good” way.
@SwordTune First off, I will clarify that this show gets an unnecessary amount of hate thrown its way just for existing. Literally that’s it. A group of people didn’t get what they wanted out of it and then got really loud about it and now everyone thinks it’s cool to hate it. Now, this isn’t to say the show is perfect. It’s not. It’s got its stumbles and growing pains. Even the writers have gone on record and been like “man, if we knew then what we knew now we would have approached that part differently” but honestly that’s one of the things I love about the show. The crew behind it are constantly trying to improve whether it be in the animation, the voice acting, the writing. And it’s such a clear difference in quality from season 1 to season 9.
But also, RWBY is a show of growth and finding hope in times when it doesn’t feel like there is any. It’s a show of self discovery for our characters. It’s a show that I’ve been with since 2016 and it means a lot to me.
It’s not a show for everyone, even if you’re not part of the hatedom. Sometimes things just don’t click with you and that’s fine. But if you go in with an open mind you might just be pleasantly surprised.
Rip Monty. He gave us a gem with RWBY

This series is so fun because most of the characters have more classical inspiration, Ruby Rose is Red Riding Hood, Weiss Schnee is Snow White, Blake Belladonna is Belle (Beauty and the Beast), and Yang Xiao-Long is Goldilocks. A lot of the main cast have pretty clear inspirations, but beyond that every character has a color inspired name (there is an in-world explanation) as well
The teams tend to be based on characters with similar stories as well. RWBY are all girls who wandered into the woods, JNPR are all based on characters that crossdressed.

One thing about rwby is the songs are amazing and some have very deep meanings for the characters. all of the main four have theirs own songs made made for them to show there growth throughout the volumes. Most people have their own songs as they pertain to themselves and their backstorys Jeff, Cassie,and, the whole music team are amazing!

.....you know, and this is not a dig at anything, but I've always been curious about a low impact sniper rifle. How does THAT work??
So there's the obvious interpretation of 'it hits hard,' but there's also the fact that she utilizes absurd recoil in her fighting style, so that designation may reflect the fact that her weapon is designed to generate, withstand, and take advantage of those forces, especially when using the magic gravity ammo she swaps to for even higher forces. So in this case you could imagine low impact weapons are like irl recoil compensation like gas/hydrolic systems to lessen impact, or here even using gravity dust to lower the initial mass of the bullet for less recoil and higher acceleration, like Mass Effect technology.
RWBY is the creation of Monty Oum, a legendary animation artist sadly no longer with us, at the time famous for making his fight scene videos on TH-cam called Haloid (which is a Spartan from the Halo games fighting against Samus from the Metroid games) and Dead Fantasy (Dead or Alive and Ninja Gaiden characters fighting against Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts characters in a team battle). He was later hired to work on Rooster Teeth's Red vs Blue flagship series, coming in and adding in actual animation to the show which had previously been done solely with in-game footage as a machinima. After a few years of working on RvB (including Seasons 9 and 10 which had an entire half of the season dedicated to footage purely made on his animation style rather than use in game footage at all), he was given the green light to work on his own project. The Red Trailer debuted at the very end of RvB Season 10's finale, attached to the end like an after-credits scene and the rest of these trailers dropped every few months over the next year as we slowly built up hype for this new show by Monty.

Red: Fairy Tales + Giant Transformer Gun = RWBY. This is true.
White: Yes she got a scar from the trailer, so many reactors miss that!
Black: Blake is not super fast, that was anime artistic license, she is only fairly fast; you did not spot "her thing". Yes that is the exact same symbol as the platforms in the White Trailer. Why, perhaps it has something to do with her earlier concerns about the train's crew when charges were being set; right before the "Big!" interrupted.
Yellow: That is not the black one in the photo. You may not have herd the first two talk but you did hear White sing!
Every character is inspired by a Fairy tail, Myth, or Historical figure. Have fun guessing them!

I knew you'd love this. As for the names it's even more along the lines you guessed, the names are, or refer to the colours as well as starting with the same letter. While these are the main characters you're going to love Nora too I mean probably a lot of other characters to be fair but Nora stands out.

Rose Petals - they replaced blood when an enemy takes damage. This was something only done early on in the show and rose petals are used other times in the show but, for different reasons.
For as much as I want vox machina to win and become the new TH-cam show, I whouldnt be mad if rwby won. Rwbys community is very positive towards new reactors so I know they will give you their support

Trying really hard not to say too much, but every time I look back over these four trailers it's amazing just how many things they set up that weren't immediately obvious the first time. (It's also become clear that for all the relative crudity of the tools he was using, Monty Oum was a perfectionist with a talent for composing scenes in motion that none of his replacements could match.)
Ive seen a really cool break down of the Red Trailer. One thing that Monty did to perfection was line imagery. The guy compared the Red Trailer with a fan made version (that was made to test his animation work) and it's incredible how percise Monty was. RIP

Honestly you reacting to RWBY has been a wish of mine I didn't think would happen. I love seeing peoples reactions to this show!! I remember the day the first episode came out! I was so excited from just these trailers! I'm so happy you began your RWBY journey the same way!!
First thing you need to know- in RWBY, everything* is a gun.
Second, they vanish because Grimm (the name for all the monsters) have no souls and thus once killed turn back into darkness.

2 things RWBY does exceedingly well (among others) is the amazing use color theory and sound design. She is gonna love this show.
So, if someone else already said this, please don't worry about it. The names are Ruby Rose from the Red Trailer (homage to Red Riding Hood), Weiss Schnee from the White Trailer (homage to Snow White), Blake Belladonna from the Black Trailer (homage to Beauty and the Beast), and Yang Xiao-Long from Yellow trailer (homage to goldielocks and the three bears). There's a lot of homages to fairy tales or tales of old in this show. And they all technically have different powers if they are a fighter type of certain caliber.
I really hope you watch it as it's fun and touches on a lot of topics and ideas.
Just so you know, everything in the trailers is both canon and important. That also goes for the trailers and character shorts for later seasons in the series as well. If you do continue watching the show long-term, you might wanna group some episodes together for the first couple seasons, because the episodes are only a couple minutes long. A couple other things you might wanna know:
The grave in the first trailer says “Summer Rose. Thus kindly, I scatter.”
If you remember, Blake asked the guy (she called him Adam) “what about the crew members,” to which he responded “what about them?” Provides a little context for why she cuts off the train.
The person in the picture Yang showed the guy was not Blake. It was someone else.

in the Black trailer, you missed blake asking "what about the crew members?"(of the train) when she was told to plant bombs, and he responded with "what about them?". thats why she left
