- Fairmont San Francisco’s penthouse suite is the definition of urban luxury.
Guests take a private elevator to the 8th floor and are greeted with a glass of champagne as they walk into the 6,000-square-foot suite that spans the entire eighth floor of the Main Building.
The suite boasts three bedrooms and four bathrooms of opulence, complete with a 360-degree library, billiards room, private kitchen, dining room and a balcony offering panoramic city views.
"It's really views like no other place in the whole city," Fairmont San Francisco's marketing manager Courtney Topete said. "Especially if you can catch a sunset out there, it's unlike anything else."
Topete said guests are initially taken aback by the space. They are enticed by the vintage feel mixed with modern touches and the pursuit of uncovering the suite’s "secrets and fun stories."
A couple of the suite’s unique features include a private bar where visitors can savor caviar, or a beverage served through a window into the billiard room and the library’s hidden door behind an unsuspecting bookcase.
Guests can also book a private dinner of fine cuisine prepared by the hotel’s top chefs.
Dining staff will come in and out of the suite through a secret door to a private kitchen, according to Fairmont’s executive chef Eric Marting.
The suite is not only an embodiment of San Francisco’s sophistication, it is a relic of the city’s history.
Fairmont San Francisco itself opened in 1907. Since then, the Penthouse Suite has been deemed "one of the highest-ranked suites amongst the most luxurious suites in the world."
"It has historical charm, many famous guests, celebrities, dignitaries have stayed here," Topete said. "The United Nations Charter was actually drafted here in this suite. Many movies and films have taken place and filmed here on the balcony and in this suite."
Besides an exclusive getaway, the space also hosts parties, weddings, corporate events and more.
Topete said knowing the suite’s importance and history, "You'll feel like a celebrity yourself when you’re leaving this suite."
