@@goosebumps5518 I was able to, im not sure how but I ended up trying again a day later and it worked, maybe its because in cmd I changed the drive to my drive windows was installed on “D:”
Still unable to log in though.

First of all when I click on troubleshoot it doesn’t give me the same option it just goes straight to advanced options and then there is no open command prompt there is, “enable safe mode with command prompt” but when I click on it it doesn’t open the command prompt just goes straight back to the Lock Screen.

Just imagine having the brilliant idea at 5:00 AM to update the BIOS and discover this error, i wasn't enable to reset the pin since the windows pop up keeps closing. i've followed tons of other useless videos and microsoft forum and guides but nothing worked except your video at the 7:45 AM now i can finally go to sleep after nearly having several panick attacks from the idea of losing my current work. None of these solutions worked for me, I tried multiple of this guys videos as well as some guides elsewhere. I must've been very unlucky, but then all of a sudden I was just allowed to change my pin. Not sure what changed it. Maybe if you're having issues with these solutions try and wait for a few hours and see if it finally allows you to change the pin.
Been not using my laptop for a month, then saw error that my pin no longer working. Tried to access my microsoft accoun but it will take 30 days to get my account. If there is an error U can't type the msoftware just do it manually by going on this pc it worked only problem is I did everything correct now it says my password is incorrect

Thank you, note to everyone make sure you select the drive to find system 32. Mine was using a tempory drive x so it said it was in use by another process when trying to load the hive.

Think this might be because you searched cmd in the windows tab and not from holding shift and pressing restart

Thanks, since my PE is broken too I used a mini windows 10 on thumbdrive. Lifesaver, now I can try running sfc and other tools after resetting my PIN.

I now have the password option, but it doesn't accept my password, and the forgot password option doesn't work. After clicking on the forgot password, it gives an error saying "The system detected an overrun of a stack-based buffer in this application "

Hello, I understand the problem of the password being wrong, you must enter the password of your Microsoft account after completing this process, not the password of your computer or laptop. Oh god, no one had mentioned this
If you can't find the desired file or you can't rename it, just choose another name, then that folder will be created and the warning that someone else is using it will not be displayed anymore.

The “command prompt” does not load. It will let me select it, go to a pitch black screen, then turn off my keyboard/mouse and not let me do anything with my computer, including turning it off, unless I turn off my router.

Yeah right when you enter the system32 part of the process use the search bar up to change the disk to C: or where you windows was installed there you can find the system32 and proceed

I don't have "advanced options" after clicking on troubleshooting. Is there another way to get to cmd or a completely different method to get past the login screen? Only other option I can think of is making a USB using someone else's machine to repair windows.
Broo thanks a lot... I had this issue for no reason after a BIOS update. I tried to set up my pin but it didnt work. I was about to do these steps. But I thought of shutting my PC down. I clicked on shut down. But it didnt shut. It came back to log in screen. I tried the set up button one last time.. and guess what it worked!! Im so relieved. Thank god for your video. It works. For those of you getting "... being used by another process", go click on this PC and select the drive where your windows is installed, not the X: drive. Just thank god this worked. I had a bios updated and this happened to me. Super annoying because it ask me to reset pin but when I do, it says I'm not connected to the internet. BUT I AM, I tried both wifi and ethernet cable... Anyways, this worked where no other solutions worked.

I was having an issue where I didn't have the option to open the command prompt in advanced options, but I was able to boot from a USB drive with the windows media creation tool on it. Ok i works thank-you. At first there was an issue from typing msoftware, so as i have multiple hardrive i end up doing the same operation by selecting manually the system32 + other folder from my different hardrive until it worked

Solution:- You have open system32 through c disk manually.
If u are enable access c disk,
For that u need enter your Microsoft account recovery key when clicking on command prompt in advanced options.
2)If pressing shift key doest work
Soln:- shut down and start again while holding esc button.
