    I love the inability to understand that "anyone could do it" ≠ "everyone can do it"
    If everyone can easily and reliably make thousands on sports betting in the long run, then the whole business model of running a gambling establishment falls apart.

    For information: 'professional' gamblers start with a fund of 100 units. You decide the value of your unit, but the idea is that you bet a maximum of 1 unit per bet.
    For example, my unit value would be $1 so I would deposit $100. Each bet I make would be $1, with the idea of profiting each one. This in theory minimises losses if bets dont hit, while providing a steady return rate when your bets are correct. It also reduces the likely hood of high risk stupid all in yolo bets (never do this, this is why you lose money).
    So being up by 100 units implies he is up 100% on his original deposit.
    Dont gamble unless you can afford to (insert train copypasta).
    Save your cash and buy your mom some flowers or something nice xoxo gossip girl

Options are a great recipe to blow yourself up. If you just take money from your bank account and buy a stock in a boring company like Coca Cola you might be in the red for a while but chances are extremely low that your money will be gone in your lifetime and quite high it'll net you more money than a bank savings account. Stocks are fundamentally a rigged gamle, where instead of the game being rigged in favour of the house it's rigged in favour of stock owners.

    Bruh, my mom is a retired accountant, and she used to laugh at the returns she was reviewing. Day trading is basically rich- person gambling. She saw MASSIVE day trading losses, and she also saw millionaires who made thousands of trades in a year, only to see a couple thousand bucks one way or the other.
    Day trading isn't how you make consistent money.

    the funniest thing about the Robinhood people is that on Robinhood the money you put in technically isnt even your money since you have to sign a ToA before using it agreeing that any money you put into it and profit from is basically an IOU so if Robinhood doesn't feel like paying it to you, they don't have to.

    • @mysticjuicer01
      @mysticjuicer01 ปีที่แล้ว +50

      He's implying that you can identify a stock that's going up, catch it while it's still low enough that you can buy it low, and always be able to sell it just as it's peaking. If it was possible to do that so easily, you don't think everybody would be doing it?
      So either they're lying about their success or they're extremely lucky idiots whose luck just hasn't run out yet.

    • @UnarmedBastard
      @UnarmedBastard ปีที่แล้ว +38

      The "strategy" is stupid because the entire thing hinges on the line that's going up to keep going up. That's not how the stock market works. It's not so much a strategy than it is magical thinking. You're basically betting on the line to keep going up without any additional knowledge about the company, the product, the company's competition, the wider economic context etc. when the line could just as well either plateau or dip massively.

    • @UnarmedBastard
      @UnarmedBastard ปีที่แล้ว

      Imo the dude is either misinforming his audience about the actual steps he takes aside from that, or he's just really dumb and has been really lucky.

    • @hongyuxiao6148
      @hongyuxiao6148 ปีที่แล้ว +25

      Short-term variation in stock prices are essentially random and impossible to predict unless you have good information and detailed analysis, and even then they are still unpredictable. It's impossible to guarantee that every time you buy a stock it will go up to a point where you can make a significant profit selling it. It's equally likely that it'll go down after you buy it, at which point you'll have made a loss, so this "strategy" is basically gambling. Also human psychology is such that you're very likely to be able to time your buying and selling "correctly" (i.e. you might hold on to a rising stock for too long, or panic sell a depreciating stock) - professional day traders earn six figures and use fancy software to try to predict market movements and correct for human biases and even they can't consistently beat the market, so it's ludicrous to imagine that you can do it just sitting at home. These people are probably lying or not telling the whole story.

    • @emerald3616
      @emerald3616 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      It might as well be gambling. Just because someone got a jackpot on one of their first few spins doesn’t make it a viable strategy for making money.

  • @AdamGaffney96
    @AdamGaffney96 ปีที่แล้ว

    I remember I did bet matching for a couple days in Uni and with around 4 hours of work managed to make an extra £80 total. It's absolutely not worth it unless you're already starting with capital, and I think that's the case with all gambling. I'll go to the casino, but I only go with friends and set a hard cap, so that my worst case scenario is that I've spend £20 to have a fun night out with my friends. The problem with winning is that most people have the sickness where every time you win, you just think about how much more you'd have won had you bet 10x your initial. And that's how you lose.
