CLIP DESCRIPTION:
During the final match, after being blinded with quicklime, Frank (Jean-Claude Van Damme) makes an incredible comeback to overcome his visual handicap to defeat Chong Li, and forces him to yell out "matte."
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Jean-Claude Van Damme makes his starring debut in the aptly titled Bloodsport. An American soldier at large in Hong Kong, Van Damme becomes involved in the Kumite (also spelled Kumatai), a highly illegal kickboxing competition. Whoever survives the bout will be crowned Kumite champion of the world-a title that has plenty of challengers with homicide in their hearts. The finale offers a duel to the death (or near-death) between Van Damme and reigning Kumite king Bolo Yeung. The script is based on the real-life exploits of martial arts champ Frank Dux (who serves as the film's fight coordinator). Denied such niceties as production values, Bloodsport scores big-time in the violent action department. A sequel followed in 1995, inventively titled Bloodsport 2.

There is something special about this movie, and I'm not sure what it is. The music, the light, the sound, the actors. This movie will never be forgotten
The music definitely plays a big part. Just listen to the OST front to back and you’ll see how beautiful it is. I’ve seen this movie so many times as a kid and young adult that I never noticed how awesome the sound track is. The music kind of must blended the background. I listened to it on my way to work and felt like a warrior when i clocked in lol.
The soundtrack is one of the reasons I do love this movie, really outstanding.
Paul Hertzog is a beast. He wrote stuff for the kickboxer film too.

The best part about this movie is that it's "based on the true story" of a con artist who lied about basically his entire life.
Pretty interesting lie though.....

The way JCVD yells in rage control in that blinded scene is unmatched. There is something about it with the combined musical artistry they have used. These scenes and the bottom brick dim mak energy control yells and clips will forever be legendary. Childhood nostalgia.
His yelling blinded is PATHETIC and I always MOCKED IT...He has no advantage using it..PERIOD...In fight learning, you are told anger diminishes your effectivness !! Also blinded, he can not react to bolos strikes, unless he can feel the air coming from bolos strikes...I highly, highly, highly doubt he can feel the air and to be honest, he COULD NEVER feel the air...The 100% truth :):)
I wanted to be JCVD when I grew up and my brother and I would get so hyped up after his movies!!! I think this one was our favorite 😂

1:15 every time I watch this part memories kick in. Being a 90's kid and watching this movie since I remember myself , I came home from the school, I always put the VHS into player, forwarded to final fight and watched it like it is the first time. Truly timeless movie. Nothing can match the art of 80s

Seriously the comment section of all the 9 clips is gold. This was one of my dad's favorite films and started watching with nostalgia and tears in my eyes but the clips and the comment section made me happy.

It was an exciting time to be alive. This movie captured some of that energy
One of the very best if not the best movie of it's genre! Even with Oscar winning actor Forest Whitaker in it! Btw: Bolo Yeung and van Damme are friends in real life... Bolo is 16 years older than Jean Claude and both looked fantastic here!

I saw "Bloodsport" and it was cool. It was the first time I saw VanDamme on the big screen.
Even though he couldn't see he fought very well . And I really admire this fighting from the bottom of my heart .

This will forever be the best fight scene in all history. Nobody can never compare to that.
"Bloodsport" is definately named appropriately and one of two movies starring Jean-Claude Van Damme I liked. The other is "Double Impact". Both movies are good and have seen them multiple times. Bolo Yeong was also in both movies and got beat by Jean Claude Van Damme in both. God bless all!

The soundtrack alone saved this movie. The soul and magic made up for its other shortcomings. Imagine if Sammo Hung or Yuen Wu Ping directed the fighting for this movie. It would have been even more praised.
Reading the comments, I am glad to know that I am not the only one who watched this growing up. I can't tell how many times my brothers and I watched this movie; it is such a classic and the movie score is amazing!
