The fact that people are still making Buffy edits just proves how timeless this show is. How relevant it still is, if not more so than when it was released. This show started a year before I was born. I watched it when I was around 13yrs old and it hit hard. I re watched during quarantine along with Angel, and my god, this show hit you so hard as an adult.
Oh man, me, too! Lockdown commenced and I almost immediately did two things: got a digital library card & began binge-watching Buffy & Angel again. It literally made the first three months of lockdown the best!
I've spent my childhood watching Buffy and no other show had such a strong and lasting impact on me. It taught me inner strength, responsibility, duty and resilience. It helped me so much in life. My mum died when I was 15 and I had to live with an alcoholic father and it was very hard sometimes but I knew that I could endure and live on. Now I'm a grown woman and I understand what important lessons did this show taught me.
They originally wanted SMG for the role of Cordelia because of her AMAZING performance as Kendall on the soap "All My Children". She won a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Younger Actress in a Drama Series as a teenager for her role as Kendall. But because she had played the b*tch so many times on other things she wanted to change things up and play a good character so she chose to be Buffy instead. It's funny how alot of the time when Sarah plays a b*tch character in a show or movie she mostly has her hair brown and when she plays a good character her hair is blonde
I'm old enough to have watched the show when it was actually on and no matter what so many claim now, while it had die hard fans, it was mostly seen as a cult show back then by many while the likes of Charmed was given huge praise . Those of us who spoke of how great it was were laughed at by many who thought it was some crappy teenage show...hell, some still think that too now. Sarah was nominated for a GG once in 2001 and unsurprisingly lost. Thankfully that isn't the case now and awards shows aren't so snobby so those in the genre get the praise they deserve.
I completely agree why would buffy want to be a slayer, to go out every day risking her life and dying again . Like she said in end of season 2. She much prefer to be upstairs watching tv, gossiping about boys or even studying but she had to save the world again. I know I don't want that pressure. I don't think buffy lucky I think the lucky ones are like xander a normal simple human with no powers and destiny to worry about.
Anya was saying Buffy did not work/earn being the slayer before gaining the title, it was literally handed to her like a birthright instead of a goal or honor. Since becoming the chosen one, Buffy has done more than amazing job. Kendra, for example, spent her entire life training & studying to take up the cause, she was completely dedicated regardless of circumstance. Basically, Buffy only takes on the responsibility of being a slayer because she was given the slayer power by divine right. Since any girl in the world has the potential to become a slayer why out if everyone was Buffy picked other than just because.
I think what Anya may have meant was the few years prior to Buffy's calling, how in her early teens Buffy didn't earn the role of the slayer. Anya also may have been referring to the fact that once Joyce had given birth to Buffy, it wasn't as if a higher power stepped in at that point, to claim that once Buffy would turn fifteen, she would become the slayer of her generation. That she would deserve to be a slayer, because of morals,/character Buffy would develop in later life. That said, the argument in that one scene is almost unbearable to watch.
Death is your gift. Yet she died twice. That's why Buffy is the Slayer. She has to go above and beyond what normal humans do. Her supreme sacrifice is always more than what is expected.
I started watching Buffy back in 2017 when I was going through a rough patch and I fell in love with the show. That quote that Angelus says to Buffy while sword fighting (“...Take all that away, and what’s left...me.”) that quote always resonates in my head when I need a bit of inspiration. And even though it’s 24 years old, I love how relevant it’s been over the years. Best show ever!
every video just gets better and better but this. is. the. one. I'm completely speechless about how amazingly perfect this is! you captured so much here: the isolation of being the slayer, her sacrifices, her power, her growth. Thank you for this, by far the best tribute to buffy out there!

On your face that she didn't earn it she didn't work for it and then the Scooby sit there and let it happen when she pooped herself time and time again she died over and over again to help save the world and the fact that she did earn it when she didn't have any Slayer strength and she took out that vampire who kidnapped her mom with this holy water

After they were so mean to her and kicked her out they didn't even apologize when she came back and save their butts. I know Buffy would have said she didn't have time for the drama anyway because she had a world to save. But not one of them even tried. Spike was so right

Amazing! There's only one thing i would've done differently and please don't take this the wrong way. Just at that part where she's saying things are bright and violent. This is hell, I would've put the part where she's out of her grave and the demon gang rip the Buffy bot apart in front of her. Aside from that it was beautiful.

Buffy Summers should be a case study for any writer when creating female characters. I get so frustrated with films making strong female characters by eliminating their feminine side, their vulnerability & emotions. Buffy is girly, emotional, dresses cute, she’s silly but at no point does that make her any less of a strong strategic leader. Anymore comic book adaptations need to take notes

Sarah's best role. And there is absolutely nothing wrong with being known for this role. It was an epic character and an epic show.
