I own a 1999 996 coupe in black and are currently getting it ready for market and going to focus more on my 1979 928. I'm more of a vintage guy.

Oh, that will be fun! Do you follow Jay Read’s channel? He’s a good friend and is working through the kinks on his 928.

Prices are only going up, over here in the uk anyway. My car is about the same mileage, looking to tick over 1million miles in the next 20yrs, I’ve done loads of work on it and it is part of the family. However I will caveat by saying I have had 911 for the last 30yrs and and owned a lot of different models, with the newest being a 997 C2S. So I have scratched most of my itches, if you have only had one 911 then follow your heart not your head.

I love it. It really is amazing how these ‘things’ take on the role of a family member.

You should be able to sell that Porsche in no time especially with all that hard work , that was put into it. It looks phenomenal! There are other great projects out there to look into. I’m also always looking into the good old air cool ones, like the early 1970, 1980 and the last 1990’s but they are ridiculously expensive. Meanwhile I’m fixing and doing all the maintenance’s on the 996 (the mechanic) since unfortunately I’m barely able to install a lightbulb/ no mechanical skills. Anyway I’ll be following your adventures and love those barbecue side you also do on the channel.

Ive seen couple videos where people sell there 991 and go back to 996 or 997 because they miss that analog feeling.

My friend James of Auto Amateur did that, but he’s continued full circle and is now back on a 991. Ha.
When I had the car on track at Barber Motorsports Park, there is a set of corners called the museum complex that takes you down from about 110mph to 40mph very quickly while jumping curbs over a few corkscrew-style corners. I never could master it getting down from 4th to 2nd while heel-toe rev matching and jumping the curbs all at the same time. I’d end up exiting a 40mph corner in 3rd gear without the torque I needed to get going more quickly. I think about that corner often. If I had a PDK, that would be no issue.
Just a peak through the cobwebs haunting my mind. 😂

Lol I want a newer 911 also and keep my 996 to have that older feeling 911 and shifting and maybe use the the 991 for tracks, plus my 996.2 is a convertible and its nice to go out on drives with my wife especially sumer nights 😁

No shame in selling. Plenty of other cars out there. I've had my 996 Targa for four years and it's time to move on as well.
I too will be at Rennsport and will be on the lookout for you and your car!

I don’t think garden-variety, high-mileage 996s (one of which I own myself) will ever appreciate that much. There’s just too many of them out there. Don’t overthink it…just get a car that appeals to you and meets your current needs. With 126 variants to go, it’s unlikely you’ll ever settle on “the one”.

You're looking at a very small sample size fifty years from now they will be bringing three or four times what they are today. We won't be around then but to say they want appreciate is stupid.
