Ugh deer and rabbits! I have to fence everything. If you have day lilies they think they are bon bons. The peony was a lovely color! Cameras are not always kind at capturing the wonderful colors of flowers. I started the cherry rudbeckia also this year and it’s still short and trying to figure out what it’s suppose to do. And I must get some Rose campion! Very nice color in foliage and flower. I had a surprise return on I think salvia also. So fun to have those surprises. Looks like you’ve had a bit of rain as well. The poppies here have taken over and had to move the yarrow out to save it. I really need to thin those poppies as soon as blooms are done. Before I realized they like it here I planted 3 other varieties and a bit scared what they may do. I like things to reseed, but Wow! Now that the soil is better I have more flowers that are getting aggressive and will take those to try planting outside of the box 😊 to see what can survive the wildlife. Have a hollyhock turned tree next to Julia Child rose and things in general are getting crowded and roses want air. A new favorite is penstemon and it’s amazing how it looks at the base of clematis-pinks and deep red purples. The lavender is blooming and love it hot and dry. I have an oak nearby one bed and I think it zaps all the moisture as I’m always watering other flowers, but stay away from lavender and it loves it. You have many flowers that I have started and can’t wait to see them. If the sweet peas don’t pick it up the heat may do them in. Thank you for the tour and hope the wildlife finds another yard.
Yeah, this is the one garden bed I don't have fenced in just some chicken wire to keep rabbits out of certain plants. I don't have day lilies or hostas as I've heard they are deer candy. We have been getting at least one weekly storm where we get a ton of rain in an hour or two but otherwise dry. Nowe we are going into a week of 90+ weather so I hope that everthing will fair well - will be keeping everything watered. This garden bed was a little out of control and had to take out several plants as other things take over. I'm looking forward to adding some penstemon in my garden. Yeah, the lavender definetly likes the sandy soil and and the dryier side. I transplanted one where it rarely gets water and the soil is poor but it is loving that spot. Thanks for stopping by and watching. 😊❤
