Two things. 1: congrats! That is my one day dream wheel. 2. You & Mark being goofballs & enjoying each other’s company makes me laugh every time he’s in a video, lol.
I think I speak for all of us when I say that Mark should definitely become a regular on the channel. You two are a hoot working together 😊❤🎊🎉 Love from Maine, Deb
"OMG I love it so much I never want to spin on anything else" is how I felt when I finally FINALLY did the thing and started using my 1914 hand crank sewing machine last week. I have a long history of arguments with motorized sewing machines, especially my 1980s Singer which has always been an argumentative pain in the patoot despite servicing, I'm hoping my 1970s Kenmore's issues will be solved by getting it serviced, and I have't tried out the 1960s Universal I was gifted this summer because I've been hand sewing for three years now (I blame Bernadette Banner) and discovered that I don't tolerate sewing to get a product I want when I hand sew, I genuinely enjoy the hand sewing. But that hand crank... it's quiet and peaceful and goes exactly as fast as I want it to... once I get into my polarfleece winter projects I'll give the Universal a try. And I may end up with a 1990s Janome. Apparently I'm now hoarding sewing machines too, I even have a treadle machine buried in the basement that will get cleaned up and tried out once I find a place for it upstairs. My husband feels similarly to Mark about manuals and instructions. "Testosterone is never what tells you to read the manual."
I have two Schact Matchless wheels. I. Love. Them. So. Much. I was lucky enough to be able to sit and compare wheels at the well known Fiber Arts Center, in Pennsylvania, The Mannings before they retired and closed. I sat and spun on, compared and tested about 15 different wheels, and hands down, kept coming back to the Matchless. I made it happen and loved it so much I went for a second so I can teach my daughters. The is something special about how the wheel is balanced and built that just makes it so fluid and a joy to work on. Thank you for sharing your unboxing and first spins with us!
Evie I have a maple Matchless and I couldn’t resist the cherry Ladybug, love them both. If I could have only 1 wheel it would be my Matchless. At the beginning of your video I thought - ooohhh - take a deep breath when you open the box and breathe in that new wheel smell. And then you did smell the wood 🤣
I love you two together. You are both such a joy to watch esp when I'm sick in bed. The mood went right up and I laughed today! Thank you for the review. Living in a small apartment, there is no space for a spinning wheel, so I was eyeballing one of these machines. Lots of love from Montreal! 🔥❤️🇨🇦
I have a single treadle version of this wheel that I bought from a friend. I have only tried a couple other wheels as I am a new spinner. I love my wheel and may be asking questions.
I really enjoy the interplay between you and Mark. And I really, really love your spinning wheel - perfection oh I want one lol. Nowhere left to put one. If I do decide to buy one one day then I will be in touch. Thank you for all your videos as I really do enjoy them and learn from them too. x
There's nothing wrong with smelling a new wheel. Fibre artists use all our senses in our craft. or maybe I'm just justifying my tendency to smell new fibre arts tools as they enter the house. Glad I'm not the only one.
I have one of these and do love it, BUT I LOVE my Flatiron even more. These are great wheels and I got extra bobbins for them, Akerworks bobbins. They simply glide on these wheels. I have been deeply enjoying your channel.
I should add that doing long draw on the Flatiron with the orifice on the right soooooo comfortable for those of us whose right hand is their front spinning hand. That's why I got the Flatiron after the Matchless.
I'm looking forward to trying the Flatiron, but I have to space out my new wheel acquisitions so "wheel daddy" doesn't get overwhelmed. 😂 I think the ratios on the Flatiron go even higher than the Matchless, so I see what you mean about long draw having the comfort of the orifice placement and the speed. 💜🧶😊
I'm so happy I found your channel! I have the Schacht Sidekick. I bought it about 8 years ago because I knew I was moving to Chile and i wanted to take my wheel on the airplane with me. I was able to have the Sidekick as a carry-on! Unfortunately I haven't used it much in the last several years but I need to dust it off and start spinning again. We just bought 3 alpacas and they are ready to be shorn. I watched your Alpaca series and it was really helpful. Thank you. I hope you have a tutorial on the Sidekick soon, I really need a refresher!
I got one last year when I went to sheep and wool convention ( a fiber artist’s paradise). I love it. The double treadle has a wider stance for me and my fluffy belly. The tutorial of putting it together was nice. Love your videos.
Hi Evie and Mark, I hope you're OK and your boys are too xx❤️ Congratulations on your New Wheel 🎡 Love to see you both together. Happy Spinning Fibre Friend 🐏🐏 Take care and stay safe Lots of love and Big Hugs to you all Jen xxxx ❤️❤️🫂🫂🎆🎆🥰
LOVE your matchless!!! now I want one. Oh, and those bloopers had me laughing until I cried. Thanks for including those in the end. Love and hugs sweet lady!
I always love to have the opportunity to say how much I like my LadyBug. I learned on it (starting 1 1/2 years ago) and it is always a great spin! One big reason I finally decided on a Schacht is that the double treadle works so well for ease of use and comfort, and it LOOKS like the treadle on the matchless works the same!
Congrats on your Matchless! I bought mine back (double treadle) new back in 2011 and I love it! It's my dream wheel and my favorite! I've owned and sold off several others along the way, but the Matchless is my "keeper." It's great seeing Mark in your videos again!!!
Wow congratulations for new wheel. I been wanting a matchless for long time. They are beautiful. Love see hubby working with you. Lol you go wheel daddy
Oh, I would buy that, my mom tells everyone, I am a spinner. In German, this is an ambiguous word, describing someone, who is not right in the head, so I like wheel daddy more :P
I love the dynamic between you and Mark in this video! It's very funny to see how you two notice such different things, such as you being excited about the storage for the extra whorl, and him being excited about the screw that was used to hold it in place...
I love my Matchless, I also have knee and back issues, and I have found a slightly taller chair really helps with any knee and back pain. Happy spinning.
This was both informative and entertaining. You and Mark are so much fun. The outtakes were absolutely hilarious! So glad every time I get a notification you have new content. Thanks so much.
Thank you for all your videos! Thank your Mark for putting the new spinning wheel together! This is awesome!! I haven’t started spinning yet…..I have a spinning wheel already…..trying to learn all I can before I start.
Oh my gosh I'm laughing so hard now not only do I love it when you have Mark on because you 2 are so cute and so funny together but I thought you said that we were going to get to here blue birds from Market. I thought maybe he was going to do a Blue Bird impression. Then I saw that it was bloopers and I couldn't wait. I love you guys. I've learned so much and you're so pleasant to watch. Keep it up, thank you.
Yay for the Matchless! Can't wait to see all of the Schacht wheel line up (I know, enjoy the one you have but I have & love my Ladybug and want a Flatiron). Also I gotta say, I would love a Wheel Daddy Approved! sticker with Mark & a thumbs up.
Congratulations on your new Matchless. You can also set it up in Irish/Bobbin led tension. The manual doesn’t mention it but it’s definitely possible. If you figure out how to switch it to Irish, please post a video. It’s a spinning goal of mine to ply on my Matchless in Irish tension.
You two are so funny!! Mark makes me laugh so much he should go on stage and do a comedy skit about spinning wheels and wheel daddy. Haha I'd pay to see that lol
Oh my goodness!, I just got my Matchless two days ago! This has been the wheel I have wanted for twenty years! I have spun with a drop spindle, sometimes, but have not really spun on a wheel since attending a day long class over twenty years ago where I tried several different wheels. Even with my inexperienced little hands I felt most comfortable using this wheel. I did get an e-spinner a month ago and have totally enjoyed it and have felt some success. This wheel is like a whole different learning curve for me though. Still trying to figure it out with all its bells and whistles. Your yarn that you spun with your new wheel is awesome. Hopefully I will be able to achieve something close to that soon. Loved your outtakes on this video. Can't wait to see what else you create using this wheel.
I'll have lots more videos coming up, so I hope they will help you! Honestly, I'm still getting used to all the bells and whistles too! It's quite an adventure! 😊💜🧶
Congratulations on your Matchless. I’ve got one and it’s nice but still use my Lendrum DT as my go to wheel. We’ll have to get together and spin sometime.
Watching your videos really makinging me want to learn spinning! 😍But I think I'll have to wait until I have less other things to do. I have a large loom I need to assemble and learn how to use first. 😁 But later on I will definitely try spinning, I've been promised a spinning wheel after my late mother in law. 🙂
Congrats on your brand new wheel!!! Is it really that quiet? I’ve gotten so used to the others chatting that I kept feeling like something was missing. 😂 Love seeing you and Mark cutting up together ❤️😁
Schacht matchless was my first wheel 30 years ago and still my favorite. I was just curious why you went with schacht and not Ashford because of your love of the Elizabeth and Traditional? The new smell is great isn't it! Also I figured out the problem with Ravelry. I have similar problems with Facebook and video games. What really bothered me was Ravelry's attitude toward the problem. I am really not happy with that.
Ashford only does dealerships with sellers who have a physical store location. I do love my Ashfords, but I'm also so happy with Schacht. They have been incredible to work with! 💜🧶😊
It's always delightful when Mark makes an appearance and I love an unboxing! You may have mentioned this before, but your...apron?...rules! Did you sew it or get it somewhere?
This video made me laugh 😃. You should have Mark be you on a Halloween 🎃 video 📹 . Congrats 👏 on your new wheel. It's like opening a early Christmas gift 🎁.

There's nothing wrong with smelling a new wheel. Fibre artists use all our senses in our craft.
or maybe I'm just justifying my tendency to smell new fibre arts tools as they enter the house. Glad I'm not the only one.
