Border View Farms is a mid-sized family farm that sits on the Ohio-Michigan border. My name is Nathan. I make and edit all of the videos posted here. I farm with my dad, Mark and uncle, Phil. Our part-time employee, Brock, also helps with the filming. 1980 was our first year in Waldron where our main farm is now. Since then we have grown the operation from just a couple hundred acres to over 3,000. Watch my 500th video for a history of our farm I filmed with my dad.
I started making these videos in the fall of 2019 as a way to help show what I do on a daily basis as a farmer. Agriculture is different from any other industry and I believe the more people that are showing their small piece of agriculture, helps to build our story. We face unique challenges and stressful situations but have some of the most rewarding payoffs in the end. I get to spend everyday doing what I love, raising my kids on the farm, and trying to push our farm to be better every year. I hope that I can address questions or concerns that you might have about farms and agriculture.
I hope you enjoy my content and ask questions as you have them. I do my best to answer anything I can. Thanks for watching!

Cover the ends of your 360 Rain hoses to keep varmints from nesting in your pipes over winter.

Seeing that partly peeled off sticker on the air seeder and you going back and forth from the sticker to Brock made me laugh out loud ;-) You got a great sense of humor, Nathan.

Unhook the water line to your pressure transducer, they are insanely sensitive and break quite frequently over winter if any ice gets in there

Wondered how you'd winterize the 360. I'm surprised they don't have a standardized winterization protocol.

The water will settle in the Bottom of hose you should unroll the hose to get all water out!

I hope you drained the well head as well, from the check valve back to the pump to the well. this means you have to prime the well and pump next year

It's a submersible pump set 40' deep. And the well installer drilled a small home in the check valve so it drains if it sits.

Will you be able to plant and water the path where you laid the pipe this year?

You are going to plant corn on the same land two years in a row? Isn't this bad for the kans?

Lots of farmers raise corn on corn or even continuous corn year year. Rotations are good and we will put beans there but I'm trying to break a white mold cycle and irrigated corn is more profitable.
