Border View Farms is a mid-sized family farm that sits on the Ohio-Michigan border. My name is Nathan. I make and edit all of the videos posted here. I farm with my dad, Mark and uncle, Phil. Our part-time employee, Brock, also helps with the filming. 1980 was our first year in Waldron where our main farm is now. Since then we have grown the operation from just a couple hundred acres to over 3,000. Watch my 500th video for a history of our farm I filmed with my dad.
I started making these videos in the fall of 2019 as a way to help show what I do on a daily basis as a farmer. Agriculture is different from any other industry and I believe the more people that are showing their small piece of agriculture, helps to build our story. We face unique challenges and stressful situations but have some of the most rewarding payoffs in the end. I get to spend everyday doing what I love, raising my kids on the farm, and trying to push our farm to be better every year. I hope that I can address questions or concerns that you might have about farms and agriculture.

Reminds me of my dad and me about 55 years ago when we farmed in Northern Minnesota.
Rylan, you did a great job! I was lost when it came to all of the different buttons that you had to push. Practice makes perfect!! We need to see Anna on the camera alot more often. That new grain cart driver will be an old pro in no time and leading the way forward. Making memories, priceless !

Had a similar experience last night with my 7 almost 8 year old. I was in the combine and he showed up with my uncle in the grain cart next to me. When I was his age I pulled a gravity with the 4020 from combine to grain bins.

I'm north of you and we were out in the rain getting the acres done. We have had more rain this year since 2019,we don't need any more rain I really don't understand why you say it's been a dry year not around here it hasn't anywho awesome video

I spent several months in Webster City IA. I blame it on Sandi.y wife :-) when we got there the crops had just been planted. She said she wanted to see them grown.up. well. She got her wish.

We just had a meeting with our chemical rep last week about purchases for 2025 crazy how early things start now, golf courses and farms are on very similar when it comes to chemicals and fertilizer

You'll be taking over your uncle's job soon just being a truck driver Rylen's going to be doing work on the Grain cart Grandpa's going to be driving the combined Nathan's office work for you
Give him couple more years and you can retire from grain cart driving

What's your theory on why the corn is so dry this year?
Lack of late season rainfall so as the corn was reaching black layer it was drought stressed. Too late too impact yield much but affecting grain moisture. Plus we just had 2 weeks of warm, sunny, windy weather and instead of the corn losing 1/4-1/2 a point a day, it was losing 1 point a day.
What is that brush you are cleaning the combine window with?

Your son is a lucky kid. I grew up on a farm during the eighties & never got to drive a tractor or got to help out with field work. I knew I should've became a farmer even though my dad passed away from cancer at the age of 52 & I was 13. I think that's the first time I heard you kind of use a swear word. Never heard you swear before
