I think this questioning of .1 second gameplay is typical for a broader problem. Many people (I guess myself included, at times) try to explain away things they do not think they can achieve themselves. Be it saying that Usain Bolt or Magnus Carlsen are superhuman or that .1 second Geoguessr is likely cheated. The huge problem I have with that is that it completely discredits the hard work and dedication of others. Be it the tough training routine (including intense work on your own mental) by Bolt or Carlsen, or the 100k games played by Rainbolt. Give these people some actual respect for what they do! Of course, your video wonderfully demonstrates how to properly question outlandish achievements: trying to understand and emulate them.
Any recommendations for guides to getting better at Geoguessr? Ones that will give you very particular information like you did - for example, the black tape on the end of the roof rack being unique to only Ghana. That's all so fascinating to me. Do you all figure it out individually by trial and error and just a huge amount of exposure through playing games, or is there a database of clues that can be learned right away? Great video.

@@luukienquoc1251 I completely agree that he's not claiming anything per se, so it's technically valid. I'm basing that on my experience, and I can tell you that I did make that mental association for weeks and would have kept doing it if I didn't take the time to watch the video. I'm a fairly average person, so I assume I won't be the only one in that case. I'm pretty sure zi8gzag doesn't wish to negatively impact his own friend, so I'm only bringing that to his attention, as adding a simple "(no)" either in the title or in the thumbnail would solve that issue (might bring less views though)
anyone can be a total sweat at a game and produce gameplay that is beyond what a casual player can imagine. think about speedrunners in basically any game hitting frame perfect exploits, or someone in an fps game shooting an enemy through a wall bc they know the places on the map where people are likely to lurk. geoguessr is a little different because it's a unique game and most people who have never played / only play casually have no idea how they would go about a 0.1s dirt guess but it's literally the same concept, if you pour that much time into any game you kind of just innately know what it looks like based on vibes
well if he is able to recognize where a place is by looking for 0.1 secs to half a picture of gras that is pixelated as well, then I have a hard time believing it
the grass being pixelated doesn't really do anything, the grass is only useful in geoguessr due to its color, and it stays the exact same color when pixelating, so it's pretty much like 5% harder than just 0.1 second guesses
The part about the map options and the car were really eye opening. It really teaches how to think about problems, instead of simply trying to guess to trying to understand how the people who took it work in the 1st place is such an "AHAAAAAA" moment. The funny thing about conflict of interest in a situation you dont know is that if the only authority that check veracity is INSIDE the community EVERYONE becomes suspicious. I think thats why the Bureaucracy is separate and suppose to be apolitical.
As someone who has streamed Geo. My heart sank slightly when I read the title. I’ve never suspected Rainbolt as I know. If you are that good. You can be that good. I’m so glad this video didn’t go the way I feared. Keep up the great work 💪❤️
The black tape is also found in the Google Street View coverage of Reunion, but I'm not sure if that is in the most commonly played GeoGuessr maps. Also Reunion looks quite different to Ghana, so that can be easily distinguished anyway.
I Dont think that most pro are that good they are just LEDs known BC the Dont so youtube but geting 20000 Score in fast Match is pretty comon at top player level
I always thought that maybe since he brought up a few times "I've seen this one before" I thought that it might just be a memory guessing game for him so all he has to do is remember what it is.
I got the Iceland one (well, I guess Akureyri, but still pretty close) just because I've been there. So I totally get how someone who played thousands of games could guess very well in just 0.1 second! The human brain is just super good at identifying patterns!
I always find it hard to explain to people how it's impressive what geoguessr players do, but that it's not the same as if you just dropped them in a genuinely random location, and how there are lots of photo metas, location metas, and vibes based on likelihood of a location. This is a good video to explain it, great job 😊

@@luukienquoc1251 I completely agree that he's not claiming anything per se, so it's technically valid.
All I'm saying is that, even though he actually concludes that Rainbolt is legit in the actual video, the thumbnail is still associating his friend's image with being a cheater. I'm basing that on my experience, and I can tell you that I did make that mental association for weeks and would have kept doing it if I didn't take the time to watch the video. I'm a fairly average person, so I assume I won't be the only one in that case.
I'm pretty sure zi8gzag doesn't wish to negatively impact his own friend, so I'm only bringing that to his attention, as adding a simple "(no)" either in the title or in the thumbnail would solve that issue (might bring less views though)
petition to get zigzag to 100k
It's kind of nuts that the game doesn't load the image fully before showing it for 0.1 seconds. Huge oversight.
anyone can be a total sweat at a game and produce gameplay that is beyond what a casual player can imagine. think about speedrunners in basically any game hitting frame perfect exploits, or someone in an fps game shooting an enemy through a wall bc they know the places on the map where people are likely to lurk. geoguessr is a little different because it's a unique game and most people who have never played / only play casually have no idea how they would go about a 0.1s dirt guess but it's literally the same concept, if you pour that much time into any game you kind of just innately know what it looks like based on vibes
well if he is able to recognize where a place is by looking for 0.1 secs to half a picture of gras that is pixelated as well, then I have a hard time believing it
the grass being pixelated doesn't really do anything, the grass is only useful in geoguessr due to its color, and it stays the exact same color when pixelating, so it's pretty much like 5% harder than just 0.1 second guesses

Excellent deconstruction. Basically, the lesson is to practice, memorize and have luck.
As someone who has streamed Geo.
My heart sank slightly when I read the title.
I’ve never suspected Rainbolt as I know. If you are that good. You can be that good.
I’m so glad this video didn’t go the way I feared.
Keep up the great work 💪❤️
2:25 You have Yellow City signs in Germany as well.
The black tape is also found in the Google Street View coverage of Reunion, but I'm not sure if that is in the most commonly played GeoGuessr maps. Also Reunion looks quite different to Ghana, so that can be easily distinguished anyway.
Nah rainbolt is cheating and paid Oscar to cover it up. 😅
i agree the whole worldcup is a setup to fool people
I Dont think that most pro are that good they are just LEDs known BC the Dont so youtube but geting 20000 Score in fast Match is pretty comon at top player level
The fact that you have a blonde white female in the pfp and swift being your username is all i need to know
The black tape is actually present in réunion too, but it's on the back of the car.
I don't think zi8gzag needs to make a clickbaity video like this using rainbolt's fame anymore!
intro music is heat
whoa i guessed Iceland too, its quite distinctive :)
