As dirtydot said there should be no SoL for any violent crime. If rape cases are never closed until there is a conviction, why should aggravated assault cases be? Surely everyone understands that beating someone into a cripple is far worse than even rape.

Sad the parents didn't pick up up the signs and relent when his buddy pulled out. Bet those poor parents have beaten themselves over the head thousands of times for not listening to their son. I’d like to offer an alternative explanation for the suspect cap labeled,” HUSKY” at about 2:37:38 - Depending on its appearance, it could simply have referred to the “Husky” brand of hand and power tools, which are common enough in hardware stores. (in fact, I regularly use one of their box cutters at work.)
55:04 does anyone else think that the bully, the boy that had the victim’s fishing rod knows, or is himself Matthews’s killer? I don’t believe that he would have just given him the rod. Especially as it was a gift from his beloved grandfather. I can imagine a situation where the bully had hassled him for the fishing rod and had been told no. A knife was brought out, but the answer was still no. The bully became enraged and stabbed the victim and took the rod for himself. He then removed the victim’s clothes to make it look like a sex crime. The bully could have been alone when he murdered the victim, but he also could of had other teens with him. Those (then) teenagers know who did it, they have information about the murder. If this is what happened, I sincerely hope that one of those individuals come forward to the authorities and tell them what they know, or what they heard in the days, weeks following the crime. At the time, I can imagine that they all swore to never say anything. Either due to misplaced loyalty or fear... or both. I really hope that the family gets answers soon. They deserve, at the very least, to know what happened to their beautiful compassionate boy.
I'm really enjoying these compilations. Not to be morbid but they help me fall asleep. The narrations are very soothing and compassionate.
