- Hi Everybody,
A few of my viewers have asked if I could explain how I was able to install ReShade, and manage to get it working without issue within the X-Plane 12 environment.
I hope this video answers some of the questions I've received, also keep in mind that you use reshade at your own risk. Just because I was able to get it working, doesn't mean you'll have the same luck.
Below you'll find links to both reshade and any additional shaders and textures that may be required/missing from the initial install.

Perfect! thank you! it helps knowing that you activate it during night then, didn't know that, one question, my logic says this doesn't have any impact on FPS, does it? i install extended lights, but i noticed that still while getting closer to the area of lights they still appear out of nowhere is that normal or am i doing something wrong, cheers!
What you may be seeing at altitude mostly bunches of AI popping into position coming from X-Plane 12. But Extended lights should go out to the horizon.
@@swannsim4658 arrrg so followed all the steps, everything was going fine, but my xplane is via steam, so i guess it goes into conflict with that shortcut when it starts? says fatal error and closes down saying steam needs to run, any idea?
@@TheAlmanac-wn1bm Maybe you can try using Nvidia Experience to add effects into XP12.
@@swannsim4658 mmmh i have an AMD card, is there any way around to run reshape without doing the shortcut "allow" thingy? Cheers!
Does reside affect performance at all? Any FPS loss?
I haven't seen any on my end, but I'm running an AMD 7950x3D with a 4090 asus video board.
How are you doing with hurricane Milton?
Just some bouts of downpours with some heavy wind, followed by calm. Nowhere near as bad as I thought it was going to be, much worse up North. Thanks for asking!
Followed the tutorial, but reshade won't start when launching Xplane.
Tried multiple installs, I did create the shortcut with --allow_reshade
Could Zink be a problem?
I am running with nvidia card, but get much better performance and smoothing with Zink enabled.
Figured out that reshade is only working when Zink is disabled.
Tried to install it with Vulkan and OpenGL.
@@jeroenvermeulen3328I don't use zink but can see how it would interfere with the operation of reshade.
Did you manage? do you have it via steam? cheers!
