People would literally order the cardboard if you told them to.... You're ability to describe your experience in so beautifully genuine with a wonderful expression
That burnt sticky rice at the bottom is literally the best part of a Paella. In order to cook a decent homemade Paella you will need good homemade broth (seafood is my favourite) and a special rice variety called “bomba” in Spain. If you not use this variety of rice the Paella will be a failure such as trying to make Sushi with another type of rice. My mum use just prawns to cook the broth ( very important to use the prawns heads for richness) starting with tiny little pieces of red and green pepper and garlic frying in the pan with a little bit of olive oil, later on just add the correct amount of rice and styr a little just to add the broth, mussels, calamari and prawns or any other type of seafood or even fish that you like. Another essential ingredient is saffron, but has to be natural pure saffron witch is quite an expensive ingredient. Just at the end of the cooking process turn the heat to the max for about 1 minute or so to create that crusty burnt layer at the bottom. Trust me in this just use bomba rice😂
I spent 2 months in Valencia after Hurricane Katrina. The best food we had was at a friend's birthday party. They had a paella pan that was about 4 feet in diameter. Rabbit was the feature of that particular family's recipe.
For paella definitely a must is going to Albufera/El Palmar( very close to Valencia). Don't miss that chance to eat or just go around those beautiful rice fields and lake natural park.
Hope you enjoyed Spain! Next time you should try the Tortilla de Patatas the true national dish! The biggest debate you can have with a spaniard is if we make it with or without onions! (Croquetas is also something you should definitely try!)
I'm spanish and I can say that Tortilla de Patatas should not have onion. And I prefer the marinera (seafood) paella over the Valencian one. Definitely.
Hi Lexie... Love your channel... Great work... I was wondering what type of camera are u using when walking around in Italy.. Quality looks awesome.. Planning a trip to Europe in 2 years.. Can't wait.. Thank you for such great information very helpful.. Cheers 🥂
I recommend you next trip to Valencia a place to look how paella is cooking, it's a farm with a restaurant: Barraca de Montoliu. It's in the outskirts of Valencia city. Autentic 100% 🥘 Paella Valenciana
Hi, I live in Barcelona. Did you try the black rice or fideua. Those are also really good. Also, if you're still in town, and want to make a cool story vist the restaurant Can Culleretes which has been open for centuries and is one of the oldes restaurants in the world. Try their Canelons. Bye
Like your videos. Btw it’s my birthday today. Hope to have some wishes from you. You do know that I love to venture out and explore the places that I have never visited.❤️🎂🙏
First part of the video was going well, until you decided to go to Barcelona, where paella isn't from, to attempt to cook a paella with a foreigner and adding capsicum, onion and was that peppers as well!!!??? Jesus! You obviously didn't pay attention in Valencia to how it's made and the ingredients. I'm sure what you ate was lovely but that's NOT paella. Note that there a lots of rice dishes in Valencia, but only paella valenciana the de marisco (seafood) are called paella - everything else, is called arroz co, or arroz al (translates into "rice with")
I visited Spain some years back and had some of their famous paella. As a Hispanic living in Central Texas I wasn't impressed at all. Was it bad? No. But I firmly believe Tex-Mex and Mexican food in general blows away anything coming from Spain.
Let's agree to differ: Paella actually comes from Pilau, introduced by the Arabs (Moors) when they introduced rice to this region of present day Spain which they ruled for 300 years. Also known in Turkey as Pilaf with many variations along the Silk Route , Middle East, North Africa and the Swahili coast.
Hi! Spaniard here 😄 Actually Arabs introduced the cultivation of rice (which is a key element in the creation of paella of course!) but the recipe originated years after the Arabs left the country, and its origin derives from the mixture of vegetables and produce poor working-class people from the Valencia region could find and harvest in their land. The origin of the word "paella" comes from the Valencian language, meaning "frying pan", which in turn comes from the Latin word "patella" which also meant frying pan. So yeah the influence of Arab cuisine during the period in which they colonized Spain is undeniable - they introduced things like rice and several vegetables and spices. Those ingredients influenced Spanish cuisine and some of those ingredients became key elements of the paella, but the word paella didn't come from any Arab language, and the recipe itself didn't come from them either!
It's what Indians call in South Africa, chicken or mutton breyani in my country we have the 2nd highest population of Indians outside India that was brought here as slaves ,you have to come out here ,I'll be your tour guide !!!!!!
La Pepica is famous, but, uses that fame to go overpriced for such a humble workers' meal. Better to go to the city center to find the best Paella and a lot cheaper. If people see this, you can easily find a 2-person freshly made Paella for under 20 Euros.
why tf you dont travel with someone I know how fascinating traveling is Iam also a traveller but I can imagine it will be without a buddy while Traveling :(
I'm glad you enjoyed your time in Spain and our food too! 💛💛💛

MInute 7:32 That brownie, sticky rice at the bottom of the paella pan is called "socarrat" in the valencian language (valenciano).

Rabbit is a feature of paella. No rabbit, no paella.
Thanks for the tour of Valencia and Barcelona. I love to cook paella, have an authentic pan and it's a process as you refine your own style.
Great content as usual. Great editing. Fantastic visuals - food, ambience, etc. Just s quick note: it’s not pronounced “Pa-ye-ya”, it’s “Pa-eh-ya”.
Thanks Lexie for introducing to this new delicacy of paella.
Such a good way to experience Spain!
Great video lovely Lexie the Paella looks amazing!!!
That 2nd paella looks amazing! I miss Spain and can't wait to go back!
As someone who doesn't eat seafood, I was excited to realize you can have them made with chicken. Probably not quite the same, but it worked for me!
The chicken and rabbit paella is the original, its called Valencian Paella, its the one we eat the most
th-cam.com/channels/AV-k2VZkwqIhBVKlCAeOvg.html
its originally made with chicken

Hello sisters

Food preference as with many things is subjective. I love all the food you mentioned plus many other foods from around the world.
The honey is not made for donkey's mouth
The last one it´s not Paella, it´s rice with stuff.
