Back in the 90s, I had a 79 with a 345. A buddy of mine, who worked in the Scout plant back in the day, helped me rebuild the factory Carter thermoquad. After we did that, it ran like a dream. Those carburetors can be dialed in if you know what you're doing.

Why do you like the presto-lite? I will be starting a full restoration on a 1976 Scout Traveler and I am starting a parts list. Thanks for all your advice.

So first off, I covet this thing. Next, why prestolite vs pertronix?

I love seeing the work you guys do and the things you do with your scouts. I've been getting a 68 800 with a twin stick and a 196 going. New wiring harness is in and the dash is out and I'm almost done installing electric windshield wipers. Next I'm on to dropping the tanks and figuring out the condition they are in while I'm waiting for the fuel pump to show up. Engine is showing good compression so with a clean fuel system she should be a runner!

AFAIK, the correct name for that exact style rims are "Daytonas" with the rounded triangular punchouts.

Love it! Grats you finally realized your dream. Also love the guys at Binder Bineyard, they are throwing an EFI in for us right now. I bought my wife's Scout as her mid life crisis car. It's always been a dream car for her. We live watching your vids keep it up!

You made a hardtop Scout II with roll up soft top sides (awesome!) and DIDN'T put the trademark "up-swoop" at the back of the side windows!?! Sacrilege!

I loved the prestolite as well, until the epoxy melted and stranded me on the trails . But to each there own. Great truck and awesome video!

I would love to hear your lessons learned about tire choices for these truck! i am trying to stay stock steel wheels and choose a tire, tough decision. i want a little bit bigger than stock but not to big where it changes the on road feel to much. tough finding the compromise between stock tire and something that looks a little better. it would be great to hear your thoughts. great videos

I run 31x10.50s with the rough country 2.5 lift. 65-70mph highway no problem. Very good handling on 2 lanes and gravel. My steering has a little slop to it but it is manageable

I love you vid`s, But I makes me miss my 77 Scout 2 had to let it go due to gas prices and at the time I needed a daily driver
