Playing your videos in the background have been great way to keep my spirits up while doing all the re-sawing with a 16in panel saw. Thank you!
Its a beautiful doll chair, my first attempt at this has been pulled out of the junk pile and it is going to be repurposed as a doll chair for my granddaughter. With some crafty skills from grandma, it will be a great doll chair.
LOL that darkish-brown bookstand at the beginning of your video - you will find that exact one in almost any middle eastern/south Asian shop you go into in America. And you’ll find it in literally every mosque in America. It’s the classic little stand for putting the Quran on when you’re reading it or even just to hold it. What an intersection of worlds seeing it pop up in your video!

I've just ordered my first woodworking books as a beginner and this is a project I definitely want to make as my wife wants to write a book herself!! I just wanted to say I love your channel and I will be getting one of your card scrappers!! I also want to use mostly hand tools because I have neighbors and do not want to make too much noise!! Lol Peace!!
I made this from red oak and left the knife marks so some clever chap decided that was where it was all glued together. Oh well. Great project thank you.

Made me buy your card scraper -- I've been using mild steel, looking forward to the real thing. Roubo was 18th century, 1700s. It's confusing. My son, who loves 18th century France, schooled me!
I think if you research it you will find that the folding bench/ book holder originated in the orient. My great grandfather brought one back from China in the early 1900's that was an antique, many hundreds of years old. It was very intricately carved and made from an extremely hard reddish hard wood from somewhere over there. Not to take anything away from Roubo. It is a great project. There is also one I saw that's a 4 piece stool that had3 separate hinges..
they have been spawned several times around the world. there are versions of it in Egypt. Roubo is just the one that documented it, and many of the things in his book bear his name as he was the first to document it in western culture.
This kind of thing really impresses me personally. I love the whole idea of moving parts without any fasteners or metal. Could you possibly expand on this technique and make a cabinet where the face and doors are from a single piece? Im not sure if that would be possible but it would be very impressive if you could.
it is a birds mouth. I do not have a video on it but it is fairly simple it is just a vertical and horizontal board joined with gussets and it clamps in the bench vice to bring the cutting surface up to about shoulder height.
neat little project! My wife and I look "beyond" the obvious (in this case the little stand) and observe background items. TWO so far (5:05) have intrigued us. The first was your rip stand and the second is the coping saw stand. Do you have videos showing the creation of those 2 items?

I would have to make the holes bigger to get that blade in there. I could use a jewelers saw, but where is the fun in that. and it would probably take longer.

Yes, I am scared of resawing. Question: The warped one that you purchased, could you rehydrate it with steam and then set it flat with heavy weights while it dries out to straighten it? Not saying that you should, but could you 'unwarp' it if you wished?
theoreticly you might get some of it out, but it would take a LONG time and a LOT of weight. my guess for that would be around 200# and full boiling. but it might be worth the try. just have to set it up some ware so it can dry for a few months like that.

What do call the v bench vise (large jewelers vise). I want to make one but can’t get a good look at yours. Any plans or pics you can share ?

After drilling the holes for the hinge. Why not just cut the lines with the coping/fret saw?

Your daughter is correct. It is a chair. Roubo created the design based of a simplifed Chinese Lu Ban (Luban) folding stool.
Sun might say that. However the design is much older from the middle East as a book stand. Some of them dating all the way back to 500 or 600 BC.
Incidentally, if you google pad saw you should be able to find reproductions of the key hole saw.
