Deidara just wanted to create Art. Itachi was a true hero of Konoha. Kisame was like the best bodyguard friend. Obito was just upset about Rin's death and never forgave Kakashi or the Leaf village. Konan and Nagato were war orphans who wanted to bring about world peace in their own image. And Zetsu was well he's just Zetsu who's probably the most evil next to Kakuzu and Hidan.
Wasn't Kakuzu send out by his freakin village to Assassinate the first Hokage? That in itself is a pretty HARSH mission to send someone on. It's the first Hokage after all. As far as I know Kakuzu survived the Encounter (which in itself is a statement on his strength) but then got imprisoned, shunned and tortured by his own village before he snapped and went rogue? I mean it's like your whole motherland irl sends you out to kill Trump or Putin and then makes your life a living hell after you failed that. His own Village marked him as an criminal, the Leaf shouldn't have been on good terms with him either. he must have had a LOT of enemies and people out for his head after he just failed an extremely hard mission. As far as I know that even was BEFORE he got the forbidden Jutsu he uses. What did his village expect to happen? They just send in a random guy to shiv a legend like it was no biggie? To be honest I completely understand why he went rogue and gave no shit about others anymore. So I wouldn't say he had no reason to become a criminal. It literally was his only way left. That doesn't mean he's a poor, fallen good guy now...but he HAD his reasons to go rogue When it comes to Hidan though, yea. That guy is just a Lunatic.

Hidan is actually OP. Yes, his jutsu has lots of flaws, and easy to go past it when you know about it. BUT, it was really REALLY terrifying nonetheless. Try to imagine the despair and hopelessness when Hidan stabbed himself with that curse and no one could do anything to help Asuma. THat despair in both Asuma and Shikamaru's eyes as they watched it all happen...... Tbh, Hidan's jutsu can get anyone off-guard 'coz no one knows about it. Actually Shikamaru and his team were lucky that Hidan and Kakuzu had to retreat to seal the 2 tails, coz they would've been wiped out in the spot and secrets of Hidan's jutsu wouldn't have been analyzed further.
