Not only does the jacket look awesome, but you’re literally GLOWING queen!!! Your excitement about it just shines through and made me so happy to watch !!!! ☺️👑💜💗💕 thank you April !!! great content as always!! 😍😭🙏🌈🎀👏👏👏
Jacket looks great! It reminds me of the patch jean maxi skirt I made as a young teenager back in 70’s....oh my, now I really feel my age...lol... just goes to show fashion just recycles it’s trends. Nothing is really new, just updated or refashioned. Thanks for sharing your talent!
You have NO IDEA how helpful this is! I lost 100 lbs, so have a plethora of jeans in various sizes. The owner of the local consignment shop also gave me a HUGE bag of jeans scraps. I have enough to fill a 25 gallon tote. I was on the verge of just donating them to charity, but was afraid they'd just throw them away; a massive waste. The environment, & I , thank you!
That’s exactly what I needed to see, especially removing parts of the original shirt, leaving a skeleton more or less. Thanks for the tutorial… totally got me inspired now..
Don't be afraid to wash it. I think you'll love the freying it causes. Great job! I did a patchwork denim jacket but I love the idea of making the seams on the outside and allowing it to frey.
Maaaan ,needed this video! I cut up an oversized jacket and bought a pattern to see if I could make it fit. Then got discouraged. Much easier way to upcycle my jacket, thanks 😁
I love how fun the reveal was this video!! Please please do more like this, it gives the piece so much more personality and you looked like you were having a lot of fun!
Wow that jacket is awesome. You did a great job. I want to give it a try. I hope mine comes out just as super as yours. Thank you for sharing this great video. You make it look so easy.
@@itsqueendebae here's another tip: I always forget which sleeve goes left and which right, so as soon as I've cut them I handsew in an L and R in a contrasting thread in each to tell them apart.
Hmm I might need to look into my stash of worn out jeans I knew I kept them for a reason! As someone with thick thighs who has a tendency to wear wholes in my pants finding ways to reuse them is great!
This remind me of my fashion reconstruction project, I also used thrifted denim.....I made a whole two piece, it was so much fun to create.... this just brought back so much good memories from my first fashion show
I’m literally 7 seconds into this video and got excited because this jacket reminds me of Japanese style patchwork “Boro” 💛💛💛 P.S lots of love from a small TH-cam 💛🦋
coolirpa Im way too excited that you commented back ! But I watched that one too and I loved it. I said in a comment earlier that I did something like this before but your way is so much easier. I should have sewn in all of my patches when my patterns were flat 😅
I can actually feel the excitement in assembling the jacket 😊 All the patches were perfectly placed especially on the sleeves. Also April got that funky dance moves. 💃 Love it 💕 Thank you for sharing this one.
I would go back over your construction seams with your Serger. It will last longer. Double topstitch all your patches. Most denim has felled seams to keep it from fraying. This will make your garment washable and help fray the patches. Awesome as always❤️
This would be such a great idea to recycle old jeans because there are so many old jeans at op shops! Probably from all the way back to the 80s or 70s!
I must have been a TH-cam hiatus when this came out. 🙄 Brilliant April! Now I just need a shirt. Have mega loads of jeans from my Jean bags making stash. This jacket is a must!💖
Fyi... I would have flipped the base shirt inside out so it becomes a lining and the pockets would have been pockets inside the jacket!!! ...in theory, because I have never sewn a jacket, I would have base stitched the patches on the base shirt and then detached the shirt from the patches.
never sewed before but I bought a sewing machine at the start of the year and because I thought it would be fun, I made a patchwork bag out of old jeans I had, as my very first sewing project lol (yes, I am way too optimistic about my own skills and chose to make a bag from scratch). But it turned out to be almost a full bag, its actually really cute but I didn't finish it because I thought the trend wouldn't come back but here we are lol.
This was a fav video of mine. I definitely want to recreate it for myself. Probably oversize and longer because I love love oversize Jean jackets in the spring. So cool! Your shortcut way of creating it too was really dope! Thought it was about to be more complex.
@@coolirpa yes looks so good. Please do make other projects for the leftovers. denims takes so much resources to make them. i made a skirt out of denim scrap 😅. Maybe i should try a skort. Also yay to legend of korra!
This jacket is amazing! I love how you used the denim shirt as a template to create your own style. I'm really inspired to try making one to match my patch work skirt.
Now this is art. It’s a great way to recicle the clothes you don’t use anymore instead of throwing them away. Thank you so much April!!!!
Agreed! Thanks for the comment ❤️
Absolutely!
I WAS TODAY YEARA OLD WHEN I UNDERSTOOD COOLIRPA IS JUST APRIL BACKWARD AHAHAHAHHAHA
OMG! if it weren't for you i would never have figured it out!

Then what's the "coo" ?
@@kia7189 I suppose it´s cool april, you read it from both sides and they meet in the middle with L :)
@@mozoulpozoul5017 ohh that's clever
Imagine if it was on display in some expensive store, they'll charge nearly 100$ for this
It looks so cool and expensive
My goodness! I could see some boutique charging $200.00 or more. So cool!
@@xxx-il9dv sewing or anything where one creates with own hand is itself an art.. april is really talented
Def more than 100. $400 minimum
Not the first time I liked April’s version better than the ones she was inspired by. I really had low expectations, but it turned out ADORABLE!
if she were to sell this it would probably be around that much too considering all the materials and time it takes to make
Not only does the jacket look awesome, but you’re literally GLOWING queen!!! Your excitement about it just shines through and made me so happy to watch !!!! ☺️👑💜💗💕
thank you April !!! great content as always!!
😍😭🙏🌈🎀👏👏👏
Awwww yessss can you tell. I’m so happy with it haha. Thank you for this comment!!!
I have so many jeans that don’t fit me! I guess I know what I’m doing with them! Thank you so much April:))
You're welcome! :D
Thinking the saame
Love the dancing in the end 😄
I love seeing April dance at the end. You can tell that she really enjoys sewing.
The end sequence of your dancing and happiness warms my soul!!!

I would love to see a photo of the clothes in your closet that you have made. It must be bursting at the seams!
I did something just like this for one of the pieces I made for my senior thesis 💛
THAT OUTRO THO!! idk what's cuter: the outfits or the dancing 💚❤
This is so fun! I have piles of jeans in my classroom and I’ve been wanting my students to make something like this :)
that dance sequence at the end was so cool!! it made me want to do this even more!
this must have been such a fun and refreshing project after your displeasure with the last project. its so cute and unique !
It was healing ✨❤️
I love how on denim you can keep a raw edge without it looking tacky. Definitely want to recreate this jacket in my own way, it’s so cute

Jacket is owesome🤩 the end of the film is sooooo cool 😃💃🏻
You make sewing through all that thick denim look easy.
Wow this was absolutely genius especially the thought of de-bulking it by cutting away the big layers that were doubled up. Inspired!

Such a 90s throwback look, especially with the bucket hat

I’d be so afraid of taking the jacket apart because I know I’d forget how to put it back together 😭
