In the early 80’s I used to watch Fela perform at the Shrine in Lagos, Nigeria where I met him. However I never thought that I would one day watch a European band perform his music. Altogether a very good cover but something missing and can’t put my finger on it

Ok, guys, you hit this one out of the park! Everyone studied and mastered the script. Every band member listened very well to and understood Fela’s mood recording “Lady” - as much as “Europeanly possible”. I applaud the whole band with special props to the bass guitarist. Being of Abẹokuta, mine is a discerning ear for the role of the bass in Fela’s songs. Your cover of “Colonial Mentality” was my first interaction with your team and the bass guitarist held down the rhythm from start to finish. I played it back several times to spot the lady on bass practically hidden away in the back. She also sustained the rhythm in this cover of “Lady” and I’m a fan! I’m sure Oriṣa Baba would applaud you all. I hope to see you live someday - for a cover of “Why Black People Dey Suffer”. Hmm?
