Yet these two guys in their video claim to know him --- mind you Wes Skiles died in 2010. Wes taught Cave Diving near full time for decades right in the heart of Florida's cave diving Mecca. Obviously these two claiming to "know" this Dive Instructor indicates that it must be via The Psychic Friends Network. Otherwise you have no line to get find your way out. I think there aren't permanent lines leading from the surface down into the cave because they would encourage untrained people to go down into them, but that is purely a guess, as I said I'm not a diver.
Sheer stupidity. He violated every single rules of cave diving.
Still feel it may be staged. I’m a cave diver and if I didn’t have a line to the exit at 150 my breathing would be a lot higher. On top of that his trim sucks and he silted out the cave. Suspect
The scary sign at the entrance of the cave is there for a reason. Creeps me out so I will never go past it.
Only 5 rules you need to follow and somehow you decided to not doing any of them
whew! I almost went to cave dive at this place and luckily I saw this video first. back to playing League of Legends!
Where is the other diver that was swimming in front of him in the beginning of the vid..?
Wtf.
Man got lucky
153 Fishes, is The Miracle
that i see..
Incredibly reckless but appears about as interesting as cave diving gets
This is definitely true. Cave diving is more about the actual divers experience than anything else.
You obviously havent seen some of the incredible caves that exist.
@@onearmedwolf6512 no offense, have fun be safe. I likely piped off after a couple scotches.
Thank god I'm epileptic so I can't even consider diving, fuck man that's hard to watch
If there is a next dive
He did the same shit at Eagles Nest .
Buy a lottery ticket after this one
Keep it up
"See you next dive." Not if I see you first.
Getting a cool watch doesnt make you a better diver. So many divers have a false sense of security because they buy a piece of gear.
i didn't know orange grove went to 100 feet depth...
Lower orange grove
I’m lost already
Hang on - so what is the end result here? I get that people want content and there's a real market for 'check out this person taking extreme risks or failing to do X and Y' but if these are recordings leading to fatalaties it deserves clear information, at the very least for respect those who have died.
This guy was absolutely reckless and I beleive more dangerous than drunk driving but miraculously lived. There was no "I'm cool" more like I feel like diving into a cave because I saw a map and I'm too impatient to get proper training or equipment. He should have died but god was on his side. He had to be Marc's since the 100 foot mark which is a drunken like state, so he can get disoriented and turned around very easily, blowing bubbles will show your way up. And in a cave most times, not the surface.
Nobody died in this video, but there’s plenty of other videos where people got lost in the cave & died
.
In this instance, the guy miraculously got out and posted the video himself. He was (deservedly) dog piled so hard by the internet that he took the video down, which is why it was re-uploaded here
What happened to the line he was following? Did it not go all the way to the cave entrance? If so, that seems like a risky mistake.
@@christopherwitecki6649 that line he found does not go to the entrance. It marks a circuit that is very deep and very technical you have to run your own primary to get there. It is not difficult if you have the proper training and equipment which this diver obviously did not.
That line he found is a jump to lower OG and is a deep Normoxic Trimix dive. You have to tie in a jump, from the gold line to that line. It’s not easy to find since it is a very technical dive. The circuit inside lower OG is very silty and a rather tight bedding plane. Almost impossible not to silt it out.
@@cavediver2579 I can't believe how far this guy went into the cave... he just kept going and going. I was already freaking out when he hit the 100 foot mark because he didn't turn around and look behind himself a single time to see what he would be looking for on the way out since he didn't have a line, and then he continues on and drops down 2 more ledges that add 30-40 feet each to the depth, and thats before he even stumbles on the gold line and decides to keep going even further. Holy fuck dude, how did he not even stop to think for a second about how many different directions he was going to have to remember on the way back out with how far he was pushing in? And like I said, it doesn't seem like he looked behind him a single time in between entering the cave and turning around
@@tankmaster1018 I’ve done that exact dive, but with a guideline. He is lucky he made it out. It is not a long way from the cave entrance to the lower OG jump line but it is also not just a straight shot. He’s lucky he made it out.
@@cavediver2579 did his seemingly lack of panic help him? , his breathing didn't seem to increase much given the unbelievably stressful event he was going through knowing he was lost
Why risk it all on one tank? jesus christ this is stupid
what happen to this diver in the end?
Went on to become a PADI instructor.
he fell in love with a mermaid and never left the cave. He`s a happy man with a happy family, mermaid wife and mermaid kids.
@@Virosaa LOL thats the internet for ya
I'm with you, these seemingly throwaway bits of content deserve more follow-up, closure, rather than just serving as someone shmuck's statistic on this platform. Did someone die? More metadata and information in general is required for these sorts of uploads.
You’re so lucky to be alive
I guess he was suicidal
Could've used a marker so you didn't lose track of the exit.
This had everything you need for disaster. Jagged rocks, holes and a lack of common sense.
Totally IRRESPONSIBLE!!! HEhad NO BUSINESS going into this cave and breaking EVERY SINGLE RULE in cave diving!!! He should NEVER be allowed to train anyone EVER in ANY type of diving after showing such blatant disregard for the rules, and his own LIFE!!! And even worse is posting this video for people to watch him BREAK EVERY SINGLE RULE of cave diving!!!!!
Authentic, Fab clear video, Fab to watch with no Dramatic background music
Except he didn't make it out. Inevitable trying to dive a cave with no training, crap lights, no guidelines and a single tank.
@@chillyfly yes he did make it out.
Beyond stupid… I was a full cave for more than 10 years before I went down there… and only with a rebreather and using tri-mix.. this diver doesn’t even understand how dangerous that was
I finally went down there a few days ago and despite all my experience, I have to admit it took me longer than expected to find my way through the breakdown and get to the line. Trying to come back with no line and some silt and a pathetic amount of gas would definitely be nerve racking.
Right… not very easy finding your way through that breakdown

Next time you need to have completed training, use the proper gear and figure out your buoyancy. The cave divers that may come out that passage may not be so cordial because you've now silted them out. Very irresponsible.
Ugh I was having a nutty putty moment at 1:48 😕😨
everybody is a cave dive expert after watching Dive Talk
_An open water diver displays his supreme cave diving abilities at lower orange grove._ This is the most laughable thing I've ever fucking read on the internet.
DO NOT DIVE LIKE THIS. THIS IS GROSS NEGLIGENCE.

@Rob Woodworth you shouldn't be so wreckless cave diving. You're setting a bad example for the sport. You're very lucky to have made it out alive. No I didn't read the description 😉
@Ian The Real G you shouldn't be so wreckless (sic) writing comments. You're setting a bad example for the rest of humanity. Wow so easily could have went real bad but fab clear footage and love the fact the Authenticness has been kept with the sounds of the air and water without the Dramatic background music which I'm sure there is none in the bottom of the Ocean any way fab educational footage for the better or worse
Fab fab and fab
I'll bet there really IS fab music at the bottom of the ocean! How else would all the fab little fishies have dance parties?!?!
here's some of my video from what it looks like farther down the cave line in there: th-cam.com/video/IxmWoJh7fu4/w-d-xo.html
No funny😱
Wow! Is this video mis-titled. That was NOT an open water dive. I’ve done that dive with proper training, equipment, gas, technique and a highly qualified and experienced buddy and it is not a casual cave dive much less an OW dive. The diver is very lucky and very stupid. He’s lucky to be alive. The saddest part is that other OW cowboys may now think this is a good idea but not be so lucky.
The title is open water "diver" not open water "dive"
This is a full circle moment. Mr “I know more than everyone yet I can’t even comprehend a simple word”..

Is it not "special" that the hapless diver shown and heard throughout the video breathing less proper cave diving gear and descending to 100 feet in seconds. Seemingly knowing the direct path is somehow one and the same diver that goes on to the blunders deep below as the video progresses... Your mind is taking the simple path (as with a magicians slight of hand) to believing the diver shown less proper gear is the same diver throughout the video. If not the Diver's the Master of Selfies!
Speak english
This video of the hapless diver and the two Cave Divers talking about it as fishy as it can get. These two bit it hook-line-and-sinker.
At @ the video states: " *Danger Do Not Attempt*, Wes Skiles Peacock Springs State Park".
These ever so observant two guys obviously failed to catch that there was a second person videoing the hapless diver as things started out when the 'lack of gear was flagrantly apparent, up to the point of the self shooting begins.. It never again shows him diving or the lack of proper gear. The video seems to all be made with one camera and is uninterrupted. . Given Wes Skiles credentials (see link below) he was light years from simply being an Open Water Dive Instructor.
My money is on Wes Skiles made this video specifically to demonstrate flagrant breaking of Cave Diving Rules and as the two note every rule possible that can be broken on cave diving.
Please review Wes Skiles here:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wesley_C._Skiles
Honestly it's kind of sad that these two cave diving experts fail to have a clue of the great history of diving and filming of diving in Florida. Silver Springs used to have a couple large rooms of the videos, the underwater camera equipment, the men/divers that filmed all the TV shows and movies as well as the actors and actresses.
th-cam.com/video/v0JuE2wXYZw/w-d-xo.html
This guy was not cave certified dude.. he didn’t even take a line from the no light zone to the second line.. and one tank? And leaving the line after you’ve found it? What? He fucks up like the entire time and somehow got out.
Even the guy the posted this video said this was sketchy as fuck. And he took the video down as to not I courage other to do the same.
2010 and you claim they have no way to know the guy? You realize they dive in mostly Florida right? And they have alllllll kinds of carts right? If this guy was an instructor he probably taught them… and if he’s so good why did he almost die in this video. You can hear it I. His breathing and looking around that he is lost… this isn’t how to cave dive at all. This isn’t a good example and his video should come with way more warnings.
Please note in the beginning of said video on how not to cave dive it says in writing WES SKILES. look up Wes Skiles the cave diving instructor whom this very spring in the dub-ass diver in your how not to dive video is named after by the State Of Florida.

@@roberthawxhurst3717 The park is named after Wes Skiles. The diver in the video is obviously not Wes, considering that it was shot and published after his death, and showcases a bunch of behavior that a legend within the caving community would never condone or attempt even for educational purposes.
