I think one of my hackers was a gold farmer, I logged in to find myself in the middle of Netherstorm with more gold than I had before and my hearthstone set to I think Area 52. I nearly thanked the guy for getting some more gold for me xD Another time I notified my guild that I couldn't get into my account and they demoted all my characters so that the hacker couldn't get into the guild bank. I'm pretty good friends with the guild leader and some of the other guildies so honestly I'm glad :P
G+ seems to randomly decide what comments I have to approve/flag as spam... and also random decides what comments even CAN be approved. :/ Searching to approve your original comment now!

Happened to me. Hacked me, took all my stuff and wiped the gbank. Luckily the community back then was more of a community. Some guilds we ran with helped us replace everything that was gone. Blizz got most of my stuff back, thankfully.
Mostly Blizz just gets all your stuff back. The only thing you need to do is actually report it and more. But most people are to afraid to do that. Especially as most hacking cases are because of them paying real life money to a wowgod 1000000lk now for 10cents only type deals.
The best wow investment I ever made was buying the blizzard authenticator, I am Canadian so it costed me more than if I were American, but believe me, it saved my acct too many times to count, I never fell victim to the hackers, but my housemate did, he was so enraged he quit playing the game for over two years, he had over a million gold on his main character alone, that guy was a whiz when it came to making money in game, he logged in one day to find all his alts gone, his main naked, and our guild bank emptied of all the good stuff, I contacted blizzard on his behalf, explained what happened and it took them six months but they were able to restore most his characters, although of course his gear was irretrievable, so they gave him 500k to equip himself at least half decently, I was able to convince him to return to the game and he continued to play until his death last year, I really miss him even though he could be a pain at times, you see he was british and did not let our poor provincials forget it, but he was a loveable rogue so we tolerated his occasional snobbery.
