The 3.73 is fine for the application. If you want more grunt or tow heavy everyday, maybe consider a diesel at that point.
@@slaytanic921agreed. I own a 21 Cummins and a 22 Chevy 6.6l gas. The Ram is the nicest truck I've ever owned and I love driving it, but if I hooked 15k pounds behind both, no one would be disappointed with either truck. The gasser does well. If a person is not regularly towing north of 15k for long distances, a diesel is a waste of money. It will take 500k miles to offset the fuel and engine costs alone. Most people are too lazy to do the math, and have a stigma about towing with gas vs diesel.
The motor needs a power boost. Ours is lacking in power especially when hooked up to our trailers. our 7.3 Godzilla is a much better engine and the tranny downshifts better than the GM. Otherwise, we love the truck
Ford is a recall leader...so that causes me to hesitate buying them....
It out sells general motors and gmc by far, more trucks on the road, why wouldn't it have more recalls, lol, I can even figure that out by multiplication @ramaswamynarayanaswamy4806
Ford has the same exact transmission as the Chevy. It’s a joint design between ford and Chevy
They sell a lot more trucks than gm or dodge, hence the higher number of recalls, all 3 brands have recalls, it's like am i buying a nike, Adidas or new balance shoe, they all have issues. Some trucks are just better built on the assembly line
@@lyleswavel320 no they don’t
2025 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD Heavy-Duty Custom 6.6L Gas V8 Allison 10-Speed Automatic Z71 OFF-ROAD Package Double Cab 4X4!
What?
6.6 has direct injection, after 100,000 to 150,000 miles it will have horrible carbon build up on valves, intake and into piston walls, just sell it after 150,000 miles and buy a new one
And you're ford will be In for 3rd recall
They recommend an ac Delco fuel system cleaner after every 10k miles. It works well. 31kmiles on my 6.6 with about 14 k of that towing my 5th wheel.
@slaytanic921 can you run 87 octane gasoline
I want one but When Kamala gets in office before people don’t vote , I want be able to afford it
I don’t get why the GMC is so much better looking. The Chevy version is horrendous. Chevy’s have always designed the ugliest American made car or truck. Total embarrassment.
That engine is not new. It’s been around since Covid
Chevy Silverado HD good looking truck to buy it and show it off
The exterior design is not so bad but that interior is downright shameful. I know it is done deliberately to push buyers to more expensive models. To do that at the 60k price point shows just how out of touch GM is with the buyers. I have owned many trucks from both Ford and GM. I have never nor will I ever own a Chrysler/Dodge/Ram. Exterior designs are what gets the buyer's attention. Interior design is what ultimately makes the sale. Looks alone are not enough to bring her home to Mom.
2024 and GM is still wax dipping their truck frames . Really? Hard pass !
Aluminum is not an advantage in the Middle East...and is more expensive yo repair when there is a crash....
@@ramaswamynarayanaswamy4806 How many trucks do they sell in the ME compared to the US? The Rust belt is more important.
@@ramaswamynarayanaswamy4806What’s that got to do wit the original comment t?
We took my buddy’s brand new 6.6 on a Canadian fishing trip towing my 19 foot bass boat. That truck was an absolute turd!!!! Gutless gutless gutless. Got a whopping 11 mpg. My half ton would out tow that truck any day of the week while getting 18 mpg towing the same boat. I feel sorry for anyone who buys this garbage!
I have one and it performs great. Tows WAY better than my 1/2 ton ever thought of. It's not a diesel but it's certainly not gutless. The 10 speed is fantastic. And the rest of the truck is really good. You get 18 mpg while towing with your 1/2 ton???
@@outfitr9703 sometimes a little more and sometimes less. Granted it’s only a 3500 lb load but being a bass boat it has a sleek profile and isn’t a kite behind the truck. 3.92 gears and 8 speed in my truck. I was really excited to have my buddy tow this trip and really disappointed in his truck. I wish you the best of luck with yours. God bless America!!!!
Go to any jobsite. You will rarely see a gm truck because they are el casinos. 😂
Front end still looks like 💩
Looks like chevy copied a ram big horn.

It’s not an Allison. Buyers do your homework please.
Yank, yank, yank…
Stop tailgating and RED lights mean STOP. You need your license taken away.
Nice troll.
Try all they might. They won't outsell Ford
That's only due to Govt fleet purchases. Take those out it's a different story.
No rear wheel liners. Chevy cheaps out again.
my gaaawwwd,,, GM do something with that ugly ass front clip. please ....!!!
"Trumps"? Does that mean it just says it's a better engine even though it's not, gets fact-checked, but keeps repeating the same lie?
Ford is better
Not even close to the building quality of Toyota. Everything is cheap and plastic looking.
The engine will probably outlast Toyota's turbo disaster though.
It’s a base model (something you Toyota fanboys wouldn’t know about) and the 6.6 gas is bullet proof.
