How to find Holyhead Breakwater and a walk to the lighthouse on the end. A relatively short journey of 3.2 miles that should have taken an hour at most.
I stopped to chat with anglers along the way. The journey started out dull and overcast but was soon sunny and warm.
Also got a bit of video of the ferries coming into port.

Been fishing the breakwater from the early seventies and caught a monster conger from just before you go onto the breakwater (harbour side) also we were about 3/4 of the way up fishing one evening when some local lads thought it was fun to speed up to the edge in their car and skid to a stop, unfortunately he didn't stop and went over the edge at high tide, never did find out who got it back out or if it's still in there.
Also watched the Irish ferry knock the end off the landing pier when doing the turn around in the dark.
Brilliant fishing spot if you don't mind constantly unhooking dogfish :(

It's an under rated venue, I've caught alsorts here but you are right. At times in can turn into a dogfish fest.

At 20:00,that was known as the knuckle, three cars could fit on it.We used to reverse our cars onto it and literaly fish out the back of the car! The port officials claim it was this
practice that destroyed it,that is nonsence, the high speed ferrys destroyed it,infact most of the damage to the breakwater can be blamed on the ferrys. All the litter and other
rubbish is sad to see but it has always been that way - I first fished the breakwater as a ten year old in the early seventies!!

im wondering what those little shelters were for.. im guessing if it got rough and sea went over the top then they had somewhere to go for shelter

They could well be, the insides are really small. Could be used for shelter and storage
