ALL of my major appliances are Kenmore. Back in the day, if I needed to replace an appliance I would look no further than Sears! I know that Sears/Kenmore didn't manufacture their own appliances. However from my understanding they were made under contract to Sears strict specifications. Case in point:
    1. Kenmore built in dishwasher: purchased 12/04/01 (23 years) still works great. In 23 years I had only one issue, I had to replace the the water inlet valve at a cost of $52.61 and it took me about an hour to complete the repair.
    2. Kenmore frost free upright freezer: purchased 7/18/05 (19 years) still works great, ZERO issues.
    3. Kenmore Bottom freezer refrigerator with internal only ice maker: Purchased 10/17/05 (19 years) still works great, ZERO issues.
    4. Kenmore washer and electric dryer pair: Purchased 11/23/07 (17 years) both are still working great. I did have one issue and that was with the dryer, I had to replace the start/signal on-off switch at a cost of $19.70 and it took me about an hour or so to complete the repair.
    5. Kenmore glass top range: Purchased 4/21/06, (18 years) no issues as well.
Keep in mind that none of these appliances are the high end top of the line Kenmore Elite models, but they were still built to last. Watching the reviews on this channel of modern appliances that are only expected to last 5 or 6 years (with the exception of Speed Queen) makes me miss Sears and their Kenmore brand even more.

My Kenmore HE2 washer and dryer combo from 2005 have served me well. I replaced the washer 2 years ago due to a tub balance issue that I let go too long (my fault) and it wasn’t worth fixing anymore. The dryer is still working great.

Kenmore is not a manufacturer. They have always been a brand that was just rebranded from other brands, and then sold at Sears. 30 years ago, they were rebrands of good units. Now, they are rebrands of crappy units. That said, MOST refrigerators from 30+ years ago were well built. You can't really use your fridge as a comparison.

I had heard bad things about Samsung in the past but heard the Bespoke has been “different” and I did like the beverage center idea. But I just can’t with their reputation… some people stand by LG’s and love them. But I’ve heard a lot of appliance guys say otherwise. I guess it’s luck. I do like how you explained everything and why those systems fail. It really helped to know the “why.”

I cant answer these questions for you and just as you cannot answer them for me. You are a family of five on a budget. Is that 3 kids under 10? Agree! I am 62 yes old
I am replacing my fridge that I bought 10yrs ago from Lowes. It is a fridgadare. I bought the Xtra insurance with it. I have had n9thing but 1 issue with it right out of box n that was the seal! They came put replaced it several times and I have to say the insurance did n9t replace the fridge as it stated it is to do after so many attempts. Anyway I just look for a fridge that will do it's job!! I'm n9t looking for looks rballnthe extras. Like you sa8d just more to have t9 deal with. It sits in kitchen and keeps your groceries cold. Long as it does that I'm happy. Now after the years it has started making noise and I have to keep the dial on coldest for it to even make ice in the ice maker. I am disabled raising 2 g/ children alone. I'm a widow n I get no help. So I have finally got where I can get mine replaced. It just was disturbing that Lowes did not hold up to its part. I've used Lowes over Home Depot many years. What really sucked was I purchased the new fridge along with ice maker n paid for delivery and no ice maker! I was assured that the ice maker would b delivered yesterday n took me over a hour to speak with a manager b/c I kept getting hung up on except once they picked up n thought they hit hold but I heard a conversation I really didn't need to but I kept hollering hello thinking they would here n pick up!! The employees now days have no professionalism at all! They should b great full to have a job b/c your friendly AI is comingbfor your jobs within the next 2 years people!!! If we as h7mans d9nt wake up n seebrhat we r their virus n want us out! Start paying with cash use your coins n dollars every chance n stop using self checkouts. It's OK to use a credit if you have to but pay with cash!!! Yes it may mean you have to reach for your wallet r do a little Xtra work but in the long run you will b glad!!! Your n9t gonna like the place they will b putting you!!! They are the elites WEF'ers people not elected that is running this not your president! Which again is the same bird just different wing. I went with a Midea. Just a basic model top freezer with ice maker and single door. Stainless steel. 600.00 ( rounded off) I do pray over it as well as anything. But again why pay for something to have all the little this n that when it's job is to sit there n keep your food fresh n cold!!! It's pretty at this price! I'd prefer a model back from the 50/60's r older if I could find 9ne working they were made to last back then!!! As with any appliances! They figured out they couldn't make money if they kept that up!

Same here ---- Samsung French Doors/Ice maker in door .....mine was built in Aug 2011....
(at approx. 8 years old 2019) Ice build up happened in the rear of the freezer (defrost mech) after unplugging refrigerator, totally getting it to room temp...broke away the Ice build up (after taking that cover off the defrost mechanism)....the rubber tube that drips the water into a plastic tray under the frig was blocked. Poured warm water through it.
...all it needed was "widened" with a knife...slightly. It's been great ever since.... Ice maker has never had an issue, and I use Ice every day. Doors are wide (thick).
Perhaps ... This year is a GOOD model at 14 years of service.
btw- fixed the above myself- how?, you may ask - TH-cam tutorial video of course.....hahaha

The frigidaire is literally the worst ones. That first model you showed my family has that one for a little over 3 years. The motor died in it. First it was the freezer. The damn fridge was humming so loud. We checked the fan. We turned the fridge off and let it air out and dry for a few days because we thought water had gotten on the fan and froze or something. We thought it was working but then all of a sudden the high temp kept coming on and I had to reset 4 times. When we checked the freezer. It was leaking all over and not running anymore. We had to buy a new fridge now.

All made in Mexico and JUNK Nowadays. I have the notorious Problematic Frigidaire FFHB2750TS Rev 9 that's only 3 years old and gently used by myself only. I had the typical Ice-maker air leak problem so carefully took everything apart and improved on the already poorly factory installed band aid that makes sure the defrosted moisture drains good and all air gaps sealed. The factory has the defrost timer setting to run at about 12 hour intervals and I have verified water flow out of both tubes at the bottom during the cycles. There is no ice build up in any of the coils locations but 3-5 minutes into every defrost cycle you get LOUD Shotgun blast K-Pows from several areas of the unit. These are much more violent than just plastic/metal expansion noise. Any ideas as what it is?

I know it's not the popular thing to say, but i just don't like Stainless Steel appliances. Especially large ones, like refrigerators. It looks so cold and industrial, and reminds me of a restaurant kitchen, where everything is stainless steel. White looks quaint, so black seems like the best default. Specifically, matte black looks modern and sleek like stainless, but not antiquated like white. Personally, i love those old coppertone ones from the 70's. They are warm, clean, and still look modern to me. Wish thy made ones like that.

Boy, y’all are going to get a rude awakening. I bought the Samsung 4 door bespoke a little over 3 years ago. $3000+. A month ago, it stopped cooling. Waited a week for a Samsung tech guy to come out because they had to order a new compressor. He replaced the compressor, free of charge. Next morning, it stopped cooling. A strong chemical smell was in the air. My guess, the Freon leaked out. Called Samsung and again, it took a week for them to order a new compressor. Monday, came out and replaced the compressor for a 2nd time. Today is Sunday, 6 days later…there’s a strong chemical odor in the air again. And the fridge & freezer is losing its temperature. It’s done. I’m done. I’m not buying another Samsung product ever again. Haven’t had a fridge in a month and have been eating out this whole time. I should’ve listened to all those negative reviews when I bought this. Today I’ve gotta go out and look for a new fridge. Probably have to spend $4000+ for one. It’s ridiculous. There’s a reason there’s so many negative reviews for Samsung and LG appliances. The money I’ve spent on refrigerators in the past 3 years, I could’ve bought a Sub-Zero.
