In addition, the Bespoke line has been out for 5 years now and there's been no major issues or concerns since the launch.
I just had a bespoke delivered today, and I hope I'm not sorry. I didn't have a lot of choices, because my home-based built in the 80s and this fridge was the only one that fit through my narrow opening.

What's weird is when I look at the whirlpool website I'm StIll seeing side x side fridges that look almost identical to the one I have from 2018... I'm like, "wow, they've made no changes at all?" Usually they change them up a lot over the years
My GE refrigarator no ice maker, to avoid trouble, but anyway 2 months later my machine quit working. I bought the waranty cover for 5 years, call them and have to wait 2 weeks for them to send a technician to look at it. I suspect no matter what we buy we buying lemons.
Kenmore is not a manufacturer. They have always been a brand that was just rebranded from other brands, and then sold at Sears. 30 years ago, they were rebrands of good units. Now, they are rebrands of crappy units. That said, MOST refrigerators from 30+ years ago were well built. You can't really use your fridge as a comparison.
@@trekkiejunk Yes I know. They don't make refrigerators like they used to. My Kenmore where I bought at Sears was the best refrigerator I ever had. That I still have. I wish they still built refrigerators like Kenmore built 30 years ago.

Most low-cost fridges today come in white, black or stainless. I can't speak for the specific model, but i would wager good money that that same fridge is sold in black and stainless for the same price.
My Mom has a 1998 KitchenAid Side by Side , with Ice Maker, Water in the door....It has never needed service...and is running like a champ today....26 years. The quality of the build is apparent JUST in the weight of the doors.
My GE Profile went out 3 days after install. Repaired three weeks later and six months later, the ice maker went out. Forward to May 24,’ a complete shut down. Repaired on June 28, 2024, and it was reading a cool 72 degrees the following morning after repair. All this in a span of 24 months.
Just replaced my Samsung french door that was great for 15 years for a larger unit. The old one was still running. I purchased a Samsung Bespoke stainless three door. Absolutely love it. So many great features. Hopefully it's as good as my last Samsung.
Thanks for the video. My husband and are buying a new fridge. I was torn between the GE Profile with ice maker/water in door that you showed and the Samsung Bespoke. I had heard bad things about Samsung in the past but heard the Bespoke has been “different” and I did like the beverage center idea. But I just can’t with their reputation… some people stand by LG’s and love them. But I’ve heard a lot of appliance guys say otherwise. I guess it’s luck. I do like how you explained everything and why those systems fail. It really helped to know the “why.” But honestly they really don’t make them like they used to.
I have a 28 year old Frigidaire that just will not die! I've never liked the size since day one. If you want a refrigerator to last buy the one you like the least.

I want to know the same thing! I don't want or need ice or water. But I hate the top freezer models. I want reliability, accessibility and space. I want one that stays cool enough without freezing my fresh produce.
AI, you really know your stuff. I bought the Whirlpool at 2:06 for my dad back in 2020, and he’s had no issues. An LG came with my house when I bought it nearly 5 years ago, and since this spring, I have to manually reset the ice maker 3x each night at 8:09 with a paper clip to get good ice production all the next day. The SpaceSaver ice maker develops problems, and eventually I’m going to have to unscrew this old one and get a new one shipped out to me.
My family had a whirlpool side by side fridge from 2005-2018 and in 2018 the ice maker quit working so my dad decided to buy a whole new fridge. We replaced it with a ge side by side that didn’t last 5 years. I feel the whirlpool would still be going just no ice if we didn’t get rid of it. We replaced the ice maker and multiple parts but it never would make ice again.
Mine stared doing that last summer and eventually stopped making ice altogether because it wasn't cool enough.Eventually this last week the whole fridge gave up it was the compressor just shy of 10 years . Replacing it with a GE this weekend.
At 1:56, the GE at about $1,300 looks like a good one; affordable, stylish & practical. Do you want an exterior water & ice dispenser? Personally, I don't. For a family of 5, you may want 22 cubic feet or above (I think that's the reference).
Nobody can answer that for you. As the video points out theres no simple - everyone go buy X answer. Only you can say if you can what is most important for you. What is your most important feature? Large capacity? budget friendly? Fits in existing Unchangeable space? Exterior water and Ice maker? No Ice Maker Longevity? I cant answer these questions for you and just as you cannot answer them for me. You are a family of five on a budget. Is that 3 kids under 10? Or a house of ravenous teenage boys shopping at Costco constantly.
3:29 I’m intrigued by the Hisense, but I’d be afraid of it going out in the middle of the night-perfect advice that it’s great for a rental. The white GE reminds me of NeNe Leakes from the Real Housewives of Atlanta complaining that an apartment had a white refrigerator-all the OGs know the white fridges are the best ones.
That white GE fridge? It almost certainly comes in stainless. Go on the websites for GE, Whirpool or Frigidaire, and look at all their basic models with no features. They ALL come in white, black and stainless. 20 years ago, the cheap ones were white and black, and only the feature-laden expensive ones were stainless. That is no longer the case.
I have white durable never had a problem 30 years but it is a Kenmore. Wanted a new refrigerator. But decided mine is still working why but another. Stainless gets dented quite easily.

Frigidaire is by far the most reliable you can buy according to a 25yr repairman...then GE then Whirlpool...Lg and Samsung rated very low for their refrigerators
If you look up the compressor specs of every frig manufacturer website you'll see it's either r600 or r600a. Those are the same compressors as Samsung and LG. @@SageLakshmi
I prefer the side by side because I like having a door ice and water dispenser, and enjoy the configuration. My parents had a kitchenaid superba top compressor fridge that lasted 20 years. Love the shallow depth of the sub zero and other high end fridges due to ease of grabbing anything from the back.
I work part time at Home Depot, totally agree with you, I would say buy anything, but Samsung and LG. I’ve seen customers that don’t buy extended warranty come back 6 months later complaining that they call ☎️ LG or Samsung and all they hear is crickets 🦗
I have had my french door LG for 15 years and it's been good , the only problem was water line connector which was leaking at first year and i disconnected and cleaned and connected it back and it hasn't leaked since then .
I have had a Samsung side-by-side for 9 years and it is still working. Great water and ice dispensers in the door of the freezer. Why? Do I need to get it maintenanced?

I have the Whirlpool French door you showed at 11:30. In addition to the icemaker taking up room, it’s so stuck that it’s impossible for me to pull out if I want to dump the ice.
11:09 That is the same reliable ice maker on my 10 year old Maytag fridge. The only thing I changed on it was the water filter cooling tubing (10 minute job). If I buy another fridge in the next few years its definitely going to be a Maytag/Whirlpool
DONT DO IT!..Lowe’s units are not the same that you would get at an appliance dealer. Delivery is abismal as is service. Go to your local appliance dealer who know his stuff and is willing to back up your purchase and deal face to face with you regarding any issue. Big box stores are the worst for appliances.
Question: I have a 25 year old Kitchenaid refrigerator.... it recently started to leak (note local water main broke.. could that have somehow impacted our fridge?)... I turned off the water.. and am wondering is it worth trying to fix or is it better to get a new one. I am concerned about the reduction in quality of newer appliances
I’ve now had my GE profile for 21 years stainless steel all the way around ..the icemaker just now stopped, but I haven’t looked into It,might be something simple.
We are fridge shopping, and I can tell you water external on the door and ice in the drawer is exactly what we are seeking. Unfortunately Samsung, LG, and Fisher parkel (unfamiliar?) aren’t on our radar.
You come across as very knowledgeable and people respect your opinion. That said, you REALLY need to put more time into telling us the fridges that you like. You seem to think the GE at 2:00 is among the best but you spend so little time talking about it we don't even get to learn the model name.
I know it's not the popular thing to say, but i just don't like Stainless Steel appliances. Especially large ones, like refrigerators. It looks so cold and industrial, and reminds me of a restaurant kitchen, where everything is stainless steel. White looks quaint, so black seems like the best default. Specifically, matte black looks modern and sleek like stainless, but not antiquated like white. Personally, i love those old coppertone ones from the 70's. They are warm, clean, and still look modern to me. Wish thy made ones like that.

The frigidaire is literally the worst ones. That first model you showed my family has that one for a little over 3 years. The motor died in it. First it was the freezer. The damn fridge was humming so loud. We checked the fan. We turned the fridge off and let it air out and dry for a few days because we thought water had gotten on the fan and froze or something. We thought it was working but then all of a sudden the high temp kept coming on and I had to reset 4 times. When we checked the freezer. It was leaking all over and not running anymore. We had to buy a new fridge now.

Many years ago my parents had a side by side that was pure garbage..i talked to a nice Hispanic couple well I really talked to his wife. She said that they have a side by side Samsung that is pure junk. Thank you for the information video.
Never buy an ice maker in the door on a french door frig no matter what the brand. You cant make a blanket statement of quality of any brand. Consumers need to do real research know the strengths and weaknesses of each feature and make the best decision.

What do you think about Amana? When i was a kid, they were a top of the line brand. I know they are owned by Whirlpool now, and considered a discount brand, but i wonder about the quality. Are they just a rebranded Whirlpool, or do they use cheaper parts? I'm in the market for my condo's kitchen remodel, and i do NOT care about features. As basic as you can get, to lessen the chances of failure.
I have a French Samsung from 2012 and had issues with ice buildup in the rear. Got it fixed once and the second time I fixed myself . Besides that it has been decent. Will I buy again? Probably not.
Same here ---- Samsung French Doors/Ice maker in door .....mine was built in Aug 2011.... (at approx. 8 years old 2019) Ice build up happened in the rear of the freezer (defrost mech) after unplugging refrigerator, totally getting it to room temp...broke away the Ice build up (after taking that cover off the defrost mechanism)....the rubber tube that drips the water into a plastic tray under the frig was blocked. Poured warm water through it. ...all it needed was "widened" with a knife...slightly. It's been great ever since.... Ice maker has never had an issue, and I use Ice every day. Doors are wide (thick). Perhaps ... This year is a GOOD model at 14 years of service. btw- fixed the above myself- how?, you may ask - TH-cam tutorial video of course.....hahaha
@ The issues that we’ve had a very minor and could’ve be fixed with a little patience for free. Most people and techs/repairman trash Samsung so bad, but I guess we’re lucky. 😃 FYI, mine was built June 2012.
The GE Profile french door with ice maker in the bottom freezer drawer has a 5 year warranty on the sealed system, not one year. The person narrating the video was incorrect, stating it is a one year warranty on the sealed system.
The GE is not the same as before, my GE has more problems than the fridge I used before, don’t understand where is the quality control and any reliable brands exist currently?
So I am considering the GE profile and you mentioned a 5 year warranty they are offering...does that automatically come with the fridge or is it a purchased option. Just asking because most only give a one year warranty and then you purchase an extension..

I can buy a new LG Model #LLFGC2706S for $496 from Lowes today. Should I? It will only be used for drinks and water in the utility room. No need for ice hook up or water hook up.
Sometimes, Lowes and Home Depot sell "Scratch and Dent" appliances, for maybe $300 to $400 less than new model appliances, and some still carry a factory warranty. Sometimes, these appliance are out in the open, and sometimes you have to ask a store employee where they are at. Can save you mega bucks though.....
The new bespoke series from Samsung have gone back to a very simple cooling design, not like their previous models. Easy to fix, so far have been very reliable.
Have a new french door samsung for a year and a half and had no issues with the ice maker. I think they fixed the drain/defrost cycle between ice making now.
Boy, y’all are going to get a rude awakening. I bought the Samsung 4 door bespoke a little over 3 years ago. $3000+. A month ago, it stopped cooling. Waited a week for a Samsung tech guy to come out because they had to order a new compressor. He replaced the compressor, free of charge. Next morning, it stopped cooling. A strong chemical smell was in the air. My guess, the Freon leaked out. Called Samsung and again, it took a week for them to order a new compressor. Monday, came out and replaced the compressor for a 2nd time. Today is Sunday, 6 days later…there’s a strong chemical odor in the air again. And the fridge & freezer is losing its temperature. It’s done. I’m done. I’m not buying another Samsung product ever again. Haven’t had a fridge in a month and have been eating out this whole time. I should’ve listened to all those negative reviews when I bought this. Today I’ve gotta go out and look for a new fridge. Probably have to spend $4000+ for one. It’s ridiculous. There’s a reason there’s so many negative reviews for Samsung and LG appliances. The money I’ve spent on refrigerators in the past 3 years, I could’ve bought a Sub-Zero.
Thanx for the video. I bought a GE Cafe in 2012, and I am not happy with the quality of GE. Within 3 years, several pieces of plastic parts, like the plastic fronts on the pull out shelves snapped off, so now it is a gapping hole that does not keep an item on the shelf without moving forward and falling out. Seals went on both the freezer AND one of the French doors. I was able to replace them myself, but as you pointed out, the more doors and drawers the more seals to fail. I am looking to replace it this year, but I will admit that I am shell shocked over what one to buy, Sadly, it seems to be that you are buying the lesser of two evils these days. Who or which company can you trust anymore? And companies like LG should be offering a minimum of a 5 years parts and warranty plan FREE to prove that they stand behind their products. But even when people have a warranty, friends I know have been without a fridge for 3 to 4 weeks for the free fix...because it takes that long to get a part or schedule a service call. I think that they now say that the expected life of ANY fridge is less than 10 years. Long gone are the days when you went to Sears, bought a COLDSPOT, and it worked beautifully for 40+ years
Quit buying SamSung/ LG APPLIANCES, We replaced Samsung appliances on Black Friday sales 4 years ago, total junks. Didn’t even last a month before started dysfunctional for each piece we bought. Honestly i havw no idea why people want the ice maker. The ice molds worked fine and always worked as long as the refrigerator worked. Not to mention you cam take out the mold and store it and have more space for the freezer
It depends where you live. The water in the rural areas don't taste good. And the city has a lot of fluoride in them along with chemicals. I need a filter out my water where I live. But I can understand where you coming from it's cheaper. Plus you don't worry about having the ice maker breaking down. Or buying expensive filters for your refrigerator.
I purchased a LG fridge two years ago. Nothing but trouble with the ice makers. Currently both ice makers are not working. The repair price tag to fix both is close to $1,000. Never again will I buy a LG product. Purchased manual ice trays and will forgo any repair efforts.

AVOID GE CAFE! I fought with GE for months because our new GE Café refrigerator would not cool consistently below 41 degrees. After 6 months (and replacing multiple parts) GE delivered another new Café. Same problem, the fridge stayed between 41-48 degrees at all times. It was very difficult but I received part of my $ back (GE will not refund extended warranty or delivery costs). FYI-GE would have swapped out the Café for a less expensive refrigerator (no refunding the difference). However if the refrigerator costs more YOU have to pay the difference between the old and new fridge. I purchased my first GE fridge in 1977 and my last in 2024; never again will I purchase anything from this now owned Chinese corporation.
Since Covid lots of stuff of lesser quality now. You can always buy a cooler with ice, but buying ice daily adds up 😅😅😅😅. Trust me i know, my fridge went out recently.
my retired uncle builds his own , and theyre HEAVILY insulated , the compressor almost never needs to come on. some manufacturers have decent insulation but almost none do.
The brand that last longest 😅😅😅. Same question, what brand is that? Extended warranty may be the best way to go with any brand you buy. You have to do your homework these days, and search online consumer reviews. Since Covid everything costs more and last less now. So, get the best deal you can.....

In addition, the Bespoke line has been out for 5 years now and there's been no major issues or concerns since the launch.
Yes I heard that as well I wish I hand 2 mire inches I would get it. My dream refrigerator. As fisher and Paykel is also top notch
I just had a bespoke delivered today, and I hope I'm not sorry. I didn't have a lot of choices, because my home-based built in the 80s and this fridge was the only one that fit through my narrow opening.

Usually they change them up a lot over the years
My GE refrigarator no ice maker, to avoid trouble, but anyway 2 months later my machine quit working. I bought the waranty cover for 5 years, call them and have to wait 2 weeks for them to send a technician to look at it. I suspect no matter what we buy we buying lemons.
Oh man.... I'm torn between GE frigidaire and whirlpool currently
I wish they still have Kenmore refrigerators. Had mine for 30 years and still going strong.

Anyway I just look for a fridge that will do it's job!! I'm n9t looking for looks rballnthe extras. Like you sa8d just more to have t9 deal with. It sits in kitchen and keeps your groceries cold. Long as it does that I'm happy. Now after the years it has started making noise and I have to keep the dial on coldest for it to even make ice in the ice maker. I am disabled raising 2 g/ children alone. I'm a widow n I get no help. So I have finally got where I can get mine replaced. It just was disturbing that Lowes did not hold up to its part. I've used Lowes over Home Depot many years. What really sucked was I purchased the new fridge along with ice maker n paid for delivery and no ice maker! I was assured that the ice maker would b delivered yesterday n took me over a hour to speak with a manager b/c I kept getting hung up on except once they picked up n thought they hit hold but I heard a conversation I really didn't need to but I kept hollering hello thinking they would here n pick up!! I went with a Midea. Just a basic model top freezer with ice maker and single door. Stainless steel. 600.00 ( rounded off) I do pray over it as well as anything. But again why pay for something to have all the little this n that when it's job is to sit there n keep your food fresh n cold!!! It's pretty at this price! I'd prefer a model back from the 50/60's r older if I could find 9ne working they were made to last back then!!! As with any appliances!

What model is it ???? Im in the market of buying 1 and looking at a GE

It really helped to know the “why.”
But honestly they really don’t make them like they used to.
I just brought the bespoke. It's beautiful 😍
Having sold appliances and owning samsung. Frigidaire are trash

What French door (without ice maker) would you recommend to be reliable??

You confuse the crap out of me I would like to know which is a good brand for a family of five and budget
They're all chinese or korean made garbage. Buy an old one and paint it.
Thank you for the in-depth review. I will go with GE.

I'm so tired of the stainless. I want to go back to white and usually see an upcharge for white. I currently have a door in door and love it!

I prefer the side by side because I like having a door ice and water dispenser, and enjoy the configuration. My parents had a kitchenaid superba top compressor fridge that lasted 20 years. Love the shallow depth of the sub zero and other high end fridges due to ease of grabbing anything from the back.

We are fridge shopping, and I can tell you water external on the door and ice in the drawer is exactly what we are seeking. Unfortunately Samsung, LG, and Fisher parkel (unfamiliar?) aren’t on our radar.
Just don't get a Frigidaire that has the filter on the bottom it's awful! Great video! I always wondered about things like this!
So which one should you buy?
It was a very confusing video. He didn’t seem to like or recommend any.
Maybe a basic refrigerator without any bells and whistles. That way there is less stuff in the fridge, to worry about breaking down.
The best refrigerator is hands down is Fisher and Paykel. It pays to spend more❤
That last Frigidaire is made in Thailand. All of their french door models are made in Thailand.
Thailand is a pretty cool country. I would prefer that over Chinese made.
@marks9233 parts come from Thailand, which makes serviceability difficult. Also, there are more opportunities for damage during shipping.
@@alexanderjamieson7971 China is right next door. Don't see much difference, except China moves more stuff. I would much rather buy from Thailand than the Chinese dictatorship planning on how to destroy our aircraft carriers and buying gas from Russia anyway. My opinion.
If you have home owners insurance you can have it replaced. I ordered a LG side by side. Many years ago my parents had a side by side that was pure garbage..i talked to a nice Hispanic couple well I really talked to his wife. She said that they have a side by side Samsung that is pure junk. Thank you for the information video.
It may be covered, if it is specifically written in your homeowners policy. So, you have read up on that.
That's only possible if you have mechanical breakdown insurance endorsed onto the policy. However it typically doesn't pay for bad refrigerators.
Do you have any advice on what to do to replace GE Refrigerator Door Switch WR23X10593 which is no longer available at GE or parts locations?
Never buy an ice maker in the door on a french door frig no matter what the brand. You cant make a blanket statement of quality of any brand. Consumers need to do real research know the strengths and weaknesses of each feature and make the best decision.
After watching the video, it seems to me that all of them are bad.
Maybe it is a matter of personal preference, budget and luck.

The issues that we’ve had a very minor and could’ve be fixed with a little patience for free.
This is correct. I looked it up to confirm after hearing him say that, because it didn't make sense that they would be different warranty terms.

Very informative, thank you sir.

@@swisstexan We actually held off on purchasing right now. Seems like there are no “good” refrigerators unless you got to the commercial/$10k lines.
I bought the GE side by side. The ice maker failed after 18 months. They wanted over 760 to fix the ice maker. So I wouldn’t recommend it. I’ll never buy another GE.
I feel a basic fridge is best. If you need ice, just put some water filled ice trays in the freezer. That is free ice, without the icemaker.
We are in the market for the best counter depth refrigerator we can find. Prefer top fridge, bottom freezer unit that will last. Would love water in the door too. Reason for wire baskets in freezer...Air Flow

The more features, the more problems. The biggest being the ice maker. If you have to have one, make sure it’s located in the freezer. Avoid any model where the ice maker is in the refrigerated area or inside the door.
Just buy a True commercial refigerator and by a separate deep freezer and use ice trays. Unless you're willing to pay out the butt for a SubZero, you're not going to get a quality residential Fridge anymore.

My parents has whirlpool at 5:45 And I'm not too happy with it. And it's like you said more coolant. Well and half the time the doors don't even close. They only bought it cuz they needed a bigger freezer but I'm not too happy what you just said. Yeah my parents had the same exact one according to your video is a whirlpool
My big gripe with newbie refrigerators, the door is the only place to put a milk or tea jug.
The shelves can be adjusted to fit milk sized containers on half the bottom shelf.
I own the newest ge cafe for like 2 year lol i still like it
@@LexusIS300LoverJDMsame lol probably she just mad cuz she got her fridge broken probably she on face book
Since Covid lots of stuff of lesser quality now. You can always buy a cooler with ice, but buying ice daily adds up 😅😅😅😅. Trust me i know, my fridge went out recently.
The only trouble Samsung ever had was with the door ice maker. The new models have a different ice maker and are bulletproof.
Wish I would have known about Samsung before I bought mine. Had problem with it twice.
I bought this n had all kinds of problems. Tried to fix it 3 times. Ended up getting a GE
You did not recommend any refrigerator.
How about hitachi, toshiba or fisher & paykel
my retired uncle builds his own , and theyre HEAVILY insulated , the compressor almost never needs to come on.
some manufacturers have decent insulation but almost none do.
What brand is better
The brand that last longest 😅😅😅. Same question, what brand is that? Extended warranty may be the best way to go with any brand you buy. You have to do your homework these days, and search online consumer reviews. Since Covid everything costs more and last less now. So, get the best deal you can.....
Nice review but I don't find GE's appliances to be very dependable.
Iam surprised that the toy companies make nit making them. I don't need a plastic tower.
GE no ice maker seems be most dependable
No bells and whistles type fridges may be the best way to go.
