Hey man, just want to say thank you! I bought this Blue Ember for $40 after watching your video and it’s absolutely fantastic. On your voice, it beats all FIFINE mics in your other videos, and is about the same as SE4100 and sounds better than Lewitt 240 and NT1 if you want radio sounds. And I am listening on Senneheiser 599, so I can tell. All this fifine ones have a high pitched grit on the high end and makes me cringe. Blue ember and SE4100, wow, so soothing!
Awesome! Enjoy that mic. They’re likely to be discontinued soon, so that sound, build quality at the price just destroys the competition and punches so far above its weight!!!!
@levelupwithmikenewman my pleasure. I had a tech channel and let it dwindle. Don't give up. We need to do a collab one day. I've got the mic bug, too I have the TLM 103, SM7B and the ProAr C414. My old channel is still up cellphonius Mobile tech and travel (formerly just Cellphonius) 🙌🏾
We will all stand and defend our Pineapple Pizzas from the hill tops with our Blue Embers raised to the heavens!!! Another great mic review Mike, almost time to do a showdown of condensers and dynamics!
This is cool and at this price seems like a real bargain but I am kinda setup at this point so. ... I don 't need this... I Don't Need This! .... I... DON'T... NEED... THIS... ! ! ! It arrives tomorrow... Used your link. Thanks Mike for sharing the goodness and oh ya btw... you... might... get a strongly worded email from my wife... LOL
Wow, this mic is amazing, I use to watch senpai gaming before it was even called that when Harris reviewed it i remember always wanting it but XLR setup was so expensive. Now not so much. And 100% I can see Morgan freeman using this microphone in a movie like 10 years ago. Honestly one of the few mics it really doesn’t need a pop filter or windscreen imo maybe varies on the speaker but wow the last mic you tried was the only one I liked that was better but $350 vs $40 cmon….CMON that’s incredible.
Same!!! My first go-to channel I followed for tips on starting a channel was Harris Heller’s “Alpha Gaming” channel 👍🏻 I 💯 % agree…it is how good this sounds next to the $350 mic that really speaks to how good a mic this is for such a little price!!!
@@levelupwithmikenewmanAlpha gaming omg 😅 I probably haven’t heard that name since my my sophomore year of high school, side curiosity, would an XLR to USB adapter work with with this microphone? Or would it hurt the quality to much, I do want to get an XLR setup as I love a lot of them are starting to come with software you can EQ your mic in live time. Sure audacity is great for voice overs, but I was never much a fan since you had to go back set and listen, and change every single clip, maybe I was dumb and did it the worst way possible (experiments for middle school projects) but I love OBS for that, nothing special but the bare minimum EQing has made my headset mic sound so much better for live streams, would I be able to do that until I can afford the rest of the setup? Or would the audio be tinnie and or potentially not work? Also when I say XLR to usb adapter I don’t mean like the shure mv2xu or whatever full on cable for like $15-$20? I seen someone say “why would I want to buy a mic but it doesn’t come with a usb cable, I have to buy an XLR to usb adapter I’m just not getting it” that’s fine and all but this mic is amazing and use to be very expensive suit yourself pal but if I get 8/10 mic quality from a $50 purchase than $50 is $50 investment at that point.
for my voice, If I wanted the best possible audio quality and be willing to do whatever it takes negate the flaws, its Blue Ember (proper mic placement, ensuring I stay 2-4 inches from the mic). If I needed great audio without worrying about any accidental plosives from being SO close...or simply prefer to have a little space between me and the mic (more than 4 inches) it's PM500 (in my opinion!)
Hey Clay, My opinion is NO. Blue has some amazing and literally world class mics. As Mike said, this is a move that probably marks the end for this model. ALSO, many of the current mics, the spark SL, the bluebird SL, are cheaper versions of the original IMHO. The "SL" versions are not as good as the OG versions.
OH MAN! I don'r need a new mic Mike, but for that price how could I not order one! I may make a reaction video to yours, about shock mounts , , , I've been meaning to make for a while, but it may be fun to "answer" moments in your video - no offense intended - peace. My mother was from Novi, I think we might be related . . .
@@redcabinacoustic-official I use my shock mounts to reduce vibration from bathroom exhaust fans and my refrigerator downstairs, and mount my mics to separate table to minimize the booms I can make from when I drop things on my desk, which is a lot for my neuropathy issues. Lol. Definitely will be watching for your video. 👍🏻
I had no clue they cut the price on the Ember. Always liked the sound of it but didn't need a condenser at the time. Arguably still don't need a condenser yet but the G.A.S. is still saying to grab it in case...
@@JoseOnTheAir I hear ya! For me….$150 quality tone and build quality for value for $40. I didn’t need one either, but only $40? I paid more than that for lunch with my wife yesterday, and that is over…blue mic is forever . Lol
Very informative video my friend! I am about to purchase this at Amazon. How does it compare to the 512 Skylight which is 10 dollars more on Amazon? Thanks in advance friend!
@@flowmaka I haven’t had a chance to review the 512 yet, but from I would say from listening to sound samples that it has a little more presence in the mids and highs, and the Blue ember is slightly darker but rich and detailed in the lows. So it comes down to which flavor you like better on your voice.
I love mine. Great price too. $67 Aussie dollars - wish I'd paid that.Norrmally @ $160 here - so $100 off.

@ I am not 100% sure but I believe you can’t do that a condenser mic that requires phantom power. I think that only works with dynamic microphones. 👍🏻
What a bargain 👌
In your opinion, for spoken words Ember or Maono PM500?

Is it possible Blue has improved since taken over by Logitech?
its all the same old gear, same name, but now at a cheaper price because they are probably going to be discontinued.
